I had a friend who lived in a senior citizen building and we used to go to church together. I never saw any person in my whole life who was so tormented as this friend. She was totally convinced that she was one of those that God had chosen not to save and she was obsessed with fear and hopelessness. There was nothing I could say that changed her conviction, nor was there anything in any of the sermons we heard together that eased this horrible thought she had in her mind. She was not only convinced she would not be saved, but she ‘knew’ none of her children or family members would be saved either. I do not know anything further about her because she angrily pushed everyone away out of her life and that was many years ago. How do you help someone like that?

Hello Ginger. I am so glad you care enough for this person to help. Prayer for them is obvious, but beyond that, still try to keep in touch, keep an open ear, and keep that contact with them. God may be ripening their heart right now. I wished I could speak with her and tell her taht its whoever may come to CHrist can be saved. Don’t focus on who is and who isn’t chosen, but whoever believes in Jesus will be saved. That’s about all you can tell her. It must be the Holy Spirit that brings her to repentance and faith, which is the very gospel Jesus Christ brought (Mark 1:14-15). I will pray for them.
