Bible Verses About Pain:10 Comforting Scriptures

What a comfort the word of God is to someone experiencing pain. Whether it be physical pain or emotional pain, the word of God is a comfort for those that truly seek wisdom. Are you experiencing some type of pain in your life today? I encourage you to read through these Bible verses after praying and asking God to use them to give you peace.

Comfort in the Lord

Psalm 18:2 The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.

Psalm 34:18 The LORD is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.

Jesus Felt Pain

Hebrews 2:18 For because he himself has suffered when tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted.

Pain Leads to Repentance

2 Corinthians 7:9-10 As it is, I rejoice, not because you were grieved, but because you were grieved into repenting. For you felt a godly grief, so that you suffered no loss through us. For godly grief produces a repentance that leads to salvation without regret, whereas worldly grief produces death.

Hope in the Future

Revelation 22:4-5 They will see his face, and his name will be on their foreheads. And night will be no more. They will need no light of lampor sun, for the Lord God will be their light, and they will reign forever and ever.

Romans 8:18  For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us.

Biblical Example of Pain in Job

Job 1:21 And he said, “Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return. The LORD gave, and the LORD has taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD.”

Job 6:10 This would be my comfort; I would even exult in pain unsparing, for I have not denied the words of the Holy One.

Strength Comes from God to Overcome Pain

1 Corinthians 10:13   No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.

1 Peter 5:9-10   Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world. And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.

That’s for the blog. Looking for words of comfort and encouragement during a hardship for me and my church family. Youth minister resigned abruptly and it shocked many of us. While I don’t know the parameters of what took place, she is family. I hurt for her and my church because we love her & will miss her. It’s like losing a family member. I’m sure many more tears will come and God will be there to help us through. Again, thank you so much. Be blessed

I don’t think it was by accident that I came across this website at 2:27 am. I’m in the process of trying to come to terms with a 3 year relationship that ended last month and it’s been somewhat difficult for me to get past the pain. These scriptures reminded me that I’m not the only one who has gone through this and that God truly has someone better for me. In addition, I’m reminded to pray and read my scripture to find peace and comfort. Thank you so much for posting.

The relationship ending might be the best for you. You are now ready for the next level. It’s hard to understand when we want what we want but God can see past our current comfort into the greatness that he has planned for us. Be strong in faith, you will be better off on the other side. If they relationship is meant, he has to be prepared for you. God bless!
