I can’t see in scripture or in my heart that a pastor should ever profit from a congregation, but only to be given what is needed to survive, so more may go towards ministries and helping the church members. Much less to retire and if so why not at 50 like the Lord commanded the Levites. Thank the Lord for His son Christ for being the sacrifice now. Thank you for your article. God bless

Hello Zachary. Paul says that the laborer is worthy of his wages and they make their living doing this, so how is the pastor to take care of his family without support from the church? The Levites were paid too but in wool, sheep, cattle, crops, etc, but Paul, Peter, John or not one other pastor or apostle ever retired. It’s not found in Scripture and the Levites are a completely different issue as they are not pastors.
