Can Christians Be Demon Possessed? A Biblical Analysis

by Jack Wellman · Print Print · Email Email

Is it possible for a demon to take possession of a believer in Christ?  Who can be possessed by demons?  Has demon possession happened in the past?  Does demon possession still happen today?

Is it Possible For a Demon to Take Possession of a Believer in Christ?

Can a believer in Jesus Christ, who has been born-again and saved be possessed by the devil or by a demon or fallen angel?  The short answer is no.  The Bible seems very clear about who is in control of the spiritual world.  In 1 John 4:4 it says, “You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.”  Christians are called children of God and the Holy Spirit dwells within each and every believer.  Demons can not occupy the same space that is occupied by God the Holy Spirit because God is greater than any evil spirit since God is the Creator of everything, including angels.  This supremacy of God includes even the fallen angels or demons.   We can know and recognize false spirits and by God’s Spirit we can discern them and resist them since God lives inside every believer (1 John 4:15).

Who can be Possessed by Demons?

Every time we see Jesus or the apostles casting out demons, they are people who don’t know Jesus yet and those who are not saved. We can read the many stories of demons or wicked spirits being caste out by the power of Jesus’ name or by Jesus Himself and then and only then can they come to faith in Christ.   Mary Magdalene was demon possessed when she came to Jesus for help.  Luke 8:1-3 says, “After this, Jesus traveled about from one town and village to another, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom of God. The Twelve were with him, and also some women who had been cured of evil spirits and diseases [including] Mary (called Magdalene) from whom seven demons had come out…”.

Again, every time you read of someone being possessed by demons or wicked spirits, they are always unbelievers.  Another example is in Matthew 8:28-33, “When he arrived at the other side in the region of the Gadarenes, two demon-possessed men coming from the tombs met him. They were so violent that no one could pass that way. “What do you want with us, Son of God?” they shouted. “Have you come here to torture us before the appointed time?” Some distance from them a large herd of pigs was feeding.  The demons begged Jesus, “If you drive us out, send us into the herd of pigs.” He said to them, “Go!” So they came out and went into the pigs, and the whole herd rushed down the steep bank into the lake and died in the water. Those tending the pigs ran off, went into the town and reported all this, including what had happened to the demon-possessed men.”

Has Demon Possession Happened in the Past?

In Mark 5:15-20, Jesus exorcised a demon possessed man and so we know that this happened many times in the past from reading the New Testament.  In the case of the man that had the demons cast out, he became a believer in Christ.  This clearly indicates that if you are not a believer, it is possible to be possessed by demons, however once you come to faith in Christ, it is impossible since God dwells within the believer.  Mark 5:15-20 shows that those who lived in the area knew a certain man who was possessed and were afraid to go near him:  “When they came to Jesus, they saw the man who had been possessed by the legion of demons, sitting there, dressed and in his right mind; and they were afraid. Those who had seen it told the people what had happened to the demon-possessed man—and told about the pigs as well.  Then the people began to plead with Jesus to leave their region. As Jesus was getting into the boat, the man who had been demon-possessed begged to go with him. Jesus did not let him, but said, “Go home to your own people and tell them how much the Lord has done for you, and how he has had mercy on you.”  So the man went away and began to tell in the Decapolis how much Jesus had done for him. And all the people were amazed.”  Here the man that was freed from a legion of demons.  This is incredible since a legion in Roman occupied Palestine was 6,000.  This formerly demon possession man then began to tell others about Jesus Christ.  From that day forward, this man would never have to worry about being demon possessed again.

Does Demon Possession Still Happen Today?

Since demon possession has happened in the past then it most certainly can be happening today.  There are numerous stories of people being possessed in modern times.  Many times they are dabbling in the occult, trying to contact spirits, and some even openly worship the Devil.  This is truly asking for trouble.  The first king of Israel, king Saul, was troubled by an evil spirit but it was only after the Spirit of God had departed him (1 Sam 16:14-23).

Jesus gives a clear warning about wicked spirits in Matthew 12:43-45 saying, “When an evilf spirit comes out of a man, it goes through arid places seeking rest and does not find it. Then it says, ‘I will return to the house I left.’ When it arrives, it finds the house unoccupied, swept clean and put in order. Then it goes and takes with it seven other spirits more wicked than itself, and they go in and live there. And the final condition of that man is worse than the first. That is how it will be with this wicked generation.”

Today there are so many stories of demon or wicked spirits possessing people that it is clear that it still happens today.  There is truly only one way to avoid be possessed by a wicked spirit or demon; to accept Jesus Christ and believe in Him for no wicked spirit can dwell where the Spirit of God dwells.  Demons can not occupy any place that God has conquered (1 John 4).  You can know for sure that demons will never possess you because, “If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in them and they in God” (I John 4:15).  That is your true assurance that wicked spirits or demons will never possess you.  If God lives in us, it is impossible (1 John 4:12b).

Good point Jack … indeed a believer can not be “possessed” by a demon, however, they can be tempted by one. This happens when they walk in the flesh and quench the Spirit that is within telling them to do right.

It is so good to know that “Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.” (1 John 4:4 KJV)

I love reading what you write Jack, you are a blessing to me!

Recently i believe my friend was possessed by a demon. She had not fully brought Christ into her life. She would always act strange and would freak out anytime i talked about God. She sometimes ate coal, and threatened to shoot her little brother. I knew that was not her. One day i cam back from church. The preacher said if you tell an evil spirit it can not harm you because you are Saved, or if you say it needs to leave and you are a true believer then tell it to leave. Next time i was over and she started acting wierd, i said “Leave for the strength of God is greater than yours” and it all ended. I was never troubled by a demon again.
God bless everyone and have a nice holiday 🙂

Can you explain Luke 22:3? The verse says “Then Satan entered Judas, called Iscariot, one of the Twelve.” Can you explain whether Judas was possessed? Wasn’t he a believer in Christ? Though I agree the born-again Believers cannot be possessed, this passage has always troubled me.
Thank you.

Jackie, thank you for visiting our website. Great question indeed. A believer in Christ can not ever be demon possessed. In every Scripture which refers to spiritual attacks, Paul, nor any of the New Testament writers ever mention this happening nor warning us that it could happen. There is zero record of it happening in the New Testament church. The Scripture that says, “every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world. You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you (the Holy Spirit) is greater than the one who is in the world (the devil) [1 John 4:3-4].

Judas was never a true follower of Jesus. His only god was money. In fact, the only other time the phrase “son of perdition” is used to refer to anyone other than Judas is in reference to the Antichrist, the sworn enemy of every believer in the end times.

Judas was chosen by Jesus. Jesus knew what Judas would do. He had every chance, like the other disciples, to be saved. If had been, Jesus still would have found a way to accomplish His sacrifice. But, Jesus knew from the beginning that Judas would be against him.

Also, the Bible says that after the Last Supper, the devil entered Judas. Believers can be oppressed by the devil, but they can’t be possessed by him. That’s because, God, in the form of the Holy Spirit, resides in each believer. “‘Did I Myself not choose you, the twelve, and yet one of you is a devil?’ Now He meant Judas the son of Simon Iscariot, for he, one of the twelve, was going to betray Him” (John 6:70-71).

I hope this helps in answering your question Jackie. Thank you for visiting us and for your great question.

I believe all “true believers in Christ” are free of demonic possession or oppression, though the devil/satan/deceiver/liar uses all tactics to snatch away a believer from Christ.
A believer’s actions or reactions like demonic behavior, must definitely be connected to the level of spirituality of that person. So I believe “SPIRITUAL ADMONITION” is what is needed in a believer who behaves like a Demon. Little devils are like lack of nutrients which prevents a healthy spiritual growth, and “spiritual immaturity” is the right word.
All believers need “spiritual nutrients” like vitamin supplements & spiritual admonition like detoxification of your system to become a healthy spiritual person.

All demons will tremble at His presence!!!A well fed, well nourished believer will reflect God’s Glory!!.
The true essence of a true believer is reflecting God’s glory.
( when we change into his likeness..we would reflect God’s glory )
God’s ultimate purpose for creating man is for His own glory..but how could fallen man reflect God’s glory?
How could God’s people reflect His glory?
When would the message of Habakkuk,God’s original plan of creation be accomplished?
For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea.(HAB.2:14)
God came from Teman, the Holy One from Mount Paran. Selah His glory covered the heavens and his praise filled the earth(HAB.3:3)
THEME OF GENESIS TO REVELATION & BACK TO GENESIS 1:26,27
GEN 1:26Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, in our likeness,
2 COR.3:18And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.
REV.22:11The grace of the Lord Jesus be with God’s people. Amen.

REFLECTIONS
1)WHAT IS GOD’S MESSAGE TO HIS PEOPLE FROM GENESIS TO REVELATION?(we should reflect God’s Glory & His likeness?)
2)WHAT GOD EXPECTS FROM MAN ?(we should be transformed into His likeness?)
3) WHY GOD SENT CHRIST TO DIE FOR MAN?(to give man the free gift of Salvation & Grace to His people to reflect His Son so that we would be transformed into His likeness?)
1)God created man in His image, in His likeness (GEN.1:26,27)
2) We…are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory(2 COR.3:18)
3) God’s people are blessed with the grace of the Lord Jesus (REV.22:11)

Last night I was attacked by satan. I was at a friends house so we began praying. The voice that was comming out of me was not completely mine. Eventually the pastors from my church came and prayed for me. I am very confused because I am saved & have been baptised in Jesus’ name. Also, I live my life for Christ. I try to bring glory to Him in everything I do. I believe that I was attacked because I opened up doors (I played video games where they worship satan). Does this mean I am not actually saved? :/

Jess, thank you for your comment or question. The Bible is clear…no believer in Christ can be possessed or taken over, even a voice, by the devil or evil spirits. If you were possessed, then you were surely not saved. I would also warn you to stay away from such video games where satan is worshiped. No true believer plays such games. If you are trying to bring Christ glory in “everything” you do, then why are you playing these types of evil games? If you are not sure you are saved, I urge you, right now, to click on the link at the top of the webpage called “Come to Jesus” to see if you are and if you are not, then read how you can place your faith in Christ today and be saved with certainty. You can also click on this link to go to it Jess.

I’m sorry but I don’t think that you have the ability to judge if someone is saved or not. Only God can judge. You cannot say that playing a video game makes someone not a true believer. No Christian brings glory to God in everything. Every Christian falls short of the glory of God every single day, every single minute. But by his grace we are saved, not by our works or what we don’t do. That is the most amazing act done in the history of humanity!
Ask God:)

I have a question. I have read some other articles about Christians having a evil spirit in them or attached to them and one article said that humans are made up of there parts. Body, soul, and spirit. Since Christians have the holy spirit dwelling in the spirit part of them, the devil can’t touch that part. But that he could get into our bodies and our soul. Is this true? It’s very confusing for me. Thanks for the help in advance 🙂

Thank you Christina for your questions. You may have read some other articles that state that Christians can have an evil spirit but do they have a supporting Bible Scriptures? No, they do not, so they have no such authority and in fact the Bible is crystal clear that no Christian can ever be possessed or get into our bodies or souls. That is not possible. Did you read the article? It will reassure you that this is impossible for the Holy Spirit and an evil spirit or the Devil to be in the same person at the same time. One verse alone shoots this down where it says in 1 John 4:4 “You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.”

Now, go back and read the rest of this article and see just how many Bible verses back that up. I hope this helped.

As for the argument the Holy Spirit will not dwell with a devil in the same body, why not? There is no verse we know of that even suggests this is impossible. (And the verse the you gave did not say this either. if you read the verse right before the one you gave 1 John 4:2 (KJV)
2 Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:
which the demon possessed man in Mk. 5 states then that spirit was of God? no!) Furthermore, the Holy Spirit dwells in the same body the Christian dwells in, and the old nature of a Christian is as wicked as the devil if not more so. Have you not read, “The heart is deceitful ABOVE ALL THINGS, and desperately wicked: who can know it” (Jer. 17:9)? The heart of man, including Christians, is extremely wicked. When it comes to a inclination toward evil and ability to sin, Satan has nothing on man’s deceitful heart. Though the Devil has much more power than man to bring his evil intentions to pass, there is no proof he has more of a capacity for evil than man. In fact Jeremiah 17:9 indicates man may be more deceitful than he! When a born again Christian yields to his old nature and sins, the Holy Spirit is no less exposed to evil than if a devil was indwelling the believer!

Another argument against possession is since the believer has been born again, redeemed by the blood of Christ, and Satan has been defeated at the cross, Satan has no right of access to the believer’s body, but this is just more wishful thinking. True, Satan is a defeated foe, but he has not been taken out of the picture yet and won’t be until Revelation 20:10. Furthermore, even though Christ’s blood is sufficient to redeem all things, all things, including a Christian’s body, have not yet been redeemed (Rom. 8:23). When a Christian receives Christ nothing happens to his body. The believer’s soul is redeemed and his spirit reborn but his body remains unchanged. The proof is his body can still die and decay.

The only nature a lost man has is the fallen, Adamic nature he was born with, and through it Satan has full access to him. Christians also have this old, fallen nature and will retain it until death or the rapture, and since it, in itself, is no different than the lost man’s, Satan still has access to them too (Eph. 4:27). That Christians also have a new, righteous nature they received when they were born again (which is actually Christ’s very own nature and not susceptible to Satan’s attacks, Eph. 4:24), does not alter the fact their body is yet unredeemed and their “old man” is still vulnerable to satanic temptation, oppression or even more (Eph. 4:22-32).

When asked to produce Scriptural support or proof that it is impossible for a Christian to be possessed, one verse that is almost universally referred to is 1 John 4:4, “Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.” This verse is quoted as if it removes any threat of satanic or demonic influence over a believer, but look at the passage closely. John is simply reassuring believers they are of God, over comers in Christ, and have the ultimate victory over spirits that “confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh” (1 Jn. 4:3).

When a person is born again he is placed in Christ and Christ comes in him, and the believers destiny with Christ is certain. John is here comforting believers by reminding them of this and reassures them by insisting there is nothing Satan or anyone else can do about it. He is not saying believers are immune any type of satanic influence or cannot suffer in the flesh. As we have seen, other passages clearly state Satan does have access to believers. In fact Peter said to believers, “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may DEVOUR” (1 Pet 5:8).

The Case For Possession

I know of no passage in the Bible that says, in so many words, that a Christian can be demon possessed. But as we have just seen, there is no verse that conclusively says one can’t. However, there is a passage or two that strongly suggests the possibility of possession and they deserve examination.

In 2 Cor 11:3-4 Paul makes a rather revealing statement about Christians and other spirits, “But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtility, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him.”

By saying, “if ye receive ANOTHER SPIRIT, which ye have NOT received” Paul is indicating that a Christian who already has the Holy Spirit can receive another spirit besides! Some may argue Paul is speaking to lost people in the Corinthian church, but that doesn’t hold up. First, Paul is concerned their minds have been corrupted by Satan (through a false teacher) from the simplicity of receiving and resting in Christ for salvation. He said in verse 2 he was “jealous over [them] with a godly jealously: for I have espoused you to one husband…” that is, Christ. Paul wouldn’t espouse lost people to Christ. Furthermore, he says they could receive “ANOTHER spirit” which they did not receive previously (when he was with them). The Spirit they received when he presented them the gospel was the Holy Spirit! He also said they could receive another (false) gospel which they “have not [previously] accepted.” This indicates they accepted the true gospel while Paul was with them because the “another gospel” was not preached by him. I know this passage is somewhat confusing, but read it carefully with prayer and the Lord will help us understand.

Paul was aggravated with the Corinthians because after he presented them the gospel and they accepted it, someone else came along preaching another Jesus, gospel, and offering another spirit other than what Paul preached. Paul bluntly and somewhat sarcastically tells them if they think they will fare better with the other Jesus, gospel, and spirit, “ye might well bear with him” (the false teacher). The point we are trying to make, however, is the possibility of a Christian being able to accept and receive another Jesus (demons have been known to call themselves “Jesus” to fool people), gospel, and spirit is implied in this passage. Since they already had the Holy Spirit, the only other spirits that indwell people are devils. Though angels are “ministering spirits,” there is no indication in the Bible that angels can indwell anyone. There is nothing to indicate Paul was referring to something that was impossible for them. Christians still have their free will after they receive Christ.

In light of the above one could ask, “If a Christian could be possessed, is the possession as extensive as that of a possessed lost person?” Here we must answer “yes and no.” If it is true a Christian can be possessed he cannot be completely possessed because there is a part of every believer (the new nature) that is of God and is incorruptible; Satan can’t touch it. If a believer is possessed, he is only possessed in his old, Adamic nature. This is unlike the lost man who only has the old nature; therefore, if he is possessed, he is completely possessed. But, on the other hand, to the Christian who is possessed (if possible), the possession would have the same effect as it would to a lost person. The person’s body and mind would be subject to a devil.

One may ask, here, and it is a reasonable question, “Why would the Lord allow one of His children to become possessed since He indwells him and has redeemed him?” But let’s not stop with just this question. Why would the Lord allow a blood-bought believer to fall in love with the world and live after the flesh after he gets saved? Why would He allow them to lie, cheat, steal, deceive, cause trouble with other believers, ruin his testimony, malign God’s name, be vain, proud, arrogant, envious, jealous, and a dozen other sins and vices? The simple answer is God does not override or nullify man’s free will.

If a man has no free will he is little more than a robot. God wants people to choose to be saved by Him (no Hyper-Calvinism here) and also choose to live for Him once saved. If a believer insists in following his own will and ignores God’s will for him, then the Lord will chastise him one way or another (sometimes the results of self-will and living after the flesh bring their own chastisement). And if a believer by dabbling in the occult or otherwise moving toward Satan’s domain ends up getting oppressed or even possessed by devils, then the believer has no one to blame but himself. God admonishes, warns, and instructs His children in His word, but any who fail to heed His word usually suffer the consequences for their actions. There are many professing Christians in prisons and hospitals today for that very reason.

Thank you for your comment. I believe that Jehovah’s Witnesses are not Christian but a cult. Why do I say that?

According to Jehovah’s Witness’ theology, God is a single person, not a Trinity, who does not know all things and is not everywhere. He first created Michael the Archangel through whom He created all “other things, and when it came time for the savior to be born, Michael the Archangel became a human, in the form of Jesus. They refuse to vote, salute the flag, sing the “Star Spangled Banner,” celebrate birthdays or Christmas, won’t take blood transfusions, and they can’t join the armed forces. A schedule of door-to-door canvassing is required where you distribute the Watchtower literature, acquire donations, and forward all monies to the headquarters in Brooklyn, New York.

If you ever leave the Jehovah’s Witness organization, you are considered an apostate and are to be shunned.

Stay far away from this “church” because it is not the church that Jesus Christ built.

Hello Kaizerwaribo. Jesus is the Head of the Church. You can not stop false teachers from preaching false gospels. They will have to answer to Jesus and so they will not get away with this, believe me. How do you know that they are preaching heresy? Have you heard one of their sermons…or from other people? Yes, Christ is at hand but leave it up to Him for it is HIS church, not ours, even thou I am a pastor, I can’t stop other churches from doing this but God alone can change the human heart (Prov 21:1).

Hell again kaizerwaribo. he religion has been accused of doctrinal inconsistency and reversals, failed predictions, mistranslation of the Bible, harsh treatment of former members and autocratic and coercive leadership. Criticism has also focused on their rejection of blood transfusions, particularly in life-threatening medical situations, and claims that they have failed to report cases of sexual abuse to the authorities. Many of the claims are denied by Jehovah’s Witnesses and some have also been disputed by courts and religious scholars.

Failed predictions that were either explicitly stated or strongly implied, particularly linked to dates in 1914, 1918, 1925 and 1975, have led to the alteration or abandonment of some doctrines.

Underpinning the Watchtower Society is the doctrine that Jesus heavenly rule commenced 1914. 1914 contains original Watchtower quotes showing that prior to 1914 the Watchtower claimed that Jesus rule commenced 1874 and predicted that in 1914 Armageddon would destroy all religion, all government and that the dead would be resurrected on to earth. It is startling to see what the Watchtower now claims it said prior to 1914. Truth corresponds to ascertainable fact and if the Watchtower promotes falsehoods it is not Truth.

A couple questions… hopefully someone can helpme out here::
First- aren’t we all technically possessed by demons in a way? We all have desires to sin. Does that not come from within us? Or does it come from our surroundings? I have accepted Jesus as the only Son of God and my Savior but I am still addicted to drugs. More specifically the most evil drug I know of and that is methamphetamine. when I do the drug, when it’s inside of me, does that not count as a type of possession? Cuz I am a completely different person when I’m on meth .. or are man-made drugs such as this only the devil’s attempt to get people to not believe in God? I guess I just answered that question myself- cuz I always know that I believe in God even when I’m using… and I feel it eating away at my soul.. trying to take my faith.. which must be the reason for its creation..
So with that being said then, my next question is this:
I feel times in my life when my faith in God is very low and others where my faith in Him is really high. At times of low faith, is it possible for me to become possessed? Or is my belief deep down, my instinctual belief and knowledge of the Truth and where I come from- I’d that enough to keep me safe? I know I will never give up my belief in Christ but when my faith is low does that make me more vulnerable to demon possession.. ? Like could my faith get low enough that I will stop believing? I actually really don’t think that’s possible because I KNOW God- I have a personal relationship with Him, and I KNOW He is real.
So I guess in a way I answered my second question myself too.. I guess what I really wanna know is..
There are times when I am so terrified of evil.. I can’t be in the dark or I would have an anxiety attack.. in such times- could the devil depleted my faith enough to the point of possession?
Also I feel like I have demons inside of me even though I truly believe in God.. I have a good voice and a bad voice in my head.. one that tells me to do bad things and one that tells me not to..and furthermore, tells m to do good things- to help others.. or makes me feel guilty when I’ve done something wrong and repent.
This bad voice in my head- is it a demon? Or is it just sin’s temptation.. something we all have?
That makes me wanna ask- does everyone have these voices? Or do some have neither? Or only one or the other?
And another thing I was wondering (sorry I’m really full of questions right now- one question leads to the next.. it’s the way I live my life- question everything..break it down..and keep looking for the answers until I’m satisfied.. But I find my search to ultimately be insatiable because I will never know for sure.. not till I am with Him.. but rather, I come up with theories after research..theories that make sense to me and are ultimately what I believe as the Truth.)
Oh I also like to ramble I guess.. sorry.. but it helps me to learn..
Now I forgot what my next question is..
But thought of another…
People who sell their souls for fortune and fame- the undoubtedly become possessed correct? I was wondering if there was any hope for them..? I pray for them a lot.. I feel most of them were tricked into it.. and didn’t realize it till it was too late.. and obviously if you are possessed by demons, it is hard for them to see God.. are they victims of an inevitable doom because of one mistake they made? And especially I’d they realize the mistake but are addicted to the money and continue to serve the devil even though they know it’s wrong. (people in the music industry btw sell their souls in exchange for ultimate fortune and fame. and then they are controlled to do things or rap or sing about things that stupify and bring the masses away. away from God. Not ALL of them do this, but these days, it is happening so rapidly.. so much more than it has ever been.. it’s all part of an evil plan. but I won’t stray there.. back to the point) I just feel so deeply for these people.. the ones who were tricked.. the ones who feel they can’t escape.. the ones who feel hopeless and do anything to get rid of these feelings because they are so intense and don’t ever leave them alone.. I can relate firsthand to feeling like this.. actually I have a wonderful gift of being able to empathize with anyone on anything.. which is why I hurt so much when I see the world.. not just the pain of seeing the Truth..and the deception.. but also to pain of the whole world.. yeah and every person suffering.. I can feel it.. deep down to my soul… it hurts so much… I truly carry the weight of the world on my shoulders. and I am grateful for it because I see things differently than most- I see very deeply. I see the lies, I see the truth, and this gift if what led me to find and believe in God. but it is also a very heavy burden to carry…. so heavy I feel like I am going to break sometimes… and I just wanted to say that to explain why I use drugs. and how I know how they feel to want to escape their feelings. and most of hem do turn to drugs for that reason… anyways… I suppose this is enough babbling for me.. I totally got off the subject now.. lol..
I hope there is someone out there who can just.. Idk relate to my post.. give some feedback- thoughts, opinions, theories..?
One more question.. how do we save those who are possessed? I know priests can perform exorcisms but what about those who don’t have resources like that.. maybe they live on the street? Maybe they were just brought up wrong and it led to them beige possessed.. what if they had no choice and now have no control and no resources or no one to care enough about them to get them help? How do we save them? Or do we just pray for them.. and the Lord will exorcise. them when He returns?? I just.. I care so deeply for them.. and the children… the children… oh Lord have Mercy on the poor innocent children who are brainwashed by the media to not believe in You, Heavenly Father, the One and Only God, Creator of all things…
will the new generation.. the Godless generation who has been/will be manipulated from they day they are born.. preyed upon by evil- corrupted by the MEDIA to not believe in God…. will they be saved??? I pray for them…. that all I can do..
but that leads me to a question about sacrifice… Since Jesus sacrificed Himself for us… surely some of us will be sacrificed for Him as well in the end right? It would only make sense… everything has an opposite.. Idk how to begin explaining that but if you see things the way I do you know what I mean..
so the blind people.. will some of them end up being sacrificed for the good of all of us.. meaning.. will the follow the devil down into the pit of hell with blindfolds on because no one steered them the other way..no one warned them.. no one showed them the Truth. they do not know any better because they are blind. if they are blind they can’t see.. they won’t see.. they probably won’t even know they’re in hell until it’s too late.. but even then- if they’re blind- would they ever even know?? Do the blind have souls..?? I just don’t quite understand.. cuz I have such compassion for them… they deserve salvation.. God wouldn’t let them perish would He?
And are they all considered possessed if they don’t even realize that they are following the devil- serving the ugly beast…. is demon possession black and white? Or can someone be only a little possessed and others so possessed that they blackout when the demon inside of them uses their body to commit an evil act and don’t even remember it when they come to? And how can blind people be saved if they can’t see..?
I think I know the answer to that actually… some people see with their mind (must) and others, the only way for them to believe is to physically see it with their eyes… so only when Jesus returns to this world in physical form;- when they see Him with their physical eyes, then they will believe….
And that leads me to a question about blind faith…

Thank you for so many questions and your comment. People are not lost or blind because God allows them to be…but they refuse to repent from their sins and put their trust in Christ. God says that “Whosoever will may come” to inherit eternal life. A lifestyle of drugs, alcohol and such is clear evidence that they are not saved (please read John chapter 3). God never sends anyone to hell…people send themselves there by their rejection of the only name that can save them (Acts 4:12). The Christian can not ever be possessed by the Devil but they can be influenced and tempted to sin by him and the demons (fallen angels). Even the Devil had free will to obey God but he rebelled and chose to make his own decisions like Adam and Eve in the Garden.

Only God can save those who are possessed and presently lost and God alone can change the human heart (Prov 21:1) but we can pray for them and tell them about Jesus’ atoning work on the cross. God calls men and women to Christ (John 6:44) and draws them but we must tell them about Jesus. Blind people can’t be saved but remember Jesus opened the eyes of the blind and made them to see Him and the glorious gospel.

If you believe you are a Christian but are still into drug abuse then you need to seek immediate help and a doctor can help you. Talk to your pastor (although I get the feeling you may not have a church home). You can not overcome drug abuse anymore than a blind man can make himself see. You need God’s supernatural strength.

There are two articles below at the links provided. The bottom one is “What Happens to People that Have Not heard the Gospel” and this first link is for you or anyone else who can not overcome drugs or alcohol called “How to Overcome an Addiction”. I pray these both help you and that you can overcome this drug and put your trust in Christ today before He returns as your Judge. Much better He returns as your Savior. That is my prayer for you Hannah.

Well thank you very much for your insight and your sources and of course your prayers but I already know that I am saved. I already know I will escape His Judgment. Because I already know He forgives me. for all my sins. including my drug use. And I know that I am forgiven by Him because of my faith in Him.. and my faith in Him alone. So there is no need to pray for me in that respect. I know where I’m going when I die. And after reading this and taking it in and pondering and analyzing it I have come to this thought:
Drugs are made to devour our souls. to deplete the strength of our faith. The longer we do drugs, the more they eat at our souls, the farther from God we get… giving the devil a greater opportunity to take our souls completely.. because the lower our faith, the more likely we are to give up our faith completely- to stop believing in God and start serving the evil one. but if we have Him inside of us, the only possible way to get rid of Him is to chose to get rid of Him. To tell Him to get out of our heart. to tell Him we don’t want Him anymore. Well let me just tell you this- I know INSTINCTIVELY that no matter what happens to me, no matter how many drugs I do and no matter how low my faith may. be, I know 100% for a FACT that I will NEVER EVER NEVER stop believing in God. I May give in to temptation by doing drugs but I am forgiven. and I am not taking that for granted. I know God and He understands me. and most importantly He forgives me. Just like He forgives you for your daily sins. No sin is unforgivable.. so really no sin is greater than another… and to defend myself cuz I’m a little offended by what you said… um just cuz I am diseased with sin like everyone else… and just cuz I do drugs… does NOT mean I will suffer God’s wrath come Judgment Day. Wanna know why? Because I believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, that He is the only Son of God and that He is the onlyway to eternal life. and that alone is my protection. why would He want m to feel His wrath? I already know He exists . His wrath is to punish the sins of those who do not believe in Him.. not just for the sake of punishing them… but for the purpose of showing them that He does exist and He is the One in control.. so that they may believe in Him and repent their sins and accept the Truth and be granted eternal life like everyone else. That is God’s ultimate will for all of us isn’t it? To live.. that’s why He gave us life in the first place. Soo … I know who He is, I have accepted Him- humbly might I add- and I will always believe in Him. No matter how many drugs I do. Or how many times I say the f word for that matter, in contrast. all sin is the same. The only unforgivable sin is Blasphemy. And those who start the New World Order by first faking it and then faking Christ’s return to get the masses to follow them and steal their souls… those EVIL EVIL people… using His name to do evil… those will pay the price. I am already in hell… I don’t needn’t feel His wrath. I live in hell because I am not of this world. And that is my price to pay.. that’s is my punishment for the drugs do. I do not need to feel His wrath because I am already beige punished. I suffer everyday watching this world destroy itself… it hurts immensely… and there is nothing I can do about it. no one I can even talk o about it. I know why I do drugs. it is to escape my feelings. because I hurt so much. ifeel the pain of the world… and it’s heavy. seeing the devil’s evil plan unfold before my eyes and not beige able to stop anyone Rom drinking the koolaid .. is so painful… and that’s why I do drugs. and I choose not to quit. and I choose not to get help because no one understands me and even if they did they couldn’t take my pain away. the drugs are the only thing that can alleviate my pain until His return. I hate to say but just believing in Him and trusting that everything will be okay is not enough for me to stop the pain I feel as I watch my people suffer under the hands of Satan. I know too much about what is going on in the world- about who is in control of the government and the media and ultimately the masses.. to be able to give those feelings to God and just live my life while they suffer. It hurts too much. there is no letting go of it for me.. even though God wants me to. And I know He understands that because He is suffering to see it just like me. I know He doesn’t want me to do drugs either. But this world offers them to me and I chose to do them because they are there and they are the only way I know to take my pain away. at this point in my life I should say. I don’t know what the future holds for me. Maybe someday I will be able to find a different way to not feel like this. But my feelings are so deep I just don’t know how I could ever truly get rid of them until my people are saved and the devil is thrown to flames for eternity . where he belongs. until then I can only mask my pain and keep my faith and make sure my children know God the way I do… Honestly.. if I didn’t have drugs… I may very well have killed myself a long time ago cuz I would’ve seen that as my only escape. And who knows if I would’ve ever found Him after that. Well I’m sure I would’ve but I wouldn’t have my children.. they would not be alive and I would not get to love them. And if you wanna suggest therapy for my feelings let me just say hell no right away cuz I would never trust anybody that has any connection to our evil government to know how I feel about the world- mainly the evil conspiracy of theRe World Order. they would tell me I’m a paranoid schizophrenic, give me some government regulated drugs and my sessions would be on record and accessible to them and they would make me suffer even more cuz I know of their plan and I disagree with it. they would probably kill me with a “self induced drug overdose” like they do to celebrities who go against their agenda. lol Yup there I go sounds crazy again but it’s all good. I know what I know for a reason. and I know where I’m going when I die. and to conclude- I know I will escape His judgment regardless of the fact that I do drugs because His judgment is not for me. His judgment is for those who deny Him. and I, my friend, most certainly am not one of those people. and if it ever came to the point where they held a gun to my head and told me to take th mark of the beast I would gladly tell them to blow my brains all over their expensive clothes and ugly faces because I would rather die than deny the Lord… though I have contemplated this cuz I don’t know if I could leave my children behind in this evil world like that… so I’m gonna go continue to think about that. and pray for the lost souls.. the ones who need it… like you should do.. I do not need prayers for Salvation. I know where I stand. You should really pray for those who need it. although no prayer is ever a waste. I just wanted to really defend myself there cuz I know who I am and where I belong and I know I am safe from His judgment. Thank you for you concern though. God Bless you and I encourage you to question more things like who will suffer His Judgment etc. instead of judging yourself and deciding who and who does not deserve or need His Judgment.. cuz truth be told none of us know the answers to anything like that . we can only ask questions and try to make sense of it to ourselves and most importantly trust that feeling we have inside of u that tells us we are safe… and then pray that we all accept God someday.. and that all this evil sh** will soon come to an end and His Holiness will reign as it was intended in the Beginning. emphasis. on soon.. cuz scant take this anymore and we are all in desperate need of salvation…

I liked Hannah’s comment. That was very nice.
Maybe this will help answer some questions. I was seized by a dark presence about 9 months ago. This has never happened to me before. And I have never believed that this sort of thing would ever happen or really exist in such a real way. I was baptized a christian. I don’t want to go on and on about this… but it was frightening to say the least. I still have this problem. The most easy way to describe it is that I’m spiritually possessed or have some ‘spiritual attachment’. I don’t care to think about it or understand it, it’s scary. Although, when you’ve experienced something like this like i have- you’re not afraid of anything anymore. (Except for the damnation of your soul) . Has God given up on me? It happened the evening before going to church, it was a very stressful and difficult time for me and I was trying to be a better person… that’s the depressing part. I’m quite depressed about this. I tried praying, fasting, communion, sharing this with a priest, repenting… I read the gospel a lot now, and pray very often. I believe in God more than ever now- because I’ve also sensed His presence occasionally and it was a huge presence… I can’t explain that either. I pretty much feel like i’m possessed with a spirit and there’s nothing I can do about it… so it would be senseless to run around in a panic… I once prayed really hard to Jesus Christ… and it seemed to leave for like 10 seconds…. but it came back and is still inside… Maybe I was fasting at the time and it helped… I’m really not sure…. to be specific- i feel like my heart has an evil spirit inside-a heavy thing that’s blocking feelings of happiness and love… the day it happened was with a scary dream and me waking up feeling like i was literally being seized by an evil spirit. If things like this happen to people like me… who I thought I was a descent guy…. then it’s kind of really scary, maybe for other people too…. but fear may be exactly what caused this. I was afraid, still am, about my future- especially now. I sure wish that there was a spirit of love dwelling in my heart… it really feels like it’s in/around my heart…. I wish God would replace it. I believe in Jesus Christ, the best I can… I don’t know what else to say… I’m scared I’ve gotten to be too lazy of a christian… yea I’ve sinned a lot.. But is forgiveness off the table for me? Maybe I have no repentance in me anymore… I don’t know. I’m very confused, and all I want is to be better again. I feel like i’m praying to a wall when I pray now. Maybe I’ll try fasting again, and praying all the time… But it’s very difficult. I was considering fasting for 40 days even… I’m trying to change habits and actually stop bad ones…. what else can a person do??
I do believe now, more than ever, that there is a God and I have felt some more of His glory…. I hadn’t really experienced this before in such a big way… like an infinite out-pour of love… but I can’t draw near it, apparently… i believe in heaven more than ever now because I sensed this… Whatever it takes to go to heaven, it’s definately worth it. It seems I’m not worthy, though, and maybe I’ll never be. This is debilitating. Am I talking too much? Probably. And that’s a sin too right?

Do more people have blind faith in God or True faith? Cuz seriously….. I feel like I am the ONLY frickin person who sees this the way I do.. I have never in my life spoken to anyone who understands the way I see things except for my sister. and we inherited it from our dad but I don’t even know what he believes… He is not one to openly and proudly state that Jesus is his Savior.. so how is it that our faith in Him is so strong? Is it because we are living in the last days? Our faith is essential because we serve a great purpose in these times?
But back to blind faith- I guess I just don’t understand.. how does someone blindly believe in God? They believe in Him but they don’t understand how or why, they just do. Are they automatically saved? I envy them a little haha cuz I gotta carry the weight of the world while they get to live carefree and end up living eternally basically for free. my sister sufferage on this earth is the price I pay for eternal life. how do others get it so easily?
Is it that they will have to suffer under God’s Judgment come that day, and I will escape His Judgment? I remember reading something in the Bible about escaping His Judgment so long as you believe in Jesus. perhaps they mean truly believe, with your heart.. not just your head… not blindly.
I understand the price Jesus paid for us to live forever with Him and the Father… so therefore we must pay a price for the fact that we must(as a people) persecuted, ridiculed, made a mockery and display of Him to. the world because we didn’t accept Him when He came the first time… we murdered Him. He paid for our life by dying.. He was the ultimate Sacrifice for us all… wouldn’t it make sense then that we would have to do the same for Him? Will some of us have to be sacrificed in order for Him to return to and live with us here on earth? And would this sacrifice be of blind people.. ones who do not even realize they are following the devil- and oppositely wouldn’t/ don’t realize if they are following God? if they wouldn’t even know one way or the other- how would it matter if they were sacrificed? OR is it only the truly evil people who will forever perish? Or will some of the blind followers go down with them? That would be so tragic… but I understand why that would be.. but I pray that they are all saved… and okay this is my LAST and FINAL question and I promise I will stop… sorry for the length….
is my faith in God enough to keep my family from facing His judgment? I think I remember reading that in the Bible..? And ultimately is my faith enough to save their souls- for them to live eternally? CuZ I think I remember reading that too. and if this is true… then wouldn’t the faith of all the true believers be enough to save all the non believers/ blind people?? Cuz we are all brothers and sisters after all…we are all family…
okay I’m sorry just this one more question– HOW MANY PEOPLE TRULY BELIEVE IN GOD?? HOW MANY PEOPLE FEEL HIM IN THEIR HEART THE WAY I DO?? HOW MANY PEOPLE DEFINITIVELY KNOW RIGHT FROM WRONG AND FEEL GUILT WHEN THEY DO SOMETHING WRONG?? BUT ABOVE ALL, THE MOST IMPORTANT QUESTION THERE IS HOW MANY PEOPLE TRULY IN THEIR HEARTS BELIEVE IN GOD AND UNDERSTAND WHY AND HOW..LIKE ME? I FEEL SO ALONE..AND I FEEL LIKE EVEN THOSE WHO SAY THEY UNDERSTAND ME..REALLY DON’T…HOW DO YOU KNOW IF SOMEONE REALLY TRULY BELIEVES IN AND SEES THE TRUTH?? ANYONE CAN SAY THEY DO..ANYONE CAN EVEN BELIEVE THEY DO… BUT I KNOW I DO… I CAN’T EVEN EXPLAIN IT BUT GOD SO TO ME THROUGH REVELATIONS.. NO ONE GETS ME WHEN I SAY THAT.. PLEASE TELL SOMEONE READING THIS KNOWS WUT I’M TALKING ABOUT… WE HAVE A GIFT.. BUT IT ALSO FEELS LIKE A CURSE AT TIMES… WE DON’T KNOW WHY WE WERE BLESSED WITH THIS BUT WE ARE SO SO SO INCREDIBLY GRATEFUL AND WE CRY AT TIMES CUZ WE FEEL WE DO NOT DESERVE IT.. BUT THEN WE THINK OF HOW MUCH WE KNOW AND LOVE GOD AND WE WONDER IS THERE ANYONE ELSE OUR THERE WHO KNOWS AND LOVES GOD AS MUCH AS ME? AND WE THINKBTHERE COULDN’T POSSIBLY BE ANYONE WHO FEELS THIS WAY.. BUT THEN WE THINK THERE MUST BE..THERE HAS TO BE.. WE ARE JUST SO.. RARE TO FIND… AND THEN WE WANNA KNOW OKAY SO WHAT EXACTLY IS OUR PURPOSE? WE KNOW WHO WE SERVE BUT IN WHAT WAYS DO WE SERVE HIM? ASIDE FROM LOVING OTHERS AND DOING GOOD THINGS- IF WE HAVE SUCH AN INCREDIBLE GIFT- WOULDN’T OUR PURPOSE BE SO MUCH DEEPER THAN THAT?? But I am not a preacher.. I’ve never been good at speaking in front people.. and especially nowadays.. It’s practically crime to talk about Jesus.. and I don’t wanna seem like I’m trying to convert anyone or force them to believe anything.. it’s just such a sensitive topic these days… So is my purpose to try to get people to believe in God by reading the Gospel to them? I just don’t feel it is cuz I feel no point in trying to get anyone to believe…. if you see, you see, no one can show you… you finds it on your own right? But if that is not my purpose… then what is?? There would be no deeper purpose to life than that…. I find myself warning people of the evil in the media and everywhere and the brainwashing and mind control of our children, the Illuminati, and the New World Order.. I find myself warning people about this more often than speaking to them about God. because I feel.. at the mental capacity of most people these days (what with the dumbing down.. and I don’t say that to sound superior or anything.. it saddens me that people are like this… the mass sea of people… most of them are.brainwashed… it is a fact. I see it with my eyes) anyways… at their mental capacity these days I feel like warning them of the evil in this world would be more effective than proclaiming to them the greatness of the Lord… because living life on the darkside … drugs … Injustices… evil…. doing evil things yes… I know what I am capable of… Seeing evil things be done to others, having them be done to me, doing them to myself… and don’t et me wrong I forgive all who have done me wrong and do not believe any of them were truly evil but I do wonder if they feel guilt or repentance… anyways… Evil is what brought me to see God.. I haven’t had this gift my whole life… I received it trough my experiences and obviously from God.. but I do sometimes feel I have had it my whole lie.. I have always felt like I don’t belong.. and I disagreed with so much stuff that everyone else thought was cool or funny simply for the fact that it gave me an uncomfortable feeling… Which emphasizes my belief that I was sent here for a reason…. but back to the topic.. what is that reason? And is showing them the evil instead of good in hopes that it will help them to find God… is this the right thing to do? Do? Certainly it can’t harm them to be informed and most of them with just be amused by my “craziness” .. But should I be trying it the other way? Cuz I know that talking about God to people… pushes them away.. most people.. makes them not believe.in Him even more… or makes them hate those who believe and try to preach… or i

Or is it more for he fact that. I am scared what they will think of me..? That they will ridicule me or make me feel stupid or less than them… or make me feel I’m crazy cuz I believe on something that I can’t physically see.. something thatcher have been corrupted into not believing in and actually going against- knowingly or unknowingly.. mostly subconsciously (unknowingly) . They have been molded by society and the media (which control society. which is controlled by the Illuminati. which is controlled by the devil) that God is a simple myth and that doing things which go against Him (sinning) is cool. look at the future of the people.. our children.. they are the targets.. and they hold the power..of which way we as a people walk.. Anyways- how do you teach a blind man to see? I find it to be in vain to even try.. because it isn’t possible… so I try to tell them what’s going on.. about the evil in the world.. how the masses are controlled by the media and ultimately the devil.. and I always throw something about God in in conclusion.. that faith in Him is our only Salvation… it’s easier to see the evil I think cuz it’s everywhere.. so I try to tell them.. but I always wonder if I’ve made a difference.. so I guess either way.. no matter which side I try to show them… I feel it doesn’t matter cuz they either see it or they don’t.. and the ones who see it.. they will see it based on what they were born with.. and it will take their own experiences to have that part of them awakened… and the ones who don’t.. the only way they will ever see it is when He returns.. when He is standing in front of them… so I constantly ask myself what is the point.. and then what is my true purpose if my influence doesn’t impact anyone’s beliefs… so then I think my purpose must be deeper… we must truly be living in the end days.. and He will return in my lifetime.. and maybe my purpose will come to me then.. maybe I will have a part in the deliverance of souls.. maybe I will defend us in the battle of Armegeddon.. but until that point.. what is my purpose.. aside from raising my children right.. in the ways of the Lord. What else is my purpose right now if what I say doesn’t make a difference..? I can’t think of the answer. maybe someone could help me out here… but I think we all know the answer…
I will never be certain of my purpose until God reveals it to me… but in the meantime, all I can do is keep trying to show them… because I love them and I don’t want them to suffer His Judgment… and to know that whether or not I made a difference to any of them… (and I very well could have just like I May not have)…. At least I tried… and I tried even if I felt it was pointless.. because part of me still has faith in them… but ultimately because I care about them and want them to know the Truth so they can be saved before it’s too late.. and not for any gain to myself… all for the Glory of God, Heavenly Father, Creator and true Love.. the only Way.. the only Truth.. and the only Life… The brightest light in the darkest dark.. the One who gave us life and saved us by sacrificing Himself.. His own life… so that we could live forever in peace and happiness… and true Holy Love.. forever and ever. I do it for them but mostly I do it for Him. Cuz without Him I would be nothing. and if I was nothing…??? What would I be?? Lord God I don’t know why You gave me life.. and I certainly don’t know how I deserve to live forever next to You in Your Holiness for I am so unclean.. so impure… so.. tainted with sin…. But I know that the only answer to that is Your Holy Name. You are the reason I am here and Your sacrifice and forgiveness is the reason I will never perish. Why I have been granted with such a wonderful gift.. life itself… I May not ever know- why ME?.. and I think of what it would be like to not exist at all… and I thank You for such a beautiful gift and I proclaim that in return for not only giving me life here on earth through your Love but life in eternity with Your Holiness, through your sacrifice.. I will always defend Your Name. if I am to be persecuted for it, I am willing. if I am to be killed for it, I am willing. I am willing todo anything to defend You Oh Lord because know the Truth.. and I CHOOSE the Truth.. Because You chose to give me life.. and ultimately sacrificed Your own life so that I could live forever… Why I deserve this I do not know but I know that I am grateful for your Mercy. And for all You have done for me… defending Your Holy Name till my death.. well that’s really the least I can do… but that is my promise to You God and You know I don’t make promises I can’t keep. in Your Holy Name I thank You and I pray. Amen.
And God Bless all who took the time to take a step inside my mind.

Thank you Hannah for such an inspiring comment, including the one you made before. I know what our purpose is. To glorify God and to share the gospel with the lost. You may already be doing that by raising your children in the right way (the way of the Lord).

I sense a great passion to reach the lost and only 1 in 10 Christians are actively sharing the gospel so there you go…in my humble opinion. We need to be glorifying Christ, which you have most certainly done in your posts, and to share the gospel as Jesus commanded us to do 5 times in the Great Commission. See? You ALREADY are doing the will of God and fulfilling His purpose for your life? Can you see it? That is what I sense in your words and by your great passion to reach the blind so that they might see. I am inspired by you Hannah. You are much like Hannah in 1 Samuel!

Hannah, I do believe that in order to glorify God more, you have to portray the fruit of the Spirit and one of them is self-control. Thereby your addiction is not glorifying our God, because this signifies lack of self-control.

On the topic of demons; Are demons ghosts? Also can people see demons or do they ever “allow” themselves to be seen? If there are spirits and demons in the world, is it possible that people mistake them for ghosts? I have traveled a bit and I have felt weird “vibes” in random places that did not look too good. Can people sense evil or the presence of demons/spirits. Not sure if there is a topic like this somewhere.

Thank you Allen for your comment/question. I believe you are spot on sir about the belief or seeing ghosts and that these are indeed demons. I think you are right. There actually is a topic about this very subject. I urge you sir to read this article called What do Christians Believe About Ghosts and I think you’ll see that you are exactly right about what you said sir. Thank you so much.

To Hannah:

I am very happy to hear that you have faith in our Lord Jesus Christ.
“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” Ephesians 2:8, 9 KJV

However, with faith, as the word of God tells us in James 1:22-25 KJV:
“But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was. But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.”

What this passage means is, it is not enough to receive the implanted word; we must obey it. There is no virtue in possessing the Bible or even in reading it as literature. There must be a deep desire to hear God speaking to us and an unquestioning willingness to do whatever He says. We must translate the Bible into action. The word must become flesh in our lives. There should never be a time when we go to the Scriptures without allowing them to change our lives for the better.

To profess great love for God’s word or even to pose a Bible student is a form of self-deception unless our increasing knowledge of the word is producing increasing likeness to the Lord Jesus. To go on gaining an intellectual knowledge of the Bible without obeying it can be a trap instead of a blessing. If we continually learn what we ought to do, but do not do it, we become depressed, frustrated, and callous. “Impression without expression leads to depression.” Also we become more responsible to God.

The ideal combination is to read the word and obey it implicitly.

These are the sayings of our Father in heaven.

Continuing the meaning of the passage for Hannah:

Anyone who hears the word but does not change his behavior is like a man who takes a fleeting glance in the mirror each morning, then completely forgets what he saw. He derives no benefit from the mirror or from looking into it. Of course, there are some things about our appearance that cannot be changed. But at least we should be humbled by the sight! And when the mirror says “Wash” or “Shave” or “Comb” or “Brush,” we should at least do as we are told. Otherwise the mirror is of no practical benefit to us.

In contrast is the man who looks into the word of God and who habitually reduces it to practice. His contemplative, meditative gazing has practical results in his life. To him the Bible is the perfect law of liberty. It’s precepts are not burdensome. They tell him to do exactly what his new nature loves to do. As he obeys, he finds true freedom from human traditions and carnal reasonings. The truth makes him free. This is the man who benefits from the Bible. He does not forget what he has read. Rather he seeks to live it out in daily practice. His simple childlike obedience brings incalculable blessing to his soul. This one will be blessed in what he does.

I find this article to be incorrect. I am sorry, but it may seem sound theology and scriptural but it is wrong. Christians can be demon possessed when they sin. The bible states that “He that committeth sin is of the devil” Therefore each time we sin, (given that the father gives permission) The Devil has legal right to enter into that person’s life. I know I’am going against your teaching, but God must be faithful to his word therefore he must let the Devil have us when we sin unless we specifically repent for the sin/s. I speak this not out of theory but out of experience. I am a born again believer and have truly repented many times and pray for hours and read the bible for hours and yet if I but simply let a lustful or hateful thought enter my mind I give permission to devils to enter in me. then after fasting and prayer I am in Jesus name through the Holy Ghost able to cast them out. Please fix the article. There is a good book about demons by Howard O. Pittman, in it he explains what the Lord showed him during his near death experience. Please be advised that Pride is the hardest enemy to see. It was pride that brought my father’s ministry to the dust. Please research on the subject, try to take a look at the book and take into consideration that I cannot lie lest I enter into sin and be condemned. I would not stake my salvation in order to deceive you. The bible orders us to work out our salvation with fear and trembling and that I do. God Bless you

Thank you sir for your comment. You said that this article is not scripturally sound then you recommend “a good book about demons by Howard O. Pittman, in it he explains what the Lord showed him during his near death experience.” This is extra-biblical and therefore is not God-breathed. Experiential testimony outside of the Bible can not be accepted as truth and so I am sorry that I can not agree to this. You quoted “that “He that committeth sin is of the devil” That comes from 1 John chapter 3 but one verse is not enough. We must look at what John was writing in the context of the entire chapter which says in 1 John 3:4-10 “Everyone who sins breaks the law; in fact, sin is lawlessness. 5But you know that he appeared so that he might take away our sins. And in him is no sin. 6No one who lives in him keeps on sinning. No one who continues to sin has either seen him or known him.

7Dear children, do not let anyone lead you astray. The one who does what is right is righteous, just as he is righteous. 8The one who does what is sinful is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil’s work. 9No one who is born of God will continue to sin, because God’s seed remains in them; they cannot go on sinning, because they have been born of God. 10This is how we know who the children of God are and who the children of the devil are: Anyone who does not do what is right is not God’s child, nor is anyone who does not love their brother and sister.”

So you see that a person that goes on sinning, is not a Christian and is a child of the Devil and not of God. We all sin (1 John 3:8, 10) but after we sin, we confess (1 John 3:8). I urge you to also divest yourself from pride and read all of 1 John chapter 4 which verse 4 says, “You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.” If you believe a Christian can be demon possessed, please show me chapter and verse to validate your claim. A claim by anyone, even by Howard O. Pittman, is extra-biblical and we must believe what the Bible says over what man claims to have had in an experience. God can not lie. Not so with men.

Hello iHelp. Please, right now fall on your knees and repent of all of your sins, confess them to God, put your trust in Jesus and ask for His divine power to reject this evil spirit from your body. No true believe can ever be demon possessed. That is a biblical fact. Also, call your pastor immediately. Do you have a pastor? Do you attend a Bible-believing church? If not, find one now. Ask them to pray over you to receive the Holy Spirit and you will be saved. I can only pray for you but you must fall on your face before God and ask Him to intervene and put your trust in Christ. Don’t wait another minute. If you don’t have a church home, then you are at risk to the Enemy the Devil and his fallen angels, demons.

No Christian should go it alone in their life without the Body of Christ, the church, for Jesus is the Head of the church, the Chief Cornerstone and the Great Shepherd of the sheep. If you are outside of the flock, beware for the Devil is like a roaring lion roaming around seeking whom he might devour. You must seek help from other Christians, otherwise you are on your own and that is a fearful thing.

Jack Wellman March 28, 2013 at 8:37 pm

iHelp, “Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus”(Rom 8:1). Notice that Paul didn’t say “unless you sin again.” No, Jesus said in John 11:26 “whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?” and”John 6:47 “Very truly I tell you, the one who believes has eternal life.” and John 6:58 “This is the bread that came down from heaven. Your ancestors ate manna and died, but whoever feeds on this bread will live forever.”

Jesus NEVER qualifies His word that “except if you sin again. “Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life.” (John 5:24).

Knowing this, I will pray for you since this is not likely to give you relief my friend. I am sorry for that and wish I could say more to help. There is power in the Word of God. I have no such power.

Greetings to you Moses in the name of our Lord Jesus. I just want to let you know that no matter what you have done, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ who ever remains faithful even in the midst of our unfaithfulness. We live by grace, not by law less we make the death of Jesus of none effect. The WORD is power to those who believe. The moment you believe you receive cause without faith it is impossible to please God! Moses step boldly to the throne of grace and obtain mercy and grace to help yourself in your time of need. Bring evey thought and inner feeling of guilt to the obedience of Christ. The battle we fight is a battle with our senses (what we hear, feel, see, touch etc) our faith should not be based on this’ but on the WORD of God. I implore you now to pray simple prayer of faith to God in the name of Jesus and obtain mercy. That’s why Jesus came. I used to feel guilty about my pass life after I repented! I then had to build my faith on what God says I am’ not what I feel or people say. Our walk with God is a walk of faith. You are what God says you are…God bless you! you can always get me on facebook (leefrad(at)yahooDOTca

Divine Arrangement.
Do you know that God wants to be
involved in everything you do and
He wants to walk you through
whatever life brings? Take the case
of Peter the fisherman. It was not
by mere chance that Jesus chose
Peter’s boat at the seaside. It was
by providential arrangement. I
mean as it should be by divine will.
Remember there were many boats
there, but He got into one –
Peter’s. Jesus ministry of
intercession is little appreciated by
believers. In every temptation,
trial and hard place, Jesus ever
lives to pray for us, that is the
reason for our victory.
After Peter’s encounter with
Jesus, he was given a greater task
which was to fish for men.
Therefore, man does not only need
a mediator, but after becoming a
child of God /a Christian, he needs
God more than ever before because
he lives in a world dominated by
satan.

RECOGNISE THE HAND OF GOD
Every man has two natures in one
person – human and divine. If you
are of God, you will have the divine
nature of God; if you are of satan,
you will have the divine nature of
satan. As for your human nature,
you are a descendent of your
biological father. As for your
divine nature, it depends on who
you live for.
So, the hands and the head will
continue to do the work of whom
you live for, the mouth will
continue to speak the word of who
you live for, your eyes will
continue to see who you live for,
your legs will lead you to where
your master is. In order to live for
Christ and be a partaker of the
divine nature of God, make God’s
Word the standard for your life so
you will be able to recognise the
hand of God in your life and live,
move and have your being in Him
(Acts 17:28).

THE GIFT OF FORGIVENESS
Jesus Christ has no sin of His own.
He died to wash away the guilt and
punishment of your sins. What a
future now lies before you!
Knowing we are forgiven, you have
no question about the past.
Knowing we are going to Heaven,
you have no question about the
future. The present only is yours.
So live now, act now, live now,
give now. This is the gift of His
forgiveness.

This is what I knew would happen and Im afraid its gonna get worse. Soon enough I believe I will turn my back on Him, and I Dont Want That Happening! “Faith Works by Love” so what Im just noticing I think I dont Love God, I only Fear Him, and in Matter of Fact I think I dont Love anybody. To Tell You I had a girlfriend once and the Love I had for Her……I HATED It.

iHelp. I am sorry I haven’t had a chance to reply sooner my friend. Please forgive me for responding so late. I work almost every day, and I write too for a few websites and also pastor a church. I do say I am sorry. My concern is that once the Holy Spirit comes to us to dwell within us, it is there to stay and can not come and go. We can grieve the Holy Spirit by sinning but we are sealed by Him. In Ephesians 1: “even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. In love he predestined us for adoption as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will…”(v 13) “And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit.”

then in Eph 2 “But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, 5 even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved—6 and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus.” We are ALREADY seated with Him.

You see in Ephesians 4:30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.” We can grieve the Spirit but we are sealed by the Holy Spirit for the day of redemption. So God has no aborted children and a person is born again but never born again, again (John 3).

If you don’t love God you may not be saved. For if we love God we are the children of God. That may be the issue here iHelp. What do you say?

I believe in Him, I believe in Jesus. I dont get it why is this happening? Why do things happen like how they happen? I try so hard to be Happy but it is Always ruined ALWAYS! I HATE THAT! Why is it allowed to HAPPEN! Then I get Crazy like how I am right now. Im confused Im not really sure if I Love God, and by not evening knowing it must mean I “Dont” Love God. It doesnt make sense though How Can My Love for God Just Leave Me? You see He knew that would happen, I was Or am His? Once Im His, Im His, Is This His Plan?

My friend…nothing happens that is not known by God but He never plans what you yourself decide upon. That is our feelings are our choice. Jesus didn’t feel like dying for us and even though that WAS in the Father’s hands and will, or plan, Jesus made a choice. Sometimes we must choose to do things and make a choice to love God and not depend upon our feelings. Worship Him when you don’t feel like it, sing praises to Him when you don’t feel like it, thank Him for life and His many blessings even when you don’t feel like it. Love is a choice..love is a verb, its what you do…not so much what you feel. Does this make sense friend? I urge you to talk with your pastor immediately. Please don’t talk to a Christian friend only…you can with him but your pastor is better equipped in a face to face meeting. He can pray with you and over you.

Also, you know you may be going thru spiritual attacks or spiritual warfare. If so, please read this to make sure:

Moses Satan is the accuser of the brethren. Like I said, what you feel doesn’t matter. For you to even feel kinda guilty, that’s the Holy Spirit speaking to you. Discover your real self (inner-man) by studying God’s word and bring every imagination and thought (inner strongholds) to the obedience of Christ! Fear is the opposite of faith! Strengthen your inner-man with the WORD. Remember Moses, you are who and what God says you are…you are not possessed, don’t let our imaginations run wild by what you feel, see, read or hear (as a matter of fact ignore them and fix ur mind on what God’s word says about you, its what I always do and its been working for me), you are deliver through Christ. We all make mistakes? No one is perfect, not even one. When you make mistake,? don’t run from God, run to Him. When we sin, fellowship is broken, yet we don’t lose our position as a son. All you need to do is believe (faith)! Tame or heart and mind with the word of God, keep saying it, don’t stop taling it! Ask Him for grace to act, live and do the WORD…:)

phawhek, I can not really answer that question for you since I am not able to hear these lecturers. The best teacher of all is the Holy Spirit and He opens our minds up to understand Scripture. Why do you think this lecturer is not as good as the other? None of us have perfect understanding and so I would go to the group that you feel most well fed by the Word of God. Make sure the lecturer you do learn from is teaching right from the Bible and not from his own understanding.

Hello Renee. How old is this child? I can not really answer where the Bible is silent. Truly no human is born innocent. I am not saying that they are responsible but the Bible is clear that we are all born into a sinful state.

I can not answer whether God should protect them or not and again, not one of us ever born is innocent but if a child is possessed, it is possible that there parents may have been dabbling in some areas that they should not be doing so. Some participate in seances, Ouji board games, watching evil or horror movies….I just don’t know the answer because if the Bible doesn’t say, then I can not. I am sorry about that.

Hi Jack, i was brought here after reading your article titled, “Yeshua the box burster”. i have a friend whose being afflicted by demons. He seems to have lost his mind, continually fights things and thinks that there are people following him. He went to a church where i really think his situation was aggreviated because they cast out demons from him. when he got home, he was on his own now, no pastor to cast those demons out, and he too did not have the weapons to fight..the weapon which is the word of God. I got a friend to go and minister the word to him and then we had him re dedicate his life to Christ.

We assured him that as the word says, he has been set free because he has made Christ his dwelling and that if anyone is in Christ he is a new creation, he was responding well to the gospel until he wanted us to cast demons out..we told him that he has been set free and that if the son of man sets you free, then you are free indeed. I really cant emphasise the importance of holding on to God’s truth enough when faced with demonic oppression. A person under demonic oppression only needs the word to reclaim his position in Christ.

God says my people are perishing because of lack of knowledge, they have believed a lie that’s why they are under oppression. but he also says, they shall know the truth and the truth shall set them free! the truth that is the word of God
Thanks a lot for your article.

Well stated God’s Lady. Your words were precise and exactly spot on. You said believers can be under oppression but not in possession. You could not have said it better…you show the difference yourself. If someone believes they are under possession and claim to be a believer, then they either don’t understand what oppression is….or they have not truly be born again. You have great discernment my friend.

So I was saved on Jan 3 2011. It started all like a normal me day. I was very depress and lonely. I did not believe in God but my mom does. She always preach to me but I never accept it. I had no idea what it was but my head was throbbing in pain and i was foaming in my mouth. I told my mom what happen and she said that it was demon. For some reason i finally believe it and ran to the bed crying asking for Jesus to help and heal. I ask for forgiveness and repented. I felt this peace in my head and heard screaming. 5 mins later they came back even do i was just born-again and repented. They haven’t left since. I pray and fast and have answered prayer from God. Yet I still have demons in me. I put away all the bad stuff i was doing and still. They only get weaker but i still might foam in the month or feel them in my skin or shake me.

I would talk to your pastor right away. Have you spoken with your pastor? What did he say? You can submit a prayer request to your church as an “unspoken needs.” Bath this in prayer….and fasting too. No Christian can be demon possessed but we can be oppressed. Perhaps this is happening to you. Talk to your pastor.

Ephesian 4:Give no place to the devil. Means that if a christian gives place to the devil the old slew would occupy. Wasn’t Judas a christian at the last supper when after eating the bread satan entered him? If a christian breaks the hedge the serpent will bite.

The word “place” means an opportunity but it does not mean possession. Was Judas a Christian? There is zero evidence for this.
Even though Jesus knew that Judas planned to betray him, He gave Judas several chances to admit his deceit. Read John chapter 13 for a touching picture of Jesus’ love for all of His disciples. As Jesus and His disciples prepared to share the last Passover meal together, Jesus shocked and humbled them by taking the part of the lowest servant and washing their feet. Judas was there. Jesus washed his feet also. While He did this Jesus taught them about spiritual cleansing and serving each other. Jesus said, “And you are clean, though not every one of you.” As they were at the table, Jesus said, “I am not referring to all of you… He who shares my bread has lifted up his heel against me. (Lifted up his heel, in Hebrew referred to brutal violence.) Later He said, “one of you is going to betray me.” (emphasis added)In the Hebrew culture, at the Passover meal, the father of the family gave honored guests pieces of bread dipped in wine. This was Jesus’ final appeal to Judas as He handed him the bread. At that time, Judas allowed Satan to take full control of his heart and he went out into the night.

After Jesus had been condemned to death, Judas became filled with remorse. He went back to the chief priests and elders and tried to return the money they had given him. He confessed that he had betrayed an innocent man and when he left them he committed suicide. (Matthew 27:3-5)

Judas was truly sorry for what he had done. He even confessed it, but he never asked the Savior for forgiveness. We know that Jesus would have forgiven him and Judas would have entered into eternal life. Instead, it is likely that he is in hell, shut away from the love of God for eternity.

As we read about Judas Iscariot, Jesus is teaching us still. Know that even if you have committed the worst of crimes, it is not too late. You can confess your sin, repent and ask Jesus for His forgiveness. He is faithful to forgive. Even though Jesus knew Judas’ heart and knew that he would betray Him, He kept giving him the chance to repent. Do you know someone with the hardest of hearts? Keep on loving them. Keep giving them the chance to know Jesus and His forgiveness.

Thanks Jack, those words are so comforting. I came hear because, I as a Christian believe that Christians cannot be possessed by demons. However, I have heard a story where someone woke up in the night and could feel a demon, and they could not move, but they told the demon to leave because of the power of God, and the demon left. I was wondering if a demon could harm a Christian in this situation, or what happens if you can’t tell the demon to leave? I was also wondering if demons just chose to possess people in this modern day era, or the person really asks for it, like in the way you stated above in does demon possession still happen today?

Thank you for the encouragement Shelly. Yes, I heard Chip Ingram on Living on the Edge Ministries talk about something just like that once but no, Christians have no fear from demons or Satan. Remember when God gave Satan permission to take away Job’s possessions God warned him ” “Behold, all that he has is in your power, only do not put forth your hand on him.” Job 1:12 but that was Job and it was written down for us to see how God is sovereign. God may allow Satan to harass us but never really harm us as we have victory assured in Christ (Rom 8:31-39). Yes, I surely believe people today are being possessed just as in Jesus’ day. Nothing has changed in this world to make that any different today than it was then. They can ask for it but I also know that drugs are like opening a door for wicked spirits and so are play games like Ouji, reading tarot cards, horoscopes, etc.

Sir your assertions are wrong.A pastor can be possessed by demons.How.The word possessions does not mean ownership. It means influence and control.Demon possessed people go to work and interact with people.Except in cases when they are influenced to exhibit the character of the deMon.When a bishop opens a door by uncleanness….His mind, emotions, will can be influenced.Jess said healing and deliverance is the children’s bread.80% of people in the bible who were delivered were those who believed in jesus…Christians may have contacted demons before coming to Christmas.and can still be influenced if the enudge in sin.Only the whole truth can set believers free.God bless you sir

Hi, Mr. Jack! I appreciated this article so much! I noticed on the paragraph of Has Demon Possession Happened in the Past? on line 7. Mark 15:20 should be replaced to Mark 5:15-20. 🙂

Hello everyone. I wanted to apologize for my last comment… it was a long comment and I was flustered. I think I’m oppressed- by evil spirits. Truly sucks. However, I would like to share some things that seem to be helping me- spiritually, and that’s the most important thing.

Some advice for people on here who are also oppressed or under attack. These have helped me:
– Buy the Gospel according to st. Matthew. In my opinion, this one is very helpful… The Explanation by Blessed Theophylact of the Holy Gospel According to St. Matthew. Can be found on Amazon, but I found another site… In my opinion- avoid dwelling too much on any part of the bible (genesis, leviticus, etc…) or what others say, and keep this Holy Gospel of Christ as your primary source of spiritual reading… or only reading. There’s a lot to read, and a lot of things people say… the most important words are (in my opinion): God, and Love.
– Note that Jesus’s commandments against sin can be summed up into 5 things: 1) Don’t be angry without good cause/don’t commit murder 2) Honor your mother and father 3) Don’t lust/ and don’t commit adultery 4) Don’t lie 5) Don’t steal. If you follow these 5 commandments, you show Jesus that you love him. “If ye love me, keep my commandments.”
– Read and re-read the Beatitudes… take Humility (spiritual poverty), meekness, mourning (for sins), purity in heart, give mercy, make peace, thirsting for righteousness, being persecuted for righteousness sake, and enduring for Christ’s sake.
– Recall the greatest commandment: Love God with all your heart/mind/soul/strength and love your neighbor as yourself. It’s a 3 part thing… are you loving yourself? do you give yourself what you need? rest, work, prayer? do you love your neighbor? do you give to others- do you share? are you attempting to help and give and love others?… and do you love God- by keeping the commandments of Christ?
– Pray the Lord’s Prayer every morning and every night. And understand that this prayer is full of meaning… from avoiding temptation/being led away from it, and forgiving others and doing God’s will on earth- which Jesus said must be done if a man should go to heaven.
– In times of difficulty or at any point during the day, pray the Jesus prayer… “Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner.”
– Go to church.

May God bless you all. And thanks for giving me a place to come to for help.
-Pish

Thank you my precious friend in Christ, Pish. I read your previous message and it is understandable. I am so sorry for all you are going through sir. I know that spiritual attacks are ramping up from the enemy, perhaps knowing that he has only a short time before Christ comes. I thought of you and prayed for you Pish. I know that whoever repents and believes will be saved. The Gospel of John may help us all to give us the reassurance that God will never forsake us or leave us (John 10 is awesome) and so may God richly bless you my friend.

Is it possible for a true Christian to be possessed by a demon? Or, better yet, can a backsliding Christian still be saved Chrisitan? If a Christian falls into a sinful thing, does that mean…1) They were led to sin because they let worldly things influence them and as a result, they have backslided (?), 2) They are a true Christian demonstrating their own sinful nature AND it is not because of demonic influence (?). Can a true Christian sin? If a Christian sins (however small the sin is, whether just a bed thought, or a mental/chemical/emotional disorder, does this mean that individual is NOT a Christian. I have a few people in mind when I ask these questions. I have had an experience recently where I became under the influence of the world, I listened to worldly music, accepted some of their values. I used my words carelessly, actually I cussed sometimes. I get angry and anxious when I get into crowds of people too (had this problem before AND after I became a Christian, though I had a better time with it after becoming a Christian). I rejected using prescription medications for my anxiety disorders.

Can a person with an cursed sent from others threw witchcraft still be able to go to heaven even though it’s in there heart to be saved?

No one but God can curse or bless. Humans have no supernatural power so whoever says this is a liar. No one can keep anyone out of heaven by a curse. Talk to your pastor. Have you talked to him? What did he say?

Yes, Mr. Francesco. I have been around demon possessed men in prison and I have never seen a believer possessed yet. Thank you.

I know that I was saved without a doubt in 1982 and was filled with the Holy Spirit. Their have been several times over the last 37 years that I have turned my back on God because of deep hurts and the church. I have had 3 major breakdowns from hearing voices inside my mind and outside my brain. I am currently writing a book on this very issue. Because I had had demons(extensive deliverance) cast out of me in 1984. After my second breakdown I went to the mental health center in my town and got on medicine with extensive therapy. Some people say that medicine is just a band-aid that they demons are still there? I have turned my life over to Jesus 100 percent and know he has called me into the ministry. I am on medicine. I believe that if you turn away from God and the church that demons can torment and oppress you…
