It didn’t say that the rich young ruler did or didn’t know Jesus, I believe that he didn’t fully understand how to achieve eternal life. He didn’t realize that he was sinning, he had a sincere desire to wanna know how to have eternal life. Therefore Jesus had to enlighten him by asking the young ruler to sell all of his belongings and follow him. In which the young ruler violated the 1st Commandment, but was his heart genuine I believe so but Jesus had to enlighten him on doing some soul searching, just like some of use today who don’t realize that they’re committing a sin because they lack certain wisdom and understanding of God’s word. He had to have heard about the miracles that Jesus this teacher had performed in the past ( healing people one after the other, restoring site to the blind casting out demons, walking on water, which led him to kneel before Jesus and ask the question that the Pharisees, Sadducees and others couldn’t properly answer
Thank you Darryl. Insightful comment sir. I appreciate it.
