Another scripture that mentions the possible existence of multiple levels can be found in 2nd Corinthians 12:2 where it mentions being caught up in the “third heaven.”

I figure there are probably various levels of heaven and hell. I don’t think there is simply a line of righteousness where just one extra sin puts you down below while the other gets you living with angels. A comparison would be a pass/fail college class. If you simply need to “pass” you will have no problem putting in a C- effort because you get the same reward as if you put in an A effort. I don’t think simply “accepting Jesus” necessarily means you gave an A effort, especially if hardly anything in your life shows that your actually accepted Him.

Hopefully we live our lives in a way that is pleasing to the Lord as we look to improve our own lives as well as those around us, not simply so we can gain a reward on the other side, but because it is the kind of person we want to be.

Amen Mr. Stokes. Thank you for adding the 2 Cor 12:2 verse. This third heaven I believe is the heaven where God resides at and the first heaven would be where the birds and clouds are at, and then second heaven, where the sun, moon, planets and stars are at, and so the third heaven mentioned by Paul means that it is the place where God is at so these levels don’t really mean the level of responsibility or rewards. I love your conclusion sir that we should live to please Him. Amen and thank you sir.

Purgatory is completely misrepresented here. Purgatory is not by any means a level of hell; if anything, it is a level of heaven, as every single soul in Purgatory will end up in heaven. The purging of remaining sinfulness might indeed be painful (I honestly can’t imagine how it wouldn’t be) but a good kind of painful, like the burn of a workout or the healing of a cut – a pain which brings the promise of something better, in this case, infinitely better.

I also know there are different degrees of glory in heaven and that we will be placed or judged according to how well we followed Christ’s teachings. Paul refers to these degrees in 1 Corinthians 15: 40-41 “There are also celestial bodies, and bodies terrestrial: but the glory of the celestial is one, and the glory of the terrestrial is another. There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars: for one star differeth from another star in glory.”
I know God resides in the highest degree of glory and hopefully someday I can be worthy enough to enter His glory.

There are some bilical verses that will give us the hint on where could be the location of that place of torment Hell….

Proverbs 15:24 “the way of wise [is] above to the wise, that he may depart from hell beneath.”

John 8:23 ” and he said unto them, Ye are from beneath: I am from above; ye are of this world, I am not of this world.”

No such thing as purgatory…..You must believe and receive Jesus Christ as your Savior before you die,,,because then it is too late….You give a false since of security……You either believe, ask forgiveness, receive his forgiveness and then live your life serving Him……no other way into Heaven…

No such place as purgatory for not quite good enough people…..false hope…..You either believe in Jesus as your savior from sins punishment…before you die…because it is too late…Confess you are a sinner…Ask forgiveness..believe Jesus died and rose again for your sin….and then live your life serving him…..no other way to heaven!!!!

so if there are layers to heaven and layers to hell are there layers to our world and if not why?

Jack Wellman April 7, 2017 at 4:10 pm

Hello Mishy…there are levels of God’s judgment, not levels or layers per se. It is the degree of blessings in heaven or punishment in hell for what we do in the body, but of course, we’ve saved by grace, but we some do receive greater rewards for what they did with little and being faithful in little, God trusts them to be faithful in much. Why are there layers out in our world? What do you mean by that Mishy?

Hell isn’t real

Jesus spoke more about hell than heaven and He described hell in detail and He said it is a real place (topos in the Greek), so do we believe you or do I believe Jesus. I go with Jesus.
