Hi Jack…

I have a good one for you that I am at a loss to answer….I am not taking sides therefore I am going to state what I know for sure…God says do not kill. So to me that means no abortion, or morning after pill…basically notihing that would end life after it begins. We take this stance because only God can choose when a life should end. On the same note, one could argue that maybe we shouldn’t be doing invitro fertilization since that is man creating life. However, God still can choose to let that work, or not! Remember, I am not taking sides on that!

Tonight a friend got very defensive with me about any form of birth control being wrong and against Biblical teaching. She insist that the bible is clear about any use of birth control and no she is not Catholic, or Mormon! She was of the mind that even birth control pills are wrong because “they kill eggs meant to be babies”. My response was that I know of no scripture that says we can’t prevent pregnancy within a marriage. I did however agree with her on the methods that end life after it starts. To me, if the birth control pill is one that simply stops fertilization from ever occuring, then nothing has been killed! To me, this is no differant than a person having her tubes tied, or a man having his cut!

She recently had her tubes tied and I think someone has been making her feel guilty. She insist that all major churches preach against the use of birth control of any kind. All I could tell her was that I was raised Lutheran and non-denominational, and now am baptist. None of those churches have ever preached against all forms of birth control and the churches that I have attended prior to the Baptist, usually didn’t have really large families. I know the Roman Catholic church and the Mormons preach this but do not know of any others who have doctrine against this! I asked her to provide me with scripture dealing specifically with this issue, not ones that simply state do not kill!

Maybe there is something that I have missed in scripture? I am now single and have been for years so it is not an issue for me at this time. I would really like your views and input on this issue.

Cat, I believe that there are few churches that teach that birth control is wrong or sin, for there is no Scriptural support for this. I can not find even one single Bible verse that gives credence to belief that birth control is wrong. Abortion, yes, clearly that is taking a human life, but human life begins at conception and if an egg can not be fertilized thru birth control methods, then there is no conception, right? I agree with you. Your friend has no reason to feel guilty. My daughter in law had her tubes tied but this was because she had so many children already. I see no Scriptural support at all for not allowing for birth control. Thanks, as always, Cat.

Thank you Jack. I was pretty sure I was correct on this but wanted to confirm that I hadn’t missed something! I will tell her that I ran this topic by you and that we agree. However, if she can provide scripture to support it, then I will gladly rethink my position…A this point her only arguement is that we are forbidden to kill but she doesn’t seem to understand that you can’t kill something that is not alive yet!

As always, thanks!

Is there a way to testify that homosexuality is against God’s design, without referencing those verses that clearly bring it up?

Jack Wellman June 17, 2015 at 6:44 pm

Thank you Jeff. Which verses are you referring to that you’d rather not use sir? Maybe you can read this for other verses because this is full of scriptural evidence so click on this link for more: http://www.whatchristianswanttoknow.com/what-does-the-bible-say-about-same-sex-marriage-is-it-sin/

I have made a huge mistake in hurting one person and it open doors to spiritual warfare. We have settled but the enemy’s oppression continues to wage a war on me. It also reminds of my epic failure in this regard. What should I do to find healing and deliverance?

I would talk to your pastor or a church leader like an elder or deacon. I would say it’s good to be under spiritual attack because this shows that you are doing something that’s a threat to the kingdom of darkness. We should not be surprised though for it happens to most Christians.
