Who or What is a Side A Christian? Who or What is a Side B Christian?

Side B Christians

Many Christians have compromised biblical truth about sexual immorality and so some now say there is a Side A Christian, Side B Christiasn and so on, so who or what is Side A and Side B Christians? Side A Christians are those who believe that sexual attractions to members of the same sex are okay and that God blesses sex between members of the same sex within certain boundaries. Side B Christians are “Christians” who acknowledge that their sexual orientation is open to their choice. Not all of them, but some. The term Side B derives from an Internet forum where Side A Christians, with an affirming view of LGBT sexuality, were contrasted with Side B Christians, so this is a group of openly LGBTQ Christians who, while embracing their sexual orientation, also believe God designs sex and marriage to occur exclusively between a man and a woman. The group, called “Side B” (as opposed to Side A Christians who celebrate same-sex marriage and sex), is a largely virtual community that sits in the middle of a culture war. Over the years, Side B has felt less like a theological position and more like a distinct sub subculture. Actually, there is only one Christian (and not really Side A, Side B and so on). All others are imitations or frauds from the Devil. True Christians strive to avoid sin, particularly sexual immorality.

Truth Divides

They rightfully say that truth divides. It does. It divides truth from error. It divides false, satanic teaching from true biblical teaching, where for example, God created one male and one female for each other (Gen 1:27). The differences in their sex would give the relationship balance, so any differences in the biblical view of marriage and the liberal churches (and pastors) whose view on biblical marriage are skewed by society, changing with the times. Sadly, they forget God never changes (Mal 3:6-8), nor does His Word (Matt 24:35). These differences are indeed huge “dividing lines” as they separate false converts from true believers; the sheep from the goats. These will be the same ones that Jesus will turn away someday who believed they were saved (Matt 7:21-23) but practiced immorality. They changed their beliefs to fit society, thereby falling from grace.

Slaves to Sin

People can claim they’re Christian till they’re blue in the face, but in John 8:34 “Jesus answered them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who practices sin is a slave to sin” (John 8:34). They might think they’re free, claiming to be Christian but yet practicing sexual immorality. The truth is they are still “saves to sin and not the righteousness of God” (John 8:34). How do we know that? Jesus said “The slave does not remain in the house forever; the son remains forever” (John 8:35), so if the son does not remain in the house (or they have not fully trusted in Christ but in themselves), they are still a slave to sin and Satan (2 Cor 4:3-4). Notice the close parallel of Leviticus 18:30 where God’s Law says to “keep my charge never to practice any of these abominable customs that were practiced before you, and never to make yourselves unclean by them: I am the LORD your God.”

God’s Unchanging Word

God’s Word doesn’t change with the times because God’s Word is timeless and eternally true. Society changes but we must not change God’s teaching in order to suit it and the world’s lifestyle. Being a friend of the world makes you an enemy of God (James 4:4). Besides, preaching the gospel suits any society. We must forever and always contend for the original faith that was once and for all delivered to us (Jude 1:3), and deliver exactly the same to others (Mark 1:15; Matt 28:18-20; Acts 1:8; Jude 1:23-24).

True Love

Many professing Christians who say it’s okay to live in unnatural relationships (men with men and women with women) believe its okay because they “love” the other person. If they love them, it must be okay in God’s eyes, but I am reminded that Eve loved the forbidden fruit in the Garden and bank robbers love money, so that’s no reason to live in disobedience. Besides, love and lust are too easily misidentified. What is often called manifest love is more often manifold lust. True love is displayed by obedience. Jesus said if you love Him, you will obey Him (John 14:15). Those who condone or approve of sexually immoral relationships think they are trying to expand how the church views love and kinship. That is why they give their approval of unbiblical relationships and actually condone or approve of such behavior.

Me-ology and Theology

Too such as these, the Apostle Paul says, “For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature” (Rom1:26). And in similar fashion, “the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error” (Rom 1:27). This type of illicit relationship is not only contrary to nature, it is sin against God and one’s own body (1 Cor 6:18). Sinning before God, especially in sexual immorality, is not a very loving thing to do for God, and it actually destroys any “kinship,” unless you count kinship with the world. True love of God is obeying God and His Word, the Bible, not compromising with His Word. The Bible teaches theology but liberals have always taught “me-ology.”

What Does The Bible Say About Same Sex Marriage

You shall not lie with a male as one lies with a female; it is an abomination“ (Lev 18:22).

The New “Normal?”

Think hard on this. It’s not only those who practice sexually immoral lifestyles that will be condemned (unless they repent), but those who give their approval of it. When society condones or approves of sexually immoral lifestyles as “normal,” then society and the people in it will suffer God’s judgment too. Every celebrity or false pastor who supports same sex marriage will share in their judgment. So says the Apostle Paul who wrote, “Though they know God’s righteous decree that those who practice such things deserve to die, they not only do them but give approval to those who practice them” (Rom 1:32). They know about God’s righteousness and so are without excuse (Rom 1:18-22), so it’s not only “those who practice such things” who will face God’s wrath (Rom 2:2), but also those who “give approval to those who practice them,” and do so publically and politically.

Practicing Sexual Sin

I played basketball as a youth and I had to practice it every day. I loved it, so that’s why I practiced it a lot. Those who are still lost practice sin every day and give no thought to it, but we who know Christ now “fall” into sin and do not practice it like we would a sport we love. We strive to avoid it, and fall as we may, we don’t dive into it like lost sinners do (and we once did; 1 Cor 6:11). That’s what Paul means be practicing. He writes that “the sexually immoral, men who practice homosexuality, enslavers, liars, perjurers, and whatever else is contrary to sound doctrine” (1 Tim 1:10). The Bible is crystal clear that “the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality” (1 Cor 6:9), so you and I “may be sure of this, that everyone who is sexually immoral or impure, or who is covetous (that is, an idolater), has no inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God” (Eph 5:5). There is only one side to Christianity…the right side in Christ.

Conclusion

I pray you’ve already trusted in Christ and repented of your sins and that you will abstain from sexual immorality, knowing God does not approve and those who practice these things as a lifestyle will not enter the kingdom. If you have still not trusted in Christ, you will surely face God’s judgment after death (Heb 9:27) or at Christ’s appearance (Rev 20:12-15), whichever comes first. I plead with you right now to make today your day of salvation (2 Cor 6:2), because only then can you stand before God, having Jesus’ own righteousness (2 Cor 5:21). If that’s true, I will see you in the Kingdom!
