I read your words and have some questions. When you said you did all those things and then said ‘ still nothing. ” What did you mean? What were your expectations?

The things of God are not sustained by feelings and experiences but are known and confirmed by His Word.

Forgiveness is granted as you have acknowledged what He has revealed to you is sin and you have turned to follow after Him in study and going forward to live by the wisdom of His word .

Taking that word IN as you do and going forward in life applying what you learn from study of the Word equips you to live more and more NOT ‘obeying ‘ sinful fleshly urges .

Rom 8:2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.

In your following Jesus Christ you have the freedom to live according to His spirit which is HIS word in you.

His Word obeyed equips you to do what He informs you from His word.

Faith is BUILT by way of continuing to ‘eat’ the Word …keep on feeding your thoughts with the Word…..and …

Pro 3:5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

Pro 3:6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

Pro 3:7 ¶ Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil.

Pro 3:8 It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones.

Jhn 6:37 All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in NO WISE CAST OUT.

1Jo 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us [our] sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Eph 5:26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,

Keep “washing ” with the Word daily!

Mat 11:28 Come unto me, all [ye] that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

Mat 11:29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

Mat 11:30 For my yoke [is] easy, and my burden is light.

My expectations were after confessing my sins and reading the word and asking in the name of jesus God would answer my prayers. Not just answer my prayers but guide me throu his word on how to over come the obsticules i was facing. Prayers to have a financial freedom and a forgiving heart.

I beleived that to get closer to god first u have to ask for forgiveness of ur sins, read his word, have faith and beleive. I was not doing this just to have a quick fix in my life but i had given my self to god and wanted to serve him while i was on earth.

Time went by and prayers were not answered. Im not agaisnt god but sometimes i think he takes time to answer some prayers and i dont understand why he let his followers surfer yet he gives a hand to people who doesnt serve him.

i read if u seek god throu fasting he will show his face to u.

Dear Nangamso,

I realize that your comment is almost a year old, and you may no longer need guidance on this subject. However, I will still try my best to help you with what you are dealing with.

When Jesus Christ died on the cross for our sins He took the burden for ALL sin, past, present, and future. When Christ died He not only took the penalty for our sins, but He also gave us His righteousness. What does this mean? This simply means that Christ has taken the penalty of our sins so that they do not count against us anymore if we trust in Him. Also, when God looks at us, though we still sin, He does not see our sinfullness but sees Christ’s righteousness instead. This is why we can come to God without fear if we trust that He has paid the penalty for us.

When you are constantly praying for God to forgive you, He has heard those prayers. He has already answered them by dying on the cross. In this act, He has reconciled us to Himself and forgiven us, offerin eternal life in Him. This gift, however, only applies if we choose to accept it by accepting Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior and admitting that there is nothing we can do to save ourselves, but He has already done it for us. So when we sin, we are not losing our salvation, but we are hurting our fellowship with God. It makes us have a strained relationship with God when we are disobeying Him, but we still have our standing in Christ and are still saved. The reason we confess sins is not to maintain forgiveness, but to repent so that we can once again have a closer relationship with God.

As far as financial struggles and having a forgiving heart go, The Lord promises us that if we choose to follow Christ we will be persecuted. This persecution can be physical, mental, spiritual, cultural, etc. However, God does not promise that our life on earth will be easy. He does, however, promise us eternity with Him if we trust Jesus Christ as Savior.

When you are trying to become closer to God, always remember that He has an ultimate plan and sometimes that requires us to wait. He says throughout the bible to “wait on The Lord”. It is also important to remember that we do not get closer to God through doing good works. Rather, we grow closer to God by believing and understanding the gospel and listening to what the Holy Spirit and the bible have to tell us. As we understand what Christ has done for us, we grow closer to Him and choose to obey Him, not out of obligation, but out of love for Him. There are always times when you will stumble and fall, as we all do because we are still sinful, but always remember what Christ has done for us and trust in Him. I hope this helps!

Hi,I have such a trendous fear of going to hell. I have a real struggle with sin. I can not go to church,Due to myself having a severe seizure disorder,There is zero Christian support,And all I can think about is going to hell. How can I know for certain I am saved. And how can I know if I have really repented,And how can I know if I am on my way to Heaven?

Dear Homer,

If you have placed your trust in Jesus Christ by accepting Him as your savior and inviting Him into your heart than you are saved. The bible tells us that “the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life”. This means that we have absolutely no way of protecting ourselves from hell, because “all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God”. All of us deserve hell and no matter what we do, even if we do just about everything right in life and have one tiny sin we are worthy of hell. So we are all worthy of hell. Our sin seperates us from a Holy, Righteous, and perfectly Just God. What can we do to bridge this gap? Nothing. God, however, is a God of abundant love and mercy and gave us a way to know Him personally and have eternal life. Because we are sinful, to die and be sent to hell is what we deserve. However, God sent His son Jesus Christ, God incarnate, who is completely pure and blameless to take the punishment for sin in our place. On the cross, Jesus, though He was perfect, took all the sins of the world ever committed in the past, present, and future. He then rose from death indicating that He has authority over death and has the authority to take away our sins because He is God. He now offers eternal life to all who believe and accept Him as Lord and Savior. If you have already made this decision, you can know that it is completely by God’s grace that you are saved. God is all powerful, all knowing, all just, all good, and all loving and He tells us that none shall be snached from His hand. If you have accepted Christ as your savior and acknowledged that it is only through Him that you are saved than there is nothing you can do to lose your salvation. You cannot make God love you any more than He already does, nor can you make Him love you any less. He loves you completely because when He sees you, He no longer sees your sin but He sees Christ’s righteousness because Christ took your place. The enemy does not want you to believe that God’s grace is suffecient for you, but God tells us in the bible that His grace is all we need. It is by faith in Him that we are saved, and there is no power that can undue what He has done for us on the cross. So if you have accepted Christ as savior you are sealed for eternity and nothing can snatch you from His hand. Even if you feel far away, His grace is suffecient for you, trust in Him.

I’m confused about myself, I believe God and have faith in his promises, but every time I try to get closer to him it feels like a force doesn’t want me to, I feel nonchalant a lot of times about going to church. When I sin even when I know I could have overcome it I feel very ashamed to ask for forgiveness, because I feel I have taken God’s grace for granted and this just pulls me further apart from him. Honestly I’m a definition of the spirit is willing but the flesh is not. I really want to serve God wholeheartedly, I want to receive the gift of speaking in tongues which comes with the Holy Spirit. I really really want to genuinely be for him alone.

Hello Eunice. THe Bible never tells us to pray for gifts or pray for the gift of tongues. The word tongues is from the Greek “Glossia” and means language, so it is a known langauge. If you want to serve God, find a church and tell them you want to do what Jesus says (Matt 25:35-36) as unto Him (Matt 25:40). If you keep doing what you are doing, and that is nothing, then you are doing nothing for Christ and that’s serious (Matt 25:41….. Please don’t depend on “I feel this” or “I feel that” but rather obey God If yoiu really want to serve God, forget about tongues. Get to serving. That’s the most important thing. The gifts of the Spirit are fine….but God is concerend with the fruits of the Spirit. Call your pastor…tell him…sign up and serve. As for tongues, I believe this will help clear things up for you.
