20 Inspirational Bible Verses About God’s Love

by Josh Wiley · Print Print · Email Email

Bible verses that describe God’s love for us are some of my favorites. I hope you enjoy this list of inspirational quotes showing just how much God loves you.

Featured Bible Verse About God’s Love: Romans 8:37-39 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

God’s Love Shown Through Jesus Christ

John 3:16  “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

Romans 5:8 but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Galatians 2:20 I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God. who loved me and gave himself for me.

Ephesians 2:4-5 But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, evenwhen we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ— by grace you have been saved—

1 John 4:9-11 In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him. In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.

God Loves and Cares For Us

Zephaniah 3:17 The LORD your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing.

1 John 4:7-8  Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God.  Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love.

1 Peter 5:6-7  Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you,  casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.

Job 34:19 who shows no partiality to princes, nor regards the rich more than the poor,  for they are all the work of his hands?

Psalm 86:15 But you, O Lord, are a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness.

1 John 3:1 See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are. The reason why the world does not know us is that it did not know him.

What God Says About Love

Deuteronomy 7:9 Know therefore that the LORD your God is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments, to a thousand generations,

Proverbs 8:17 I love those who love me, and those who seek me diligently find me.

Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.

John 13:34-35  A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another.  By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

Respond To God’s Love Through Thankfulness

Psalm 136:26 Give thanks to the God of heaven, for his steadfast love endures forever.

Romans 5:2-5 Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God. More than that, we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.

Colossians 2:6-7  Therefore as you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, having been firmly rooted and now being built up in Him and established in your faith, just as you were instructed, and overflowing with gratitude.

Hebrews 12:28-29 Therefore, since we receive a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us show gratitude, by which we may offer to God an acceptable service with reverence and awe; for our God is a consuming fire.

Amazing!!!! the love of God is unconditional unlike how we humans love. we love and expect something in return, a boy loves a girl and expects sex in return. a girl loves a boy and expects the whole world. you cant comprehend how God loves, even in our SINFUL nature He still loves us. and in addition to that love He gives promises and gifts. after he soo loved us He sent His only begotten son Jesus to die for our sins and even promised that whosoever that believes in His son will have everlasting love. what more can i ask for!!

Winter June 25, 2015 at 5:55 am

Isn’t it sexist for you to think when a boy loves he wants sex? When a person is truly in love, boy or girl, they are contented. Even women ask for sex honestly, by the immodesty of their clothing an etc. both genders both do the same things.

Timeka February 6, 2016 at 2:06 pm

I think you’re missing Immauel’s point. He’s saying that people want things in return for their love. Although God does want reciprocation, He doesn’t demand it and still gives it freely. It’s stupid to highlight and focus on that small comment amid all the the others he made. The man was excited about God’s love. Give me a break…

I was praying the other day when God helped me to understand something. That his grace, mercy, spiritual gifts, the worldly needs he provides us with, and even our salvation along with so much more, all come from his love. It is the greatest, most import thing in the history of the universe, for all good things have rooted from Gods love. The bible says “we love because he first loved us” (John 4:19), so it is his love that made us able to love and loving others, and telling of his greatest act of love (the gospel of Jesus Christ) is the best way that we can represent him as Christian people.

God’s Love Is The Greatest Of All With Love He Gave Us Life

Lynn February 3, 2016 at 6:28 pm

God’s love creates Trust, it helps us understand that if He did all that He did for our sakes, as sinners, there is no way, He will ever fail us. It makes us live with no fear cause His Love creates security in our lives. It conquers everything.

Timeka February 6, 2016 at 2:11 pm

Deut 31:6 has always been inspiring to me! Especially the after I found out forsake not only meant to leave, but also to give up on. So the scripture is saying that not only would He never leave me (in crisis/ when I need Him most), but also that He would never give up on me. That really ministers to me.
Thank you for the scriptures and quotes! They’re awesome.

Jill April 21, 2016 at 9:26 am

Thank you for your encouraging post. I have been a believer since I was 5, I’m now 57 and want to go deeper into God’s love. I want to know it in my head and in my heart. I am asking the Holy Spirit to help me to experience it anew and to allow me to be a conduit to others. It’s never too late. His love never fails….

I appreciate this article very much, since it draws together a number of bible verses that are applicable to a topic and makes it easy to find. I must object, however, to the inclusion of Proverbs 8:17. This verse seems to be taken out of context and is really referring to Wisdom as loving those who love her. God loves everyone whether they love him back or not. I think this verse should be replaced by one of the many other wonderful ones that you could choose from. Thanks!

If he asks for sex and she wants it. It can be considered either one of the two things selfish, or perhaps something greater. Sex is all about intimacy, seeking to please your mate rather than yourself. But if it’s selfish sex it’s seeking to please you. You can decide for yourself what you think he’s trying to do. And if he wants to bring YOU in a place of intimacy and your married it’s a good thing

Timeka: Your use of the word “Stupid” is troubling to me and I’m concerned for you. Jesus said “Anyone who says, ‘You fool!’ will be in danger of the fire of hell” (Matthew 5:22). Besides that, I think Winter was trying to say that both Genders are capable of the same thing – rather than – both Genders do the same thing. If that’s what they meant, then they were right and and you had no basis to be angry with them. God bless you.

Immanuel: Only one person is deserving of the name Immanuel – and that is Jesus. Immanuel means “God with us.” Jesus has that name because he is God in the flesh. Also, I think it’s fair to point out to you that yes, God loves all mankind, and is patient with us. He is loving and merciful, kind and generous. He feeds and clothes the wicked and that is why he tells his disciples to love their enemies – because he loves his enemies. However, God’s patience will not last forever. He has set a date – called Judgement Day – when he will judge all mankind. The enemies of God/Jesus, including those who rejected him will be cast into the Lake of Fire. In addition, those who professed faith in him, but refused to obey him, will also be judged. Following Jesus is not about soaking in God’s love – and at the same time, storing up treasures on earth, lusting, hating, and committing other sin. Following Jesus requires that we obey the commands of Jesus (there are more than 150 of them).

In Christian Culture today – there are many preachers who proclaim that God’s love is infinite and not contingent upon anything. While it is true God loves all people – it is not true that his patience will last forever. Jesus said “stop sinning or something worse will happen to you”, “Go and sin no more”, “You are my friends if you do what I command”, “Why do you call me ‘Lord, Lord’ but you don’t do what I say?” and “Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers! (Matthew 7:23).'”

Simply put: Imagine a woman marries a man. They love each other immensely, but one of them becomes deceived and thinks they can have extra marital affairs. That spouse sleeps around and after 10 years, they finally confess to their spouse. They didn’t think the spouse would feel anything but forgiveness because they love each other so much. They were shocked to be forcibly removed form the house and served with divorce papers. In divorce court the unfaithful spouse kept saying “Marriage vows are forever – this person doesn’t have a right to divorce me.” That spouse failed to realize that marriage is contingent upon adherence to marriage vows. And instead of pointing the finger at the spouse they betrayed, they should point the finger at their own heart.

You may think I’m teaching works based salvation. But that is not the case. A marriage, such as the one noted in the example above, was never founded on “works.” But faithfulness preserves a marriage, just like faithfulness preserves salvation. God bless you!!

Thanks for stating the truth Ray! We need to hear it more, the parts of the Word of God we CAN’T ignore.
So thanks for being bold and sharing it.

Do you have any more thoughts along those lines to share? If so I’d like to hear them. Or maybe resources, if you heard them from a specific ministry or book? It’s an area of study/scripture I’m only just getting into studying (or more, I suspect the Holy Spirit is leading me into studying) and I would love more resources and to learn more in this type of thing.
I know it’s kind of random to ask, but you seem well-informed on the subject, (and if I don’t ask the answer is always no, haha. A scriptural principle!) and maybe you’d be willing to share more?

So if you wanted to talk about it sometime, or share your revelations I would really appreciate it!

Many thanks and blessings!

Well put Ray. God bless.

I think your comment regards to the way females dress means they want sex is inappropriate I was brought up old school and dress modestly but I still think it’s wrong of you to assume , some woman lack confidence and may only feel good if they dress skimpy but it doesn’t mean there asking for it God still loves them as much as you and I ,

Carrot September 22, 2016 at 4:49 pm

How often does God say the words “I love you”? I found this very interesting: Isaiah 43:4 Because you are precious in my eyes, and honored, and I love you, I give men in return for you, peoples in exchange for your life. (ESV)

I always feel unloved by my earthly father and so ran into these Scriptures to remind myself of my. Heavenly Father’s love to keep myself from going down the spiral of feeling unloved. I am my Beloved’s and He is mine and His banner over me is love!

Dear Pastor / Brother / Sister in Christ,
Greetings to you in the name of our Lord Jesus’ name from India!
I am Pastor Bashir. I would like to share with you that our God has called me & my wife to reach specifically to the Muslims with The Message of God’s Love and establish Churches inside Muslim community. I and my wife both have surrendered our lives into His hands to be used according to His will & guidance in our lives.
Several Muslim men & women surrendered their lives to Jesus and received free salvation from our Lord Jesus and they are following the teachings of our Lord Jesus and witnessing to their own relatives and neighbours by His grace. Most of them are living in threats by the Radical Muslims but God has protected them so far for His own glory.
Humbly, I request you kindly pray that God might constantly help us to be obedient, faithful, honest, humble and He might help us to live in His holiness. Please pray for His divine protection in our lives and in all the believers form Muslim background in our fellowship. We are having burden in our hearts to have PRIMARILY at least 500 believers from Muslim background in our Church and to establish as many as House Churches inside Muslim community in my area by His grace & mercies.
