So true, these days there are more and more people who are so stressed that it is also effecting them physically and myself included. When one confides in me these troubles I recite what Jesus tells us in the bible, the best “how to” book of life., in Matthew 6:34 ESV “Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.”
This has helped me so much, that I am much calmer now, thanks be to God. Amazingly the more you read the bible, the answers are all there. Thank God for Jesus, he tells us everything.
Thanks Robert for another great article.

Thank you for reading and the nice comments. You are absolutely right; the longer I am a Christian, the more I realize the truth that God’s way is THE way. When we do things His way, it is always better. God bless you.
Yours in Christ,

Another great article Robert! This is the same question I have been asking folks this past month., “What does Salvation mean?”. What are we saved from? Many answer, “My sins”, others “For Heaven”, but few want to talk about the reality of “From eternal separation from God where the fire is not quenched and the worm dies not”. I think it is just too much for us to fathom, or else we do not want others to think we are being judgmental and exclusive about the fate of “All” mankind apart from Christ.

I think a more euphemistic approach to this topic is to remind folks that “all” of humanity is under judgment and that we are “all” out of God’s grace because of breaking God’s Laws(sin), as you have pointed out. We are “all” in trouble!

Buddha, Confucius, Joseph Smith, Mohammed, et al, reconcile this dilemma “all” of us have by requiring our works to make us right with God. Only Jesus Christ makes us right through His sacrifice on our behalf. Our debt is paid! He “SAVES” us from eternal damnation and separation from God and restores our fellowship with the Father. We are now legitimate children, adopted through His sacrifice. Oh the Glory of this wonderful thought…we are Redeemed!

Can’t you hardly wait! We have not even imagined. The picture that comes to my mind (I am currently reading “Bonhoeffer” by Eric Mataxes) is myself in a line, naked, being led into the ovens at Auschwitz during WWll. The smell is wrenching, the cruel guards are unfeeling, the glow from the ovens await, and Here He Comes…our Redeemer, scooping us out from the line, enfolding us in His arms, telling us through the unspoken love in His eyes that He loves us and that He is taking us home to a place which he has been preparing for us to live FOREVER with the One who loves us beyond measure!

Yet we look back and there are so many yet in line! What are we doing while we have breath to help rescue them from their fate? Are we telling them about the Redeemer?

Thank you again for this great reminder about what we are saved from!!

Great article I only wish that we could be saved from all of the evil that exists in the world today.
Glory be to God

Essentially what we’re saved from is ourselves. Condemnation / hell is the result of pride; Satan is a deceiver, but we’re the ones who choose. God gave us a will, then God saves us from the potential destructive end of our having a will (pride), and asks us to choose to be humble and become a conduit for His will.

Exactly right Michael. Very few seem to understand this. Self is the real problem that we need to be saved from. A gospel, or a God who only forgives our sins but doesn’t change our inner sin nature is only cleansing the outside of the cup or tomb. Taking us to heaven with just our sins forgiven but our nature unchanged would make heaven into hell. Jesus died on the cross to change our nature; to begin the work of transforming us to become just like Him. To inject His very nature / spirit into us. To make us new creations. If we don’t get that we’re not saved. If anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not his.
