Hi, Pastor Jack. I’ve noticed this tendency before–people will try to invalidate the whole Bible by pointing to one instance that seems unbelievable. They usually go find something in Genesis. What is significant to me is that I believe in the Bible on a completely different basis–the teachings of Jesus Christ. Those alone were what showed me that the Bible was the word of God. So, and unbeliever will look at something like Balaam’s donkey and use it to invalidate the words of Christ, while for me Christ’s words and his truth tell me that the rest of it must be real. I feel that they are doing it purely to convince themselves that the Bible is false, because if the words of Jesus are true, then they stand convicted and have to make an uncomfortable choice. For some people I’ve talked to over the years, they have decided to make the Bible false simply so they can continue to live as gods unto themselves. Thanks for this article. -Jason

Sometimes I am just trying to understand and I am asking someone to help me with the speech of a donkey – there is no question about who God is and that Christ resurrected from the grave and is savior. It is not always the case that someone who is asking is an unbeliever.

The reason I know Christ rose from the grave is because no man ever would deliberately choose to invent a story about how the big brave women went to the tomb and all the early church leaders, all men, were hidden for fear. That got me to understand that resurrection. Jesus is Lord.
