by Josh Wiley · Print Print · Email Email

Are you needing to be uplifted and comforted today? These Bible verses about Hope will do just that for you. Take a deep breath and read through them slowly. We all too  often rush through things in life ( I am  guilty of this myself) and miss what God is telling us. God led you to these verses today for a reason, don’t let them go unread!

20 Top Scripture Quotes For Hope Today

Hope of A Future Bible Verses

There are times in life that it feels like the future looks bleak. These are great passages on hope to read from the Old Testament to lift you up and encouraged you today.

Proverbs 24:20 for the evil man has no future; the lamp of the wicked will be put out.

Proverbs 24:14 Know that wisdom is such to your soul; if you find it, there will be a future, and your hope will not be cut off.

Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.

Bible Verses on HopeHope of Eternal Life and Salvation Scriptures

The greatest hope in the Christian faith is that of eternal life. This hope is based on Jesus Christ and your relationship with Him. Write down one of these verses to reflect on in times of need.

Titus 1:1-2 Paul, a servant of God and an apostle of Jesus Christ, for the sake of the faith of God’s elect and their knowledge of the truth, which accords with godliness, in hope of eternal life, which God, who never lies, promised before the ages began

Titus 3:7 so that being justified by his grace we might become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

1 Corinthians 15:19 If in Christ we have hope in this life only, we are of all people most to be pitied.

2 Corinthians 4:16-18  So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.

1 Peter 1:3  Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

Hope From the Book of Romans

The book of Romans is one that is filled with some of the greatest verses in the Holy Bible. When it comes to the topic of hope, Romans provides many verses to inspired you.

Romans 5:2-5 Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God. More than that, we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.

Romans 8:24-25 For in this hope we were saved. Now hope that is seen is not hope. For who hopes for what he sees? But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience.

Romans 12:12  Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer.

Romans 15:4 For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.

Romans 15:13  May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.

Hope in the Midst of a Crisis Verses

You might have found this article today because your life is in the midst of a crisis. God brought you to these verses for a reason. Read through these two passages slowly and let God speak to you through them.

Psalm 27:4-5 One thing have I asked of the LORD, that will I seek after: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD and to inquire in his temple.  For he will hide me in his shelter in the day of trouble; he will conceal me under the cover of his tent; he will lift me high upon a rock.

Mark 5:35-36  While he was still speaking, there came from the ruler’s house some who said, “Your daughter is dead. Why trouble the Teacher any further?” But overhearing what they said, Jesus said to the ruler of the synagogue, “Do not fear, only believe.”

Reasons To Hope Quotes

Maybe you just need a biblical reason for hope. There are some many great verses to choose from for this. Here are three of my favorites!

Numbers 23:19  God is not man, that he should lie, or a son of man, that he should change his mind. Has he said, and will he not do it? Or has he spoken, and will he not fulfill it?

Zephaniah 3:17 The LORD your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing.

John 4:13-14 Jesus said to her, “Everyone who drinks of this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again. The water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”

Example of Hope in the Bible

    • Job

Job 13:15 Though he slay me, I will hope in him; yet I will argue my ways to his face.

Hope and Faith Bible Verse

Hebrews 11:1  Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.

C.S. Lewis Quotes on Hoping For Something More

“Most people, if they had really learned to look into their own hearts, would know that they do want, and want acutely, something that cannot be had in this world. There are all sorts of things in this world that offer to give it to you, but they never quite keep their promise.

“At present we are on the outside… the wrong side of the door. We discern the freshness and purity of morning, but they do not make us fresh and pure. We cannot mingle with the pleasures we see. But all the pages of the New Testament are rustling with the rumor that it will not always be so. Someday, God willing, we shall get “in”… We will put on glory… that greater glory of which Nature is only the first sketch.

We do not want to merely “see” beauty–though, God knows, even that is bounty enough. We want something else which can hardly be put into words–to be united with the beauty we see, to pass into it, to receive it into ourselves, to bathe in it, to become part of it.

Spark Hope In Others Today

If God gave you hope through these verses, find a way to spark hope in others that you know need it. Take a verse or all the scriptures if you need to and send them to a friend in need. If everyone reading this would pass some of the scriptures on through Social Media or email we can give hope to so many!

Some of my other Favorite Verses

1 Chronicles 16:11  Seek the LORD and his strength;  seek his presence continually!

1 Corinthians 10:13  No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.

2 Corinthians 4:13-14 Since we have the same spirit of faith according to what has been written, “I believed, and so I spoke,” we also believe, and so we also speak, knowing that he who raised the Lord Jesus will raise us also with Jesus and bring us with you into his presence.

1 Corinthians 16:13 Be watchful, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong.

Mark 10:52 And Jesus said to him, “Go your way; your faith has made you well.” And immediately he recovered his sight and followed him on the way.

Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.
Psalm 46:10 “Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!”

Hebrews 11:6 And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.

Deuteronomy 6:4-5 “Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one.  You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.

Psalm 118:24       This is the day that the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.

Cheers Jeffery N,

It is possible to have ‘Sunday school class’ on a Saturday. Actually, you are allowed to pray anytime and anywhere. So be not afraid Ssc can be carried out anytime especially with the difficult times for all in the world today.

William August 19, 2014 at 1:30 pm

Thank you for your wonderful article. You are a true man of god. I just made a prayer request but was refused because I have no money to give. Maybe they will pray for me anyway. Reading here today has been wonderfully received. Pray for us in dire financial need and I am a Veteran going through VA now for Disability Claims. It has been a long journey but if we can hang God will bless us with financial help. Continue your good work and Bless you and yours.

Jack Wellman August 19, 2014 at 5:38 pm

Will pray for you sir and please let us know how this turns out and your journey is not too difficult in the process. The VA has a bad history anyway. Hope you are able to negotiate thru the sea of paperwork and bearacracy.

It seems everyone these days needs financial help. I am also asking for prayers for some kind of financial assistance. We own a small contracting business and the last few years the economy, government regulations, etc has just about put us out of business. We have poured out our entire retirement savings just to keep it going. Initially our son was to take over the company but now we just don’t know what to do. Banks are not lending like they used to. It seems they only want to lend to those who really don’t need it. We ate so close to “righting the ship” but no one will take a chance on us . we are not asking for a hand out, just a chance! Please pray for our company, our family and our loyal employees. I believe in the power of prayer. Thank you.

Hello Everyone,
I greet you all.I grew up struggling to get education and many youths around me didnt even have the opportunity to get to complete high school due to financial difficulties. For the few who manage to get through school employment is a big problem here in Cameroon. When i got my bachelor’s degree i started working on helping the disadvantaged and underprivileged youths to get assistance in the areas of education, entrepreneurship and employment opportunities.I opened up a non- profit organization by name Cameroon Youth Initiative for National Development. The work has not been easy as we lack Funds and volunteers to help us get the job done. Please pray we get volunteers and funds to run these activities for the needy and unemployed leaders of tomorrow.

Please pray for me to be strong enough in my faith,to let my husband go, for the health of our son and myself. Pray that he will ask for and get the help he needs for his addictions. I don’t know how we will live without him. But I know I can’t live with him anymore. I have tired for to long only to be hurt yet again. Pray I will be strong enough to trust in God to show me the way. I feel so lost and alone and broken and afraid.

Jack Wellman July 8, 2015 at 9:25 am

Hello Theresa. I will pray for you. I would also talk to your pastor about this. Seek the Lord, maybe your husband is not saved and so pray for his soul to be saved and love him and tell him that you love him as God loved us even while we were His enemies and wicked sinners (Rom 5:8, 10).

arnel November 12, 2015 at 11:27 pm

I’m considering myself as a Christian because since my childhood I go to church, hearing the word of God and Lord Jesus, trying to be a good person and follow His rules as far as I could, believing that I have Faith with Jesus…
But sometimes, like right now, I am full of doubt or should I say I am losing my Faith, or Do I have really Faith??I have sickness for a long period of time and been praying for healing, I believe I am doing my part to solve this problem but I feel that God is not hearing the cry of my Heart..I am hopeless right now, I though God will be our Hope and He will be our great refuge, I don’t see its relevance….I thought Bible or God’s word has the answer for ALL OUR PROBLEMS, BUT it seems like its a lie. I am desperate now, I feel that all I have hope/believe for is not True. I needed the power Of God Right now in the name of Jesus, but I cant find it…I am lost, I don’t really know now what to Do….
If anybody is reading this now, Please pray for me..Thank you

lee-anne December 30, 2015 at 5:44 pm

Arnel, I know how you are feeling, as I am going through it as well. The road has been long, lonely, frustrating and downright hard, sometimes not wanting to get out of bed. But I believe that God is with us, even though we doubt it in times of despair. Keep reading His Word for encouragement, for I truly know that God has something special for us. I will pray for you in Jesus’s name.

Yetyet January 2, 2016 at 8:55 pm

Hi Arnel, just hold on to God’s promises. I’ve been through tough times before and felt the same but, that doesn’t stop me from believing that He is with me and that He never leaves nor forsake us. I remember during my time of despair, God has His own way of showing me that He is there. He made me realized that even I am down and broken there are still a lot of things I have to be thankful for, He also reminded me of the happy times I had in my life and I know not everyone experience that. I suggest, focus on what is good rather than to your sickness, do not be dismayed that you haven’t been healed yet. For I know he have plans and everything happens for a reason. Remember God is able and He is with us and for us. He wil never ever leave you.

J.B.D f T.R 4EVERRRR February 6, 2016 at 4:42 pm

Please

Jack Wellman February 6, 2016 at 5:29 pm

Hello “J.B.D f T.R 4EVERRRR” None of us are worthy to pray my friend. None are good but God hears our prayers and when we confess them, He forgives us (1st John 1:9). Just believe what God says and not so much what you feel. Praying it helps.

PETER March 4, 2016 at 6:26 pm

Tinus May 19, 2016 at 10:13 am

Hi Nosipho
I also do not have work, have a wife and 4 kids depending on me.
I really do not have any more money and are owing the banks, family and friends money. I do not know how I am going to get through tomorrow and look after my family. they are depending on me. But I have chosen to accept Jesus Christ as my saviour and Lord, I believe that He is a good God and that he will provide for me, I really do believe that God will never leave me nor forsake me.
I will keep on believing and hoping in the living God, I will be still and know that I believe in the real God. We got to relax, believe and let God be God.
I am praying and know that God will bless your family with work and that He will heal all you pain, please do not give up on the Lord he will come through for you and me.
We can do all things through Christ who strengthens us.
He who is in us is greater than he who is in the World.
Please give all your problems to God to take care off, and thank Him for the blessing you have and the answers He will bring to your current problems.

Anthony January 9, 2017 at 11:04 am

Off topic I thought this whole site was shut down because I got no emails at all.
I visited the site on quite a few occasions and I think I made a post but I am not quite sure.
I have had a lot of emails from the other site about buying tops and hoodies.
I just pressed on the link in the email box and it brought me back to this site.
The email was from the other site.

Jack Wellman January 9, 2017 at 11:41 am

So sorry my friend. I will let the administrators know. Our apologies Anthony.

Mr Anthony Cotton January 9, 2017 at 12:45 pm

No need for an apology Jack.
I thought you had left this site and went on to Facebook to teach there.
I did get emails from Facebook but strangely I became a member without me knowing.
I have never signed up to Facebook.
I did get quite a few emails about buying them tops and hoodies with slogans on them.

Jack Wellman January 9, 2017 at 1:17 pm

Sorry brother. I appreciate your patience with us my friend. By the way, good to hear from you.

Bobby West March 5, 2017 at 9:09 am

I am 57 years old, I have no income, insurance and unable to pay any bills. I read bible verses every day and pray to my all mighty God for help. I’m not asking for handouts just want to know what I am doing wrong. I need your prayer to help me understand and find answers. Please help

Jack Wellman March 5, 2017 at 3:36 pm

Hello Mr. West. I am so sorry sir for your trouble. I would call your pastor because many churches have a Deacon’s Fund for just such an occasion, and you can also request prayers from the saints in the church who can send up prayers on your behalf. Do you have any other family or friends nearby? You are not doing anything wrong, perhaps, although none of us are good (Rom 3:10-11), but I know there might be someone in your church who knows someone who might have a job. God uses problems to draw us closer to Him and to the Bride of Christ, the church.

Jason Pine July 11, 2017 at 1:15 pm

I’m struggling with my Christian life… I wanna make disciples but I’ve been on and off…

Jack Wellman July 11, 2017 at 3:08 pm

Hello Mr. Pine. I am glad you admit these struggles. Many are struggling along with you. If you want to make disciples, as we’re commanded to do (Matt 28:18-20), you need to sit under good Bible teaching/preaching and learn how to present the gospel to someone on the street, in your family, or to a co-worker, or even a stranger waiting with you. That’s what Jesus would do and what the Apostle did on every occasion, but also, get into a good Sunday school adult class and Bible study just like I do, so please call your pastor and pray about thi as we are commanded to do, because we need one another (Heb 10:24-25) and seek to do what Jesus commands us to do (Matt 25:34-39) as we do it to Him (Matt 25:40) or we do nothing for Him (Matt 25:41- and that’s not good (Matt 7:21-23).
