Rising Threats to Religious Liberty in America (and elsewhere)

Here’s how Christianity is losing religious liberties in America and elsewhere and it’s only going to get worse.

What is Evil is Called Good

What Does The Bible Say About Rape and AbortionChristianity is losing religious liberties in America but also elsewhere and it’s only going to get worse. To begin with, “Anti-faith, anti-reality forces are driving many religious people and institutions out of American public life,” stated RFI President David Trimble in an article published this week in National Catholic Register. [1] Not that long ago, the majority of Americans supported religious freedom, but that’s taken a radical swing in the opposite direction now. The 1993 Religious Freedom Restoration Act is a great example. When this bill was passed with overwhelming, bipartisan support, it was widely embraced, even among non-Christians, but today dissenters are redefining human sexuality, the nature of male and female, marriage, and even the value of human beings at the beginning and end of life. Abortion is “acceptable” to them, but we know that it is murder and God sees it as murder (Ex 20:13). Increasingly, these new definitions are contrary to the Word of God. Maybe we can understand the Prophet Isaiah’s warning, “Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter” (Isaiah 5:20)!

Sexual Immorality and Judgment

God will not tolerate sexual immorality, even if others think it’s okay today, but what they think doesn’t affect what is true and we know God abhors sexual immorality. And it’s even worse when they hide theses sins and even justify them under the umbrella of Christianity. God sees that they are simply justifying their sins and calling it “good,” but that’s something Solomon warned about, writing, “He who justifies the wicked and he who condemns the righteous are both alike an abomination to the LORD” (Prov 17:15). It is highly doubtful that these religious dissenters will even take note of that warning. But it’s more than a warning…it is a promise of God’s coming judgement on all who rationalize their sexual immorality under the cloak of Christianity (1 Cor 6:9-10; Gal 5:21; Eph 5:5; Rev 21:8, 22:15).

Threats to Religious Freedom

Several Canadian pastors have been imprisoned over their simply reading Scripture. To get arrested for reading the Bible to your church and then the authorities calling it “hate speech” is getting to be more and more frequent. Facebook, and other social medias are allergic to anything to do with God or the Bible, and especially those who quote Scripture showing the sexually immoral will not be in the Kingdom (1 Cor 6:9-10; Gal 5:21; Eph 5:5; Rev 21:8, 22:15). To be arrested for saying in public what the Bible says – for things that we believe in – is an increasing threat even in America. In the public squares, where freedom of speech is supposed to exist, many evangelists are forced to quit or stop preaching in public or leave the area (or be arrested). Was this really, as one police officer called it, “disturbing the peace?” Some pastors have even been arrested in their pulpit…while they’re preaching!! And my fellow believers, it is only going to grow worse and worse as Christ’s coming approaches. Perhaps Satan knows his time is short and is ramping up his efforts in muzzling Christians and the Bible (Rev 12:12).

Bible Censorship

The Bible is being increasingly banned or censored. One man at work risked getting fired if he didn’t remove the Bible from his desk. He wasn’t even reading it during work, but only during break or lunch. Of course, most public schools have banned the Bible from their shelves, but they somehow allow the Quran which teaches hate your enemies and kill unbelievers (of Islam) while the Bible teaches us to love our enemies and love our neighbor. How twisted is that! God has now effectively been kicked out of the public squares, the government and public schools, but when a tragedy strikes, they ask, “Where was God!?” I remind them, “Don’t you remember, you kicked Him out.”

Final Thoughts

Maybe you remember the Equality Act, a bill that supporters say would protects the rights of L.G.B.T. Americans, but this is actually one of “the greatest threat to religious freedom currently before Congress,” because this bill “forbid schools from having a categorical policy of separating their teams based on biological sex.” [2] Of course, God created them male and female (Ge 1:27), and that is true physically, or biologically. Chromosomes don’t lie. What is male DNA and female DNA is what it is, no matter what they think or believe. They can think or feel God accepts this or that “because they love one another,” but it doesn’t matter what we think! Eve loved the forbidden fruit! Bank robbers love money! Really, all that matters is what God thinks and says in His unchangeable Word. What was true 2,000 years ago is still true today. 2 + 2 will always be 4, even if they “feel” it should be five.

Last Days

This is not happening in America only but “[I]n countries like Afghanistan, North Korea and Nigeria, following Christ can mean public mockery, familial disownment, severe beatings or punishments and in the most extreme cases—death.” [3] Every single year, the facts are clear, that there are more and more cases of Christian persecution being reported—not less, and even more persecution is occurring that is even reported. In just the last year, over 360 million Christians experienced some level of persecution, including death.

Conclusion

I pray you have put your trust in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. If that has not happened yet, my friend, you are in real danger of hell fire. And I mean, in immediate danger. You’re one breath, one heartbeat…one accident away from eternity when it will be too late to repent. Today is the best day to believe (2 Cor 6:2) since tomorrow is no guarantee. If Jesus Christ came today, here is your fate (Matt 7:21-23). This is why I plead with you as you read this, repent today…and I mean right now. Put your trust in Jesus Christ. If you do not, you will face God’s judgment after death guaranteed (Heb 9:27) or at Jesus Christ’s appearance (Rev 20:12-15), which could happen at any moment.
