Hello, David! 😀 I seek not to divide anyone over this, but why are the Matthew and Mark accounts of the “greatest in heaven” debacle different? According to Matthew, the disciples simply asked Jesus who would be the greatest in Heaven, and Jesus rebuked them by setting a child in their midst. But according to Mark, the disciples were ARGUING who was greatest, Jesus asked what they were arguing about, and they stayed silent out of shame. Then Jesus set the child in their midst. Which one should I believe? Do I believe both of them?
Which testimony is correct? I apologise for putting this burden on you.

Thanks, Jack H

I know this is quite a few years old, but to answer your question, there is the factor that you have to take in to consideration that they were two different people, so they both had their own perspectives of what had happened.
Perhaps Matthew did not think it was necessary to put the fact that they were arguing in his documentation, but Mark did want to point that out. The difference between their accounts of the situation is based off of what stood out of them the most. So it is of importance to believe both of them, and just read with understanding.

PS. Maybe Mark was sitting further away from YAHUSHA (Jesus) and closer to the majority of them who were arguing, and Matthew was closer to YAHUSHA so he didn’t hear them arguing, but as it stands, YAHUSHA knows everything, so he put a stop to their secret little argument. Lol.
