Such a great piece Pamela. It helped me to realize that what I often have called “race” is just an ethnic, cultural difference in a particular group of people. Folks pushing in front of me to take their pictures and videos of everything and then some, are Japanese, it is true….but that is the way they have been trained by habit and custom…not something inherent in their DNA.
Yes, 75% of our inmate population in our prisons is African American, but that is not because of their DNA, but because of poor choices brought about by lack of male role modeling and harsh socio-economic causes. It is hard for me to keep that in perspective at times and you have helped me to re-think my prejudices.
Thank you,

i so wish their were not this race hate; RELY IM A LIGHT SKIN PERSON, IN SA,I have never been racist. My nick name were Tjommie /Chommie so called black word for friend pal, maybe I were born race blind, even though a dark skin man killed my father I cannot hate the whole earth’s black people, because of the sin of one. I AM SO BLESSED TO ATTEND A SO CALLED BLACK CHURCH,HAVE BLACK FRIENDS AND WHITE ONES. Thank you Lord for different people races ,may we never forget that the focus are on You and that You died for everyone.Thank You Jesus.
Hey Doc, it’s well documented that they don’t send whites to prison for the same offenses as blacks. It’s whites decision to be racist.
Hello Nelson. I know Doc and he is not a racist and neither are all whites as their are racist in all people, no matter what color, but it’s not about race but about grace that we are saved. I was in prison back in the mid 70’s and it has nothing to do with race, but in some cases yes, but not overall. I and another African-American man received the very same sentence on the very same day for the very same crime, so please be careful about labeling people as racist, and Doc is the last one you’ll find that is racist. Your own comments betray a bias my friend. Please repent of this today.
