PJ, what do you think of nations that are totally godless? For example, North Korea. I know that God ordains “the powers that be,” but North Korea is a godless nightmare, the people are suffering, and the Kim Dynasty has set itself up in place of God. I agree with everything you wrote, but I’m just wondering how God is using something like this. I’ve read that Christians have tried to make secret house churches there and distribute bibles, but I believe I also read that they also suffer severe persecution and imprisonment for the faith. On a personal note, for me, when I think of great suffering or obvious evil in the world, rather than using that as evidence of a lack of a god, I use it as my hope that there is one, because if not, those children who suffer there under the rule of an evil man will never be consoled by God. It’s a thought that I just can’t stand. I would like to hear your thoughts on this. Thank you.

Hello Jason. God can use evil for good (Gen 50:20) and what greater evil was there than Jesus being murdered on a cross (John 3:16)? What if God had prevented that? we’d all be lost in our sins forever. Persecution, as you read in the Book of Acts, always spread the church and the Bible teaches all who live godly will suffer persecution, so it shouldn’t surprise us (1 Pet 4). God will ensure justice so we must leave it up to Him (Rom 12:19- and can’t we trust God in this? I do.
