I John 5:14-15 has helped me very much for many dark days past. Thank you for the above verses.

Robert July 6, 2012 at 9:36 am

Daryl,
The words of the Bible are the words of God: powerful, comforting, encouraging. I can see why you struggled. It would be tempting to include the entire biblical text. God bless you.
Yours in Christ,
Robert

I prayed for you today Ian. We can never change our past but God tells us what we need to do about our past. First, confess our sin to God. This needs to be your first step. The Bible talks about this and uses the word repentance to show that we need to confess our sin and then to turn away from it. We will never be perfect and will continue to sin but true repentance is when we seek forgiveness for our sin and show the desire to not do it any more. I pray that God will restore you and that your faith can be strengthened through it.
Blessings,
Daryl

I find that Deuteronomy 4:29 helps me when I’m struggling.

“But if from there you seek the Lord your God, you will find him if you seek him with all your heart and with all your soul.”

It does not matter what your past contains. God knows all sins we have committed and will ever commit and still forgives us and loves us. This does not mean we should give up and sin anyway, but rather that He knows that we will falter. I prayed for you and wish you all the best.

Ian Watson November 15, 2012 at 10:16 am

Hi Amanda,

Thank You for praying for me when I need help from the Lord. Thank You for your comment. Things seem to be getting better, I am not as afraid as I was, I seem more peaceful in my Spirit, So the Prayers of Christians do work when they intercede for others. Pastor Daryl has also prayed for me as well as you, Thank You both for your help and encouragement.

May the Lord help you also in your daily life too.

Thank You Amanda

Ian,

Trust me, if God can forgive a sinner like me, you’ve got no worries at all!!!

Take care.

michael May 1, 2013 at 6:42 am

Ian God has not given you a spirit of fear but he comes to strengthen you in your weakness with His spiritual power that is available to you if you have the faith to receive it. The christian life is a walk of faith each day, but the beauty of it is that as time goes by we begin to understand more and more of God’s word as it slowly molds us and shapes us into the image of Jesus Christ. That’s why we need patience in order to persevere. Be strong and courageous and know that God loves you just the way you are.

Daryl,

Thanks for this list. I used it to add some passages to my personal “list”.

That said, I’ll give you one of my faves … Philippians 2:1-11 is a great passage!

Chris January 6, 2013 at 8:02 pm

Wow this is a great list! Thank you for putting this and keep it up!

For me, it is difficult to be close to God. I don’t have any friends who are serious about Christ and I am not from a Christian family. I am worried that my father will not accept Jesus. Also, I have no clue where I am going because I don’t know if I’ll be in university. Hopefully God will restore me.

My favourite verse is in Psalms. This might be because I often times do not get enough sleep:

It is vain for you to rise up early, to retire late, to eat the bread of painful labors; for He gives to His beloved even in his sleep.

Hello all,
As I sit crying, I realized a life with God and Lord Jesus Christ is a life wasted. All the Inge I once cared so much about seem so trivial and frivolous. God Bless You All in your journeys!

Amen

mark July 9, 2017 at 10:46 pm

Thank you. God BLess you too. May we all put GOD first.

Diamond Moore March 31, 2013 at 8:44 pm

Correction, I meant a life without.

michael May 1, 2013 at 6:50 am

Through Jesus Christ our heavenly father is reconciling us all back to the relationship we were always supposed to have with him. We were born into a fallen, sinful world but God has made a way for each and every person no matter where we’ve come from. The desire of his heart is that ” none should perish “. So be encouraged and quit looking at your circumstances and keep your eyes on Jesus through every trial and challenge that comes your way. God bless all that you do !

Fanny May 29, 2013 at 5:54 pm

Hi Ian,

My name is Fanny, I am currently living in the UK with a friend of mine in search of a job and then getting a place of my own. I have applied for a lot of jobs but get one rejection after the other. I read some of the bible verses about strength yesterday.

I don’t want to be discourage but I do get like that sometimes could you please show me the best verse to fall back on when I am feeling down? Or an example of some one in the bible that faced a similar situation?

God bless you

Robert May 30, 2013 at 9:15 am

Hi Fanny,
This is one that I have memorized. It assures me that God is in control of my life, no matter how I feel or whether or not I understand what’s going on…I can trust Him. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths” (Proverbs 3:5-6 ESV). Keep in mind though, that verses aren’t magic words, their power lies in God, and we appropriate that strength through our continued faith (trust) in Him. God bless you, Fanny.
Yours in Christ,
Robert

I am sorry I meant Robert not Ian

Brian June 21, 2013 at 11:54 pm

Hi,
I am just so lost in my walk with God. I am currently attending a bible holiness church and have been for a little over a year and I enjoy it. I don’t know if any will read this but I need pray and a lot of spiritual guidance. I have ditches a church service before because I knew if I stayed I would have been saved by God and I just hate myself for denying salvation time after time. I am so lost and I have no idea why I am so scared to become a saved Christian but at the same time I want it. If you could just pray for me whoever reads this I sould greatly appreciate it.
– sincerely,
Brian

Daryl Evans June 25, 2013 at 1:57 pm

I have prayed for you today Brian. I pray that you will give your heart and life over to God. It sounds as if you are fearful to do that for some reason that Satan is putting in your mind. There is nothing like being in the family of God. God calls us (his followers) adopted children. Which is so amazing in the fact that God chooses us to be part of His family even though we sin and even though we disobey Him. Yet He still calls out to us and desires that we come to Him. He is an amazing God and I hope and pray that you come to know that.

luke Stevenson July 13, 2013 at 12:21 pm

“The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother’s keeper and the finder of lost children. I will carry out great vengeance on them and punish them in my wrath. Then they will know that I am the Lord, when I take vengeance on them.”

Joshua D. December 8, 2013 at 12:49 am

Thank for posting these verses from the Bible, they are good to read again and to think about them in depth and apply them to my life. I also made sure to pray for all of those who asked for prayer in the comments above. Stay strong and know that God says that he will never give you more than you can bare in your life. I do not know the exact phrasing or verse name and number for that one, sadly, but it’s in there. God bless all of you and most especially his children who have lost their way or have not found the Lord yet.

And have a very Merry Christmas! This is one place where I hope I never have to read “Happy Holidays”, as a sad, sad, substitution for the only reason for the season, our Lord’s Birthday, Christmas. I have to continually ask God to give me strength when I hear or see people, especially secular progressives, attempting to diminish or eradicate Christmas from society, public view and conscieniousness. I think we need more outspoken Christians who will stand strong and fight back against these secular progressives and others who attempt to remove all things God from our country, our country that has only flourished and was built by the wisdom and strength of the Holy Lord. The day that we stop fighting these evil people, is the day that our nation truly falls apart for good.

The reason that I clicked on this list, is because I was wanting the exact verse for the one that says something to the effect of – all it takes for evil to prosper, is for good men (and something else??), to do nothing. I don’t know it very accurately as you can tell, I am sure. But that was the gist of it, you hear it quoted constantly, and many times I hear it attributed to someone or something other than the Holy Bible, and I really wanted to know the verse name and number. So, if anyone would please help me out with that verse, I would appreciate it very much and I thank you in advance. Thanks and God bless you all.

I’m a new Christian just delving into the New Testament. I found Mark 5:14 to be especially beautiful.

Amanda May 10, 2016 at 11:44 pm

I find that the more I am educated, the less I rely on the Bible for guidance. I tend to explain things away through science and logic. I have a B.A. In English and a masters in education and am a teacher. I see so much pain and suffering everyday that I have come to see the Bible as a beautiful piece of literature and history more than anything else, but as a Christian I also recognize it as the holy word of God, as well. I struggle trusting God in all things because I’m so practical and logical and self sufficient. I am also a single mother, you see. I struggle trusting anyone but myself. 🙂 I find that simple prayer and reflection is helpful, so I’m asking for prayers in the hope that I can start trusting him and relying on him more and on myself less while maintaining a non-judge mental attitude towards my students who are from differing backgrounds, religions, and cultures. With that being said, my favorite verse is the following: “It is not only the old who are wise, not only the aged who understand what is right…they are dismayed and have no more to say; words have failed them…(but) God does speak—now one way, now another—though man may not perceive it.” Thanks so much, Robert for the list of verses. You chose beautifully.

The Bible to me is similar to a battery . It recharges me for my weekly walk. I think it has to be read slowly and digested and prayed upon . My favourite verses is Philippians 4. 13. “I can do all things through Him who strengthens me “

Hearken to me, ye that follow after righteousness, ye that seek the Lord: look to the rock whence ye are hewn, and unto the hole of the pit whence ye are digged.
