Why America and Other Nations Have Had Such Bad Leadership

Why have congress and other political parties become so divided and why do we have such bad leadership in this nation?

God’s Sovereignty

12 Tribes of Israel

Why have congress and other political parties become so divided and why do we have such bad leadership in this nation? It has happened in biblical history and it has happened in world history, so it is likely happening again. A nation gets the leadership it deserves, and the example of Israel would be a good starting place. As the nation grew more evil over time, falling into idolatry, the evil the kings of Israel did became even more wicked with each succeeding generation. The even grew more evil than the nations around them, so the evil nation had the evil leadership it deserved, and we’ve seen that happen even in human history.

No Surprises

God is not caught off guard by all these world leaders who are growing more corrupt and evil every day. He is sovereign over all things, including the evil that is presently in the world. God has a history of using evil for good (Gen 50:20; John 3:16), so whatever happens falls within the sovereignty of God. God is not the author of the evil, but He uses the freewill evil actions of nations to do all according to His good pleasure (Rom 8:28), just as God used Judas’ evil intent to fulfill biblical prophecy (Matt 26:24).

What is A Christians's Responsibility To Government

Satan’s World

The Apostle Paul writes that the “gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing” (I Cor 4:3), because “the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God” (1 Cor 4:4). Clearly, this is not our Father’s world, but the god of this age blinds those who are not saved and keeps them from clearly seeing their need for forgiveness and their desperate need for the Savior. This means Satan likely controls most, if not all, of this world’s governments. Satan uses them to oppress people, to keep people under his control, and to try and eliminate the gospel from being preached. Satan has his own religions (Islam, Jehovah Witnesses, etc.) and own churches to keep people from seeing the real Jesus. If they have the wrong Jesus (i.e., a created one), then they have the wrong Savior.

Take Comfort

We should all take comfort in the fact that He alone is “declaring the end from the beginning and from ancient times things not yet done, saying, ‘My counsel shall stand, and I will accomplish all my purpose” (Isaiah 46:10). It is not the council of men but “The counsel of the LORD stands forever, the plans of his heart to all generation” (Psalm 33:11). Where man rules, God overrules, so “Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the LORD that will stand” (Prov 19:21). Nothing has ever just occurred to God. Nothing has ever dawned on God. God is never caught by surprise. He is in charge every second of the way…up the Jesus Christ’s return. Take comfort in the fact that God’s got this, even if it doesn’t look like it. What appears to be falling apart for us is falling together for God.

The Nations

Its impossible for us to change the world, so just trust God that He can, but we might ask, “Why do the nations rage and the peoples plot in vain” (Psalm 2:1)? It is because they are of this world and follow their father, Satan (John 8:44-45). It is clear that even today, “The nations have sunk in the pit that they made; in the net that they hid” (Psalm 9:15), but even the evil nations do will play right into God’s sovereign plan which is and has been unfolding through time and history. Someday, not today, but someday, “the ends of the earth shall remember and turn to the Lord, and all the families of the nations shall worship before you” (Psalm 22:7). God disciplines every child of His, and so He does with nations too. Frequently, God will use one nation to punish another (Isaiah 9:8-10:34), but it is all in His good time and at the pleasure of His will.

Conclusion

If you are not saved right now, I will pray you will put your trust in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. If you do not my friend, right now you are in real mortal danger of hell fire; in danger of falling into the hands of an angry God (Heb 10:31). At this very moment, you are one breath, one heartbeat…one accident away from eternity when it will be too late to repent and trust in Christ. Right now is the best time of all to believe (2 Cor 6:2) because tomorrow is no guarantee for anyone. If Jesus Christ came today, read what happens to you (Matt 7:21-23). This is the reason why I am pleading with you as you read this to repent and put your trust in Jesus Christ. If not, you will face God’s judgment after death guaranteed (Heb 9:27) or at Jesus Christ’s appearance (Rev 20:12-15), whichever happens to come first…and either could come in a split second!
