I understand all of this and have for a long time.. my question would be… is it okay to watch things like harry potter? is it okay as an actor to portray those kind of characters? Thanks

Sherrie Schwab July 9, 2016 at 9:45 pm

no it is not ok to watch Harry Potter it is sorcery and witchcraft and is very serious sin.the bible tells us to have nothing to do with the works of darkness.if you havevyou can pray and repent and renounce the works of darkness in your life and ask God to forgive you and close the door you opened to Satin by watching that.God bless You!! sherrie

Are modern day magicians committing a sin by doing magic shows? Please send me a reply by email.

Jack Wellman September 23, 2017 at 8:38 am

I cannot answer that for the person performing the magic tricks. If they think it is wrong after having studied these passages then to them it is sin, for what is not of faith is sin. Personally, I would want nothing to do with magic and speaking for myself, I think it is wrong, so to each one, they must be convinced it is wrong or it is right in their own mind. Does this make sense sir?

Some of you need to get over yourselves. What kind of God do you think you have? A mean old man who sits upstairs and decides to let you burn in hell forever for watching a kid’s show called Harry Potter? I’ve been a Christian for a long time, and I’ve learned a thing or two from paying attention to other Christians. There is a type of Christian in this world who is very concerned with the devil and hell and especially how most people are going to hell. I believe that type of Christian has entirely misunderstood who Jesus was and why He died. I believe Christianity is foremostly about LOVE. I believe Jesus, and as He is a true reflection of the Father, is about LOVE. Not hell. Not mistakes and sins. Love.
The Pharisees were also very literal-minded about the rules, and what was a sin and what wasn’t a sin, and who was evil and who wasn’t. Jesus called them “a nest of vipers”.
God asks you for faith. He asks you for your love. Not your fear. Not that you should obey every rule. Jesus did not much appreciate the judgemental or the spiritually-proud. So I would say, not have you watched Harry Potter, but do you pay too much attention to what other people are doing and judging it?
I don’t want to be the kind of Christian that Jesus just wouldn’t like; a mean, judgemental, superior sort of person-even if I obeyed ALL the rules.

You are right that Jesus came and demonstrated the greatest love the world will ever know. You are wrong that Jesus, “did not much appreciate the judgmental”. Assuming we both accept the Bible as a reliable source of God’s will and wisdom, it states that all people are going to face judgment and Jesus himself will be the presiding judge. Jesus does clearly represent forgiveness and understanding of our fallen state. It is equally clear he does not endorse willful disobedience. To blur the impact on our relationship with God through the acceptance of demonic power as manifested through witchcraft is not just spiritual blindness, it is opening a door for compromise in many areas which are inconsistent with loving God with all our heart, mind, soul and strength.

Lisa, Has God changed on His opinion about witchcraft? Would it sound strange to you that Satan would want to effect children through one of their favorite pastimes ( movies ) Have you heard anyone ranting on you going to hell? Why are you so defensive about Christians exposing sorcery, witchcraft, voodoo, hoodoo, etc. or comparing what our entertainment with the Bible? Testing things by the Bible is not being a Pharisee and much of our entertainment needs that test with an honest heart of how God sees it.

Well said Sam. Thank you sir.

Hi jack
Am not Wicca nor I follow that religion that I think is been corrupted with different ideologies ( such the evil spirits etc) I was just saying that the true Wicca is not evil they don’t believe in hell or devil…

Lisa August 14, 2019 at 5:06 pm

Hi all- I am so glad that Mike has taken the time to sort his way through all that scripture says on this sorcery- which I had forgotten included mind- altering drugs!
My own son is into Wicca- which he says is not witchcraft- but tell me mike- is that true?
He started young by watching those “paranormal” shows on tv where they have a person go to a haunted house and can “feel” the presence of spirits and such. I felt uncomfortable with this- but did not do anything about it. Now he wears a pentagram around his neck. Please pray for him. And please leave any insights you have for me. He used to take communion in our church- but then as a late teen did not anymore because he said “ it’s too serious “

Fatima September 19, 2019 at 1:41 am

I think you should read more about what Wicca is they worship the God and the Goddess they believe in the balance of nature and how to heal with plants, the rituals they do is to honor the God and Goddess the pentagram is a symbol of the 4 elements water, earth, air, fire the north, east, south and west… there is more to not but I just believe is wrong to judge when someone doesn’t take the time to Learn. If you look around even the same Christians fight among themselves all that read a bible is a Christian and again must of you have separate yourselves from Catholic Church, jeahova witness, Mormonism. They all have a Bible so this is the reason a lot of people dislike Christianity because you’ll are about Judging. Wiccans by the way do not believe in hell or the devil there is not such thing. That was something the “ Christians” invented to kill the “ witches” that by the way used to cure with herbs.

Jack Wellman September 19, 2019 at 9:30 am

Hello Fatima. I am not judging you or those who practice wicca…I am judging whether it is from God or not, and it is not from God. Do your research and you’ll discover that this is a satanic source and if it’s not from God, it’s from the enemy. Jesus said you are either for Him or against Him, and wicca beliefs are against Bible truth. I do not judge the people who practice it, but am judging it to be false or satanic, but you are doing exactly what you are accusing us of…you are judging us and not our beliefs. I will pray you repent of this man-made “religion” and see the truth or you will face God’s wrath, and I dont wish that on anyone. It was not invented to kill witches and we did not make up heaven and hell. Your own religion, if you want to call it that, is made up or created by man. God’s Word, the Bible, is not the product of humans but the very Word of God. Praying you see that and repent of that or else (Rev 20:12-15).

Sorcery in the Greek is Pharmakia and where we get the words pharmacy and pharmaceutical. Revelation 18:23 relates rich merchants to deceiving the world with their sorcery. Patmacuticles are the 3rd biggest killer behind cancer and heart disease. There are often suppressed natural alternative cures for many diseases which along side better nutrition and other lifestyle changes are discouraged by these patmacuticles to protect their finances. Big pharma is akin to Satan, deceiving the whole world, but with Pharmakia.
