30 Short Bible Verses To Inspire Your Life

by Daryl Evans on December 27, 2012 · Print Print · Email Email

One of the many reasons that people turn to the Scriptures is to be inspired to live for God.  Think for a minute with me about the Bible…it is many words written over many years by many different human authors (of course guided by the Holy Spirit) and yet when we read the Bible it is inspiring and encouraging even though it deals with so many hard and difficult topics.  Only God could talk about things like lust, evil, adultery, malice, greed, etc. and still write in such a way that deep down we know the words of this text are there to help us and not to cast judgment.  God’s word is truly amazing.

Hebrews 12:1-2 Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.

Praise Him!

God bless You for posting these quotes to strenghten our faith! I do have one question though: Why would anyone copyright God’s Word, seeing that it is the Word of God and not that of men? I use quite a lot of different translations and versions and see a disturbingly growing number of Bible versions having quite strict copyrights. Why is that so?
God bless!

Thanks Marco,
I too get frustrated sometimes with some of the copyright restrictions that some Bible translators put on. They have done the work to make the translation but it seems they are worried that others may profit (financially) from using their text. We just need to abide by the rules that they put forth and continue to read and listen for God.
Blessings,
Daryl

Thanks for the kind words and to God be the glory. “Who is God?” is a loaded question and a great question. One passage that I would point you to is Luke 9:15 and following where Jesus asks the disciples “Who do people say that I am?” To try to answer this question a little let me make a few statements…God is the great “I am” from the Old Testament. Those words tell us that God has always been…he is the same yesterday, today, and forever. God is creator, everlasting, faithful, eternal, unchanging, love, forgiveness, merciful, gracious, all-knowing, all-powerful, one God in three persons (trinity)…and many more attributes. In Isaiah 9, the birth of Jesus that takes place in the New Testament, describes Jesus as “wonderful, counselor, mighty God and everlasting Father. God is beyond our comprehension. To me the one trait about God that I will never fully understand is his love for us. The God of the universe, the maker of heaven and earth, created a world for us to live in, knowing that we would fall into sin and reject Him. And yet, He never gives up on us and sent His Son Jesus into this sin cursed earth to die on a cross for sins that are mine. Amazing.
This does not even scratch the surface about Who is God but I hope it gives you some thoughts or a start.
Blessings,
Daryl
