Bible Verses About Trust: 20 Helpful Scripture Quotes

by David Peach · Print Print · Email Email

Here are some wonderful verses about trust in the Bible. Remember that verses have some larger context. Take time to look up in your Bible the chapter where the verse is found to see the events or other verses surrounding these words. Also, don’t forget to take a couple minutes to view the video “Unchanging” by Chris Tomlin that is posted to the right. It reminds us that we can trust God because He is unchanging.

2 Corinthians 3:4-6 “And such trust have we through Christ to God-ward: Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God; Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.”

Trust God; He is the Stronghold

Psalm 18:2 “The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.”

Psalm 91:2 “I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.”

Nahum 1:7 The LORD is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him. ”

Trust Bible QuotesTrust God; He is the Protector

2 Samuel 22:31 “As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the LORD is tried: he is a buckler to all them that trust in him.”

Job 13:15 Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him: but I will maintain mine own ways before him.”

Psalm 7:1 “O LORD my God, in thee do I put my trust: save me from all them that persecute me, and deliver me:”

Psalm 25:1, 2 “Unto thee, O LORD, do I lift up my soul. O my God, I trust in thee: let me not be ashamed, let not mine enemies triumph over me.”

Proverbs 30:5 “Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.”

Trust God; He will Deliver as Promised

Psalm 9:10 And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou, LORD, hast not forsaken them that seek thee.”

Psalm 22:4 “Our fathers trusted in thee: they trusted, and thou didst deliver them.”

Psalm 37:5 “Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.”

Psalm 56:3 , 4 “What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee. In God I will praise his word, in God I have put my trust; I will not fear what flesh can do unto me.”

Psalm 71:5 “For thou art my hope, O Lord GOD: thou art my trust from my youth.”

Isaiah 26:3 “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.”

1 Timothy 4:10 For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe.”

Trust God; Nothing on Earth Can Compare

Psalm 20:7Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God.”

Psalm 32:10 Many sorrows shall be to the wicked: but he that trusteth in the LORD, mercy shall compass him about.”

Psalm 118:8 “It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man.”

Proverbs 3:5 “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.”

Something to Consider: Are you putting your faith and trust in the Lord? Some people seem to trust God with their eternal salvation, but they have trouble trusting Him for their every-day life. Take comfort from these words of scripture. You can trust God with your needs today.

I find it is easy for me to trust God when it comes to salvation. In other areas of life, it is sometimes not as easy to trust the Lord. It’s weird and I can’t really explain this, but I guess I have to learn to trust him more! Thanks for sharing these verses about trusting God!

God will end all of your confusion. Pray and ask him to help you find a church where the Pastor is annointed. I was confused and depressed on the verge of suicide pregnant with my only child facing homelessness and back problems and unable to work. Through my prayers and tears God spoke to me and told me to close my eyes and asked me what did I see. I saw nothing but darkness. He told me to do it again. I saw nothing but darkness. He told me to do it again. He asked me what did I see and I told him a little speck of light. He said that speck of light you see is me. He said as long as you see that speck of light just know that I will see you through. I closed my eyes often to see if I still saw that speck of light and I did. The next thing I knew a homeless assistance program which said they never got baby clothes called me and said they had boxes and boxes of beautiful baby clothes and said this had to be an act of God. I delivered a healthy baby despite the fact that she stopped breathing during labor. I applied for and got section 8 housing. My social security disability came through several years later. Eventually he healed me and I got a government job. I don’t see a speck of light anymore… I see all light! His glory is awesome. Be encouraged. Look for that speck of light to lead you and guide you. He is here waiting for you to see the light of his ways. I love him so!

Yvonne, that was so awesome to read. I broke down and cried. I want to have that kind of faith, but I just struggle and don’t know what God’s doing, if anything in my life.

Kristin January 28, 2013 at 11:36 pm

Thanks so, so, so much for sharing that. God is truly amazing, and your testimony is powerful evidence that he loves us so.
I’m so glad I ran up on this.

Hi Jeff !
Yvonne’s story is showing the true colours of the Almight God we read about in the bible, in my life all is a mess and trying not to loose faith I just want to also see that light as well.

Having a Hard time July 20, 2013 at 4:42 am

Yvonne thank you for posting this. Sometimes we focused on the darkness that surrounds us instead of the speck of light. I figure that by focusing on the speck of light we can truly see God’s hand working in our lives if only we let Him. May He continue shining your way and everyone else. God bless and thank you for sharing this testimony.

Wow Yvonne, thank you soooo much for sharing what God has done in your life. It totally encourages me! I am just now beginning to see a speck of light. I totally believe and expect that speck to grow until I am living and walking in nothing but His light. If you have the time, would you please email me back and share what else God has done in your life since this posting? I would really love to hear.
Thank you so much,

Katelyn October 23, 2012 at 1:49 am

I really needed to read all of that…I have a best friend…we are super close, and I feel like I could tell him anything…but everything in his life has gone all wrong, and it changed him into a completely different person, because he used to love God…and now he says that he blames God for everything that has happened to him. I keep trying and trying, but he gets worse and worse each day, and has turned into an arrogant jerk on the surface, even though I know it is his way of trying to hide all of the hurt in his heart…Lately, I have been having trust issues with God, thinking that I need to fix everything that has been going on with my best friend’s life, not trusting in God to fix it…but I’ve come to realize that if God can move mountains and work miracles, then I know He can soften my best friend’s heart towards him once more…I just need to have more trust, and more patience…please, to everyone who has read this comment, pray for my best friend…he needs help. Thank you 🙂 God bless you all.

God is good all the time,in good times and in bad times.
I have been struggling with trusting God since 2010 May 24 the day my mother Passed away.
I never got to say good bye and tell her how much I love her and that I forgive her
For all the mistakes she made with me and my older sister. My heart has been very heavy and hard
It been a very tough battle cause in as much as I love her but I hate the things that happened to us
When we were growing up and have been asking God where was he when the bad things happened and how can he allow it. But I am now slowly drawing back to God. It is not easy every day I have to remind myself why am I doing this and who God is to me. Please pray for me to get a complete recovery and in receiving fully the love and joy that God wants for me

faith sithole December 4, 2012 at 12:29 pm

i am trusting God every day in my court case which seem to be failing but God is unfailing at all times.
Psalm 118 reminds me that “it is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in men” I have zero confidence in my solicitor and barrister i have more confidence in my God who is a fair Judge and a God of Justice.

Mark December 14, 2012 at 7:40 pm

I have been very selfish in my trust in the Lord as a Christian. I have asked him to save me but I have not given myself fully to him because I do not fully trust him I am realizing. I was talking with my wife about this to seek help and she thought it was because of my relationship with my earthly dad and my childhood. I did not have a dad who was there for me but I have a God who is and I am learning to trust in him now!

God is Alive April 5, 2013 at 6:30 am

Dear Bro & Sis..
I don’t know where to start. I have a lot of miracle stories to tell. When I feel desperate I call all my friend-saints and ask for their intercession, and the blessed Virgin Mary to join me in my prayers to her son Jesus Christ. Believe it or not..? Whether my problem is money, peace, or guidance, right away I get an answer and God delivered me from troubles. I speak to God about my dreams, plans for my children and He never disappoint me. But there’s a secret to Jesus’ heart, do His work (charity) to your neighbors (less fortunate brothers and sisters), and God will take care of your concerns. That’s for sure!!!

Olly April 10, 2013 at 12:50 pm

I thank the Lord for never leaving me nor forsaking me but for always being here by my side in good times and in not so good times. I thank Him for loving me unconditionally and for giving me eternal life through Christ Jesus. I thank the Lord for always ordering my steps and guiding me through my everyday life. Like Job I will hold on to Him and never let Him go because He is forever faithful and will not let me go. I live is His perfect peace and wish all of you do too. God bless you all. Amen.

Joel May 25, 2013 at 8:13 pm

This fact made me cryout to God, my life was not where I wanted it to be and I reliazed I was drifting further into sin when I got busy with my “cares”. He said to cast all my cares on his, he said to trust him, he said to seek his kingdom FIRST and he would do the rest and still I tried to do it myself. I was so convinced that I had a fireproof plan and that i was doing what he would want me to do all the while I was drifting further from him, not finding time to read his word, to really pray as i used to or even give him thanks. I found myself being dragged back and forth not giving myself the opportunity to reach another level in God. I was considering my own options although I was aware of his call upon my life, everyone was expecting me to complete my plan and it seemed so great to the world but it felt bad and I was nothing else than an unfaithful ungrateful child who disowned his father, I broke down and cried. I wondered before why my plans weren’t unfolding and why I couldn’t get some bulletproof ones off the ground. I know now and plan to give GOD everything, I chartered a course towards God that not even Death will change… In him, I live and have my being. LIFE will continue to suck for you and when false hope comes you will get abused from Satan and unhappy if you don’t TRUST GOD! Dear Lord why can’t we just trust you…we want our own messed up way, that could never work in the first place!!!

Deanna May 29, 2013 at 2:03 am

As I have scrolled thru and read all these comments and stories I have never felt more hope. I have prayed for you all. Everyone on here is already at a perfect place for the trust to grow. You all know God, love God, know Jesus, and love Jesus. The Father, His Son, and the Holy Spirit reside in you and are making their work perfect in you. Gods timing is breathtakingly perfect. I thank you all for voicing your cares, concerns, and doubts. It has strengthened me in my worries. God bled you all.

Having a Hard time July 20, 2013 at 4:26 am

Thank you for your heartfelt words. God’s timing is perfect.

David Collins November 2, 2015 at 9:44 pm

Let me tell u a truth in my life I was saved in my twenty’a I’m 57 now I’m skipping a lot to get to where I’m going I was a doubting Thomas . So I will say I was put in a position to trust him or . I’ll just leave that there. Oh man did God come thru . money wise is where we where having trouble not that we where bad stewards life took it all my wife was going to nursing school and it was tough . My wife said if we pay our tithes no money for groceries in the mean time God was dealing with me in the Old Testament these three little words Trust in God little did I know those words would change my whole life. I went to work now listen to what I’m saying ok I started telling people ain’t got the money to buy groceries but God said trust him ahhhh don’t think satan was going to go for that all this doubt starting to flooding my mind but those three little words trust in God and God brought it to pass was’t eating steak but food was on my table. I can’t stress this enough nothing I did but what he did through me here’s what happened God did’nt save me out of my troubles he made me through my troubles here’s the results my faith was growing not to say all my troubles was over one hill after another. God saw me thru. Something happened we’ll just leave it there. I went to bed that nite thought I had the victory over it I worked ten hrs day all that day I battled it all day I came home that evening God dealing with me the hole time got home he stopped dealing with me walked in the house my wife took a look at me and said what’s wrong that’s all it took and it went to pits of hell afterwards. After I came to my senses I realized what happen.but the damage was done and I never forgave my self . Even in my relationship with God i was hard on myself because I couldn’t be perfect.all my lessons where hard this point I feel the need to express the need to say gettttt in his word don’t just read but study his word Jesus defeated satan by what the word of who? Our God how do u do u do it u speak it mixed with faith Jesus said in his teaching about worry Take no thought hummm the mind is where it starts don’t worry not easy huh if satan can get u looking at what ever ur facing what happens worry even tho Jesus said I will never leave u or forsake u remember our lord & God wants to deliver us thru our troubles not take them away he wants u to depend upon him he wants that one’ness with his children so when u pray cry out from ur heart to him r u going to fail let me say here if u dont get up u’ll be miserable will God forgive yes he will he said he would trust in God three little words but be ye doer’s of the word & not here’rs only three little words that will change ur life to no end his word says many are called but few r chosen which do u want to be i want to stand before him to here him say well done my good & faithful servant some people may think drugs sex raising hell man what fun we live in a drug induced if it fells good do it world be that few that r chosen to spread the word Jesus took twelve people and turned the world upside down read the lord of their life didn’t take trouble away he delivered them thru it my name is David I got more to say but that’s all I have time for

This are beautiful verses, indeed God is trustworthy. I have been trusting God in my life and although there are so many things i am praying for and have not been fulfilled, i still trust God that at the opportune time, He will fulfilled according to His wishes. His thoughts are beyond ours, he knows our needs more that we know them, let us just stay in the Word and in the Will of God and all will be well with us. I have a thousand and one testimonies to show God really hears and answers prayer – we must TRUST HIM fully and only HIM. Be blessed

Having a Hard time July 20, 2013 at 4:23 am

I’m being attach by the any with doubts about my husband loyalty. I have been letting my mind wonder and having a hard time with trust issues. My husband told me that I needed to trust God and He take care of me and give me peace. I am thankful for finding your website. I am writing down all these verses and will commit to practice them and memorizing them. I am writing every verse there is about trust in God. Since my previous marriage ended due to infidelity; I don’t want to be caught of guard. God bless and will continue to visit this website. And to those women out there; it may be hard but give God your issues. He will guide you to the right path just as He led me to this website for comforting words. Proverbs 3:6 (ESV)6 In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.

Our God is able to do more than we could ever think or imagine. Thanks to everyone for your contribution here.
In a dark world as we live in, the one thing I have always remembered is this scripture ” woe to the inhabitants of the earth and of the sea! For the devil has come down unto you, having a great wrath, because he knows his time is short” Revelation 12:12. This world is not home yet, but many of us forget that we are in transit here. The final destination is with God and until that time comes the bible says in Philippians 2:12, we must work out our salvation with fear and trembling. The devil is not joking with you here on earth. He is here waging mental and physical battles that will shake your faith. You will sometimes question the sovereignty of God out of confusion, but even with God, when you get to that point of confusion, our God is able to bring clarity to you to know the difference between the good and the bad. You can’t afford to follow the status quo. The status quo is the worlds conformity. Remember Paul’s admonition in Romans 12:2, that we should not conform, but being transformed by the RENEWING of the mind ( the battle ground).

Yet in all of this we have this promise……1 John 4:4, ye are of God, little children, and have overcome the world.: because greater is he that( the speck of light Yvonne mentioned), is in you, than he that is in the world. WOOOOOW.

This is what I do when the tough times come- I search all the scriptures, most especially this one- John 10:10 ” the thief comes not but to steal and to kill and to destroy. I am ( remember the I am that I am that appeared to Moses), come that they ( us) might have life, and that we might have it more abundantly.

I pray right now that for whatever you are going through that God will stire your spirit up to know the light and truth that dwells in you. I speak life over you, I speak life into every situation that is taking away your peace of mind. I bring every situation under the ultimate supremacy of our God that you will have the Zoe life and have it more abundantly to enable you shine in the world and glorify his name.

You are for signs and wonders- do great things for God. Amen

With love

Jim August 23, 2014 at 9:30 pm

Inspiration, joy and peace will follow when you believe in God.

Val May 4, 2015 at 11:18 am

GOD is good despite any situation. I know GOD NEVER MAKE A MISTAKE. In my time of sorrow I will remain trusted in the LORD. I’m dealing with some issues that I know only GOD can deliver me from. No matter what it looks like now, GOD has the final say so and is a just and loving GOD. GOD gives us the strength to go through these trials and give us the guidance we need. No matter what the outcome will be, GOD knows what’s best for everyone involved. IN JESUS NAME, AMEN

am new in salvation and am working hard to maintain my salvation, please advice on how to choose good church

Jack Wellman June 18, 2015 at 8:00 am

THank you for asking about how to find a good church. Here is an article that will hopefully answer that question so much click on this link:

Esther November 18, 2015 at 6:37 am

I am currently going through a trial time in my life, where I have to make a life changing decision. I have gone through almost two years pondering on what to do, living a life of doubt and unbelief. My prayers were full of tears and fear. Only about six months ago did I finally make up my mind and as difficult as the situation is I will have to go through it all.

I needed verses to help me stand my ground and the only way I know how to do that is to trust in the Lord. It is then that I came across this article. I am grateful for it and the comments that are uplifting and encouraging. I will hold on to the hope that God provides and the strength that is ever present and His peace that will never let you down.

I have lived a life of a series of bad choices and decisions, with consequences involving, shame, guilt, condemnation and sadness, heartache and low self esteem. Only now am I claiming back my life in the name of Jesus Christ. Never will I allow the devil to use me in anyway or get away with everything that he did before. I never remember a time in my life when I was trully happy. I claim back all that was stolen from me by the evil one from today, in seven fold.

And I can do that by trusting God. It is easy to trust God when everything is going well, but I will trust him now in the midst of my storm.

Thank you all. God bless you as you journey together with our Lord and Saviour. Our Rock and our Salvation.

Give Him the Glory, I love testimonies.

Tim August 18, 2016 at 5:33 pm

We tend to trust God for much when we are young. As we age, if life has been comfortable or fairly average (as it is for most people in affluent western countries), we can continue to trust God to “bless” us and supply our needs. When circumstances happen, we perceive them from our God centric view, and frame good events as blessings from God. If, on the other hand, we reach old age after a long and difficult life, perhaps full of suffering and pain, and despite living to please God and help others in need, God has done little to ease our suffering, then putting our trust in God to help us in times of need becomes somewhat illogical or even dishonest. Under such circumstances we can still trust God for salvation and eternal life (these things cannot be disproved in this life), but trusting God to help and bless us through our daily lives becomes a lot more difficult (if we are honest). When an entire life is full of suffering and pain, the promises of scripture become more like a cruel joke. Are they just pure nonsense put together by an ancient people to help them have hope and make sense of life, or does God not honor his word? Most Christians live average lives, so they do not need to struggle with these dilemmas, but for those of us at the extreme edge of the bell curve distribution, making sense of scripture in the face of a life time of suffering is a difficult task (if we keep to honesty and truth). The usual response given to these questions is “just trust the Lord, God will have something beautiful for you in Heaven”, however, in this world trust is earned; you learn to trust based on someone behaving in a trustworthy manner. Trusting God when a lifetime of experience suggests otherwise becomes much more difficult. It really does not matter what scripture says, an accumulation of a lifetime of experience is always going to be more convincing.

Michael Tinsley August 28, 2016 at 8:59 pm

David Peach,

You did a fine job on the scripture references, especially at the end asking if people are really trusting the Lord to lead their daily lives.

In John’s gospel there are at least six verses where Jesus says He does nothing on His own. He only does what the Father tells Him, John 5:19. ‘Jesus gave them this answer: “Very truly I tell you, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does.’

If Jesus Himself didn’t try to run His life in His Incarnation who are we to think we know better than Him how our lives should be run ?

How do you know, the King James version is accurate knowledge from God or King James’s thoughts?

No Bible translation is perfect but the main things are the clear things and we can know that we are called to repent and believe. There is no mystery to salvation. We know what we have today are the inspired Word of God Himself and that’s enough for me to trust the Bible.

Words of encouragement Prov 3:5 many of us put trust in our own understanding not to the Almighty, the one and only creator of the Heavens and Earth. We should be our trust in the Lord as he knows what he have in store for. Powerful words indeed.
