I have a question which is a bit off topic. I live a life of sin and I want that to change because I don’t want to perish. I believe in God, and have said prayers to repent and ask for His forgiveness of my sins but I am not sure if he has listened because he has not communicated with me in any way. Is there anything I must do for this to change? Is it because I am not born again? Should I be batised again? Your answers will be much appreciated.

Dear Segun,

My heart was moved when I read your comment. It has to be terribly difficult to struggle with sin and yet desire to live righteously. I pray for you to see the truth that Christ died for your sins so that you no longer have to live in slavery to the desires of your flesh. The Bible teaches the truth that if you confess that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, that you will be saved (Romans 10:9-10) and that whoever calls on the name of the Lord will be saved (Romans 10:13). It is your faith in an unseen God that will lead you to Christ. All believers will struggle with their sinful nature until we cross over from death to eternity. Yet through the power of the Holy Spirit, we are given power to overcome sin. If you’ve confessed and believed in Christ, you are saved. You don’t have to hear anything, see anything, or even feel anything to know that you’ve gone from the darkness of an unbeliever to the light of Jesus Christ. It is a journey that has many mountain top and valley experiences. It’s not an easy way to go about life–but it is so worth it. My prayer for you is that you will step up and out in faith (believing in a God you can’t see). Don’t give up praying. Don’t give up reading the Bible. Don’t give up going to church. Keep pushing yourself to follow after Christ even when you don’t feel like He is listening. Because He lives! He hears! He knows you…right where you are now. Jesus Christ is your answer. Amen.

Thanks for the reply. I will continue to read the bible and pray to God so that he guides me on the righteous path.
