A man’s sin is Gods heaviest grief.

Pam January 19, 2012 at 8:30 pm

Thank you for sharing your favorite Victor. Just a few little words and such a huge truth! Blessing to you.

Yet for all God’s good will toward us, He is unable to grant us our heart’s desires till all our desires have been reduced to one. When we have dealt with our carnal ambitions; when we have trodden upon the lion and adder of the flesh, have trampled the dragon of self-love under our feet and have truly reckoned ourselves to have died unto sin, then and only then can God raise us to newness of life and fill us with His blessed Holy Spirit… It requires a serious mind and a determined heart to pray past the ordinary into the unusual. Most Christians never do. (AW Tozer – Born after Midnight)

A prophet hurts, so does A W Tozer. The words of this Godly man are Amazingly inspiring and illuminating. His words are enabled by the spirit and filled with the power from above.

His kind is greatly missing today!!!!!!!!

” Refuse to be average. Let your heart soar as high as it will.”

Stephanie Evans June 5, 2012 at 8:24 pm

Jesus calls us to His rest and meekness is his method. The meek man cares not at all who is greater than he, for he has long ago decided that the esteem of the world is not worth the effort.

I have hard time agreeing with Mr Tozer when he said God doese not richly bless any man until he hurts him deeply. i do not believe that GOD HURTS ANYONE.

John 3:36
Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him.
Revelation 3:19
Those whom I love, I reprove and discipline, so be zealous and repent.
2 Samuel 7:14
I will be to him a father, and he shall be to me a son. When he commits iniquity, I will discipline him
Job 5:17
“Behold, blessed is the one whom God reproves; therefore despise not the discipline of the Almighty.
Proverbs 15:10
There is severe discipline for him who forsakes the way; whoever hates reproof will die.
Isaiah 26:16
O LORD, in distress they sought you; they poured out a whispered prayer when your discipline was upon them.
1 Corinthians 11:32
But when we are judged by the Lord, we are disciplined so that we may not be condemned along with the world.
Hebrews 12:6
For the Lord disciplines the one he loves, and chastises every son whom he receives.”
Hebrews 12:8
If you are left without discipline, in which all have participated, then you are illegitimate children and not sons.
Hebrews 12:10
For they disciplined us for a short time as it seemed best to them, but He disciplines us for our good, that we may share his holiness.
Hebrews 12:11
For the moment all discipline seems painful rather than pleasant, but later it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.

God actually is not directly involved in hurting any one but, He often allows us to go to the depth of what we often want most in life; than to wait for His Divine Will. After we hurt ourselves because of our pride, God reaches out to us by His Grace and Mercy to raise us back to the place of blessing He had predestined our lives to be before the creation of the world.

Children of God stop the samantics you sound like the Pharisees who Jesus so often hurt/ discipline/ correct……..
Just stop and read Tozer in his context not through our personal lens.

Was reading from his book this morning,”Rut Rot or Revival” and this stuck out to me, “God created the world out of nothing, can he not do anything in and through us?” and he also said “He wills to do for us” . . . he wants to move mountains for us, longs to, its up to us to believe him to.

Dave Wade August 27, 2012 at 3:30 pm

My favorite Tozer quote is “The plough precedes revival.” I have most of his books and can no longer find this great quote which refers to the proud heart condition which so often disables God’s revivals.

It also points to the futility of planned revivals whose motives are suspect.

Can you help me find it?

I love this quote: I want the Presence of God Himself, or I don’t want anything at all that has to do with religion.I want all that God has, or I don’t want anything.~***

jen April 19, 2015 at 9:04 am

I love this quote also . In His presence is fullness of joy with nothing lacking. We will all ways find lack when we are just content with religion…. He’s always been about relationship with Him, He was never about religion ( man’s version of Him) only Puts His Holy Spirit in a box… and the box is always to small.

I love this quote ‘faith is an organ for knowledge, love is an organ for experience

khama October 8, 2012 at 10:41 am

Where are the Tozers of today? Without men like Tozer and Ravenhill we are poorer significantly.

susie truitt October 18, 2012 at 1:29 pm

Tozer was a human just like us… Bible says “Draw nigh to God and He will draw nigh to you”. we can be as close to Jesus as we want to be, its up to us. If we don’t really want to be, we wont try to be. God takes notice when we on purpose draw nigh. Tozer didn’t have anything we cant have…

” A man by sin may waste himself which is to waste that which on earth is most like God. This is man’s greatest tragedy and God’s greatest grief”.
If we ponder on ”…….God’s greatest grief..” it is heart breaking.

One that I prayed years ago while walking a prison yard, while my flesh trembled I quoted prayerfully “it’s doubtful whether GoD can can greatly bless a man till He hurts him deeply”. And PaPa true and faithful has shown me that narrow road in HiS method of meekness, but I have learned to love not my life unto death and that non of these things shall move me. Because whether things nor circumstances have anything to do with my identity or worth, it is only what DaDDy says that matters.

leonard howard walker February 13, 2015 at 9:57 pm

We can afford to follow Him to failure. Faith dares to fail. The resurrection and the judgment will demonstrate before all worlds who won and who lost. We can wait.”
May I add : Dawn always comes silently. It confronts the darkness quietly, gradually penetrating it. Finally, without any violence or cry of triumph, it conquers it completely.
May the Eternal, Everlasting GOD, our Father hold you all in HIS Arms near HIS Breast. EL – SHADDI. Len.

Galatians 2:20. When we surrender ourselves to Christ, we seize to exist (the I,Me,My). I John.2:6.

My favorite:
You can’t keep birds from flying over your head, but you can stop them from building a nest in your hair.

Thank you sir. Was this not Martin Luther’s quote? Even so, its a great one.

Heather Robinson January 18, 2016 at 9:37 pm

Favourite quote, found in my dad’s notes. “Death is like a horizon – what is a horizon? Nothing more than the limitation of your sight”.

“Most Christians act as if coming to Christ is being invited to a picnic. We should understand that we enter into a war.”

Kassim A.G August 24, 2016 at 10:31 am

“But the sons of this world have not God; they have only each other, and they walk holding to each other and looking to one another for assurance like frightened children.”
