My son is in prison, his third time. I learned that I couldnt save him. That I had to hand him over to God. But he and others are thirsting for hope, knowledge and understanding. And I would like to be able to do that for someone elses child that is imprisoned. Thank you for the tips. Londa

Does your pastor know of any churches that do this? There are many others who write these prisoners so what is it that I can do for you Mrs. Matthews?

I am responding to a Message left years ago but. Just happened to read it and it really inspired my Journey to pray with and for Mother’s of Incarcerated children My daughter is 17 and she has been in 3 times now and I believe support and networking is vital. Please reach out and tell me about the Prayers you have been doing and How things have been going.

My husband and I are separated. His choice, not mine. I had a deep feeling to write a prison ministry. I’m a nurse and not a writer, but I feel God led me. I wrote a book my pain and why God puts us through trials. I would like to get the book published and into prisons. I know publishing is expensive and I want no money for my part. Do you know of any company that might publish “works” as a donation to a prison ministry.

Jack Wellman February 12, 2017 at 7:15 pm

Hello Michelle. First of all, I am so sorry for the pain you must have and are still going through. I believe if you look under “self publishing,” you might be pleased. Several years ago I wrote an article on how to do this and so here it is. I hope it helps. Follow the link. I love you have the same heart as our church has in helping prisoners and leading some of them to Christ. http://www.ovimagazine.com/art/5366

I read this because there is a young man in our church that was saved in prison,
We are praying for the door to open,
He wants to share and I want to help him!

Jack Wellman February 26, 2017 at 9:21 pm

I will pray with you over this my friend. With God, all things are possible. God can open doors we cannot.

Hello there!
I am a pastor here in Kenya with a heart for prison ministry here in Kenya. I would like to start a prison ministry here in Kenya. Kindly assist me to start one. Blessing!

Jack Wellman October 27, 2018 at 10:40 am

Hello pastor. I would just do what is written. I cannot add anything more. You must meet those in authority and know that God is sovereign even over them. Find the prisoners, talk to the officials, and start at ground zero where I did pastor. I don’t know what more I can do sir.

Christopher Scalf December 18, 2018 at 10:37 am

Hey Preacher,
I just wanted to thank you for the resource. I am a member of First Baptist Jacksonville, Fl and we have a very active Prison Ministry. I get to go every other Monday night and mentor men in a Faith Based program. I see a shortage of programs for the local jails. We have 2 Brothers that visit Duval County Jail on Saturdays and have a couple hundred guys that hear their preaching. I hope you will pray for us as we try to widen the reach of Christ behind bars.
God Bless You!!!

Jack Wellman December 18, 2018 at 4:33 pm

You are so kind sir, but I could never have done this by my own hand. All to Him be the glory (Psalm 115:1). I pray God sends forth more laborers into the harvest to enter in with you all because the harvest is so great, yet the laborers, so few. GOd bless you richly for your labor of love for His glory.

David Green September 3, 2019 at 12:02 am

Tracy Mars October 28, 2019 at 10:35 am

Good Morning, I am mother of a young child that has been locked up more than once but, I am also a woman of faith and Believe that Their are so many mothers that need help in Prayer for their children that have went down a bad path and I know that GOD can do anything So I am wanting to begin a Ministry but, Just don’t know how to connect with other mothers.

Jack Wellman October 28, 2019 at 11:28 am

Hello Mrs. Mars and thank you for your comment. Depending upon what state you live in, you can find others who are already doing what you want to do and you can join with them. My wife writes women prisoners and I write the men, and a women’s prison ministry is so needed today so you can fill a need for God while doing what we’re commanded to do (Matt 25:35-36). Contact your local state department of corrections and they could point you in the right direction. I will pray you find your calling here. Maybe you can meet with some of the women in your church or community. Ask your pastor about this too as he may give you some other ways to consider. I am overjoyed you desire to do this.

Bob Turman October 20, 2020 at 1:17 pm

I am feeling Gods call to go into jails and prisons ….. I also want to raise money for those in prison that have needs I am a layman minister and I also am a musician and want to get a 501 c3 to help raise money for my brothers and sisters in prison Help me Jesus cause I know You need me to do this In Columbus Ohio Its the 4th worst county jail in America as far as violence and suicides and medical negligence do you know how I can get this ball moving in Jesus direction This is burning in my heart I myself come from a life of addiction violence ands crime and Jesus is doing miracles in my life and want to share this with them guys in jail where i once sat

Jack Wellman October 20, 2020 at 2:32 pm

So glad to hear this Mr. Turman. My prayers are for you. Talk to your pastor about this. Perhaps your church can help you in this area. For example, letters to prisoners is an great outreach.

Eva Castaneda December 8, 2020 at 10:51 am

I am wanting to go to these jails and prisons and share how God pulled me out of the darkness and into the light of Glory. Lord knows my heart Now being a Christian when 9 years ago I was a big hot mess making and selling Drugs,in and out of jail and prison all my childhood and part of my life. I really want to share my testamony with ladies that feel that doing the world’s is the best way which is in reality that the Devil trying to keep them captive. God says we are the church in spirit and that we just can’t keep it to ourselves. We need to go out and spread the good news . Jesus didn’t just talked to people that that had alot he spoke to the bad people to bring them to his father and that is why I want to get into jail and prison ministry. There is a great need in order for our people to bring them to repentance and to see that accept us where we are.all the time.

Jack Wellman December 8, 2020 at 12:18 pm

Amen Eva. You are the perfect fit to minister to women prisoners who may have gone thru just what you did. I will pray God opens a door for you. Call your pastor to see what he might suggest too. I am so proud some want to go into the hard places where few will go, but I know Jesus would, and am overjoyed you desire to do so as well. Praise the Lord for sending godly, women saints into the harvest field!!!
