What a great resource this is Pam. After performing a wedding I wish that I had this then after reading your wonderful work here. I look forward to the day when we, the Bride of Christ, will marry the Lamb of God.

Thanks for the descriptions, we are working on order of ceremony with our pastor, she just emailed us the list and have not talked about it yet, so it was nice to be able to catch up on some of my wedding ceremony vocabulary.

Thanks Pam for this helpful and comprehensive outline of a truly Christian ceremony. I like the options it presents too. Great!

Hi, Pam. I really like this format. We’re getting married in !october in an outdoor wedding.m our officiant is not a pastor. Is it still okay to have him pray and read scripture during our ceremony? He is a Christian and we are too. We’re trying to keep it meaningful and unique to us. Many tips? Thanks for any follow up. I appreciate u making this available.

This is a nice sample outline, thank you.
One thing concerns me, did you have any say about the Islam ad, seems strange on a Christian site.

Where does the whole idea of a marriage ceremony come from? I have been married many years and have photographed hundreds of ceremonies, but can find no basis for them in Scripture. Marriage definitely. Ceremonies nothing.

Jack Wellman January 23, 2017 at 8:54 am

There is nothing in the Bible about a marriage ceremony but neither is there anything about having a wedding ring, but don’t you want one because it is a very special occasion. Why do you not want a wedding ceremony? Since there is also nothing about wedding rings, are you not going to wear a wedding ring either? Just because the Bible is silent on something or doesn’t mention it, doesn’t mean it is sin.

Did you mean Matthew 19.16 to be the Scripture reference for the Pronouncement of Marriage? Thanks.
