You are truly a remarkably good teacher Robert. I wish I could sit in your Sunday school class if you indeed do teach. I am always learning from you and am humbled by your hunger and thirst to learn and to pass those things on to us. I will never arrive, but you are helping me in my journey. Thanks brother. The Law is good and even, as you said, we are not saved by the Law, it is just and good and Jesus kept it where we couldn’t…for which I thank Him.

Thank you for the kind words, you know that it is the grace of God that gives me any skill I possess. I heard John MacArthur say, just this morning (on the radio, I don’t hang out with him…ha) that Christians are losing the ability, and the desire, to think deeply about the things in the Bible. Too many simply want quick, cookie-cutter theology because their lives are so hectic (I know you and I can both relate to that). However, he said that this is having a detrimental affect on our spirituality especially in the area of discernment; it is becoming increasingly more difficult for believers to recognize biblical truth. The sad thing is that all it would take is for us to set aside a bit of time for serious study of the Bible, not merely reading it and moving on, but truly understanding and applying it to our lives (I know you know this, but others may not). God bless you, brother. And give yourself credit, I know you are a very biblically knowledgeable guy.
Yours in Christ,
Robert

Thank you so much for this article. I, for a long time, had been wondering about the significance of the old testament laws and how it plays with Jesus Christ. Many people who criticize Christianity and the Bible do not understand what the law is for and how it plays a role in a persons need for righteousness, forgiveness, and salvation. The first thing they see is that a woman has to marry her rapist and immediately there minds, that have been thoroughly developed by society and culture and modern “truths”, take offense without actually trying to understand what the law is for. Great article and thank you for writing it.

Chevy,
Thank you for the kind words. I hope that the article will strengthen your walk with the Lord. You are right, non-believers latch onto certain parts of the Old Testament that are easy for them to mock and ridicule, but they will not face the clear teachings in the same book. We must continue to pray for them and follow the Holy Spirit’s leading when it comes to how we interact with them. God bless you.
Yours in Christ,
Robert
