Jesus Christ the One and only Son of God lived on earth for one main objective, to willingly sacrifice His own body on the cross to be the life-bridge to our Father. On that day He became sin for us and fulfilled His ultimate commitment to be our Savior. As believers, we can be rest assured that our faith in Jesus will save us and we can know for certain that Christ will return one day and finish off Satan once and for all. What does the Bible say about this? Revelation covers this event along with other scriptures written in the Bible.
Jesus’ death at Golgotha was the beginning of His return. When He was resurrected from the tomb, He made it a point to visit many of His close friends , relatives and disciples. (Matt 28:8-9, Luke 24:13-53, John 20:24-29) Before departing for good into heaven to await His glorious final return, he gave the “great commission” to the disciples saying, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” (Matt 28:18-20) At the end of this passage, Christ promises to always be with us, which is a sign that He will be back one day to finish the spiritual warfare that we experience every day and cast the Devil and all his demons and unbelievers into the lake of fire for eternity.
The Book of Revelation
Indeed Revelation is symbolic in many places and is sometimes hard to understand. However, there are many facts in this book that are easy to understand by anyone who reads it. This book tells exactly what is to take place upon Christ’s return. Revelation 1:7a says, “Behold, He is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see Him.” Every single human that has ever lived, even if only in the womb, will see Christ in His glory when he returns.
What Will Christ Look Like?
“And in the midst of the lampstands one like a son of man, clothed with a long robe and with a golden sash around His chest. The hairs of His head were white, like white wool, like snow. His eyes were like a flame of fire, His feet were like burnished bronze, refined in a furnace, and His voice was like the roar of many waters. In His right hand he held seven stars, from His mouth came a sharp two-edged sword (God’s Holy Word), and His face was like the sun shining in full strength.” (Rev 1:13-16) There will be no doubt on the day Christ returns. We will all know Him by looking upon Him.
– The following verses are written to the seven churches addressed in Revelation, but they’re the same promises for all who conquer through Christ.
“To the one who conquers I will give some of the hidden manna, and I will give him a white stone, with a new name written on the stone that no one knows except the one who receives it.” (Rev 2:17)
“The one who conquers and who keeps my works until the end, to him I will give authority over the nations.” (Rev 2:26)
“The one who conquers will be clothed thus in white garments, and I will never blot his name out of the book of life. I will confess his name before my Father and before His angels.” (Rev 3:5)
“The one who conquers, I will make him a pillar in the temple of My God. Never shall he go out of it, and I will write on him the name of My God.” (Rev 3:12)
“The one who conquers, I will grant him to sit with Me on My throne, as I also conquered and sat down with My Father on His throne.” (Rev 3:21)
“The one who conquers will not be hurt by the second death.” (Rev 2:11)
“To the one who conquers I will grant to eat of the tree of life, which is the paradise of God.” (Rev 2:7)
– Again, these are warnings written to the seven churches in Revelation, but they’re punishments that all who turn away from Christ may/will endure if they do not repent.
“Repent, and do the works you did at first. If not, I will come to you and remove your lampstand(a church) from its place, unless you repent.” (Rev 2:5)
“You have some that hold to the teaching of Balaam, who taught Balak to put a stumbling block before the sons of Israel, so that they might eat food sacrificed to idols and practice sexual immorality. So also you have some who hold the teaching of the Nicolaitans. Therefore repent. If not, I will come to you soon and war against them with the sword of My mouth.” (Rev 2:14-16)
“Behold, I will throw her (prophetess practicing sexual immorality refusing to repent) onto a sickbed, and those who commit adultery with her I will throw into great tribulation, unless they repent of her works, and I will strike her children dead. And all the churches will know that I am He who searches mind and heart, and I will give to each of you according to your works.” (Rev 2:22-23)
“I know your works. You have the reputation of being alive, but you are dead. Wake up, and strengthen what remains and is about to die, for I have not found your words complete in the sight of my God. Remember, then, what you received and heard. Keep it, and repent. If you will not wake up, I will come like a thief , and you will not know at what hour I will come against you.” (Rev 3:1b-3)
I thought of America when I read this. We as a nation have become depraved through resisting Christ.
“Behold, I will make those of the synagogue of Satan who say that they are Jews and are not, but lie – behold, I will make them come and bow down before your feet and they will learn that I have loved you.” (Rev 3:9).
This verse seems to point to when Jesus actually comes back. When this happens, all those who belong to the synagogue of Satan will bow to Christ’s followers.
“I know your works: you are neither cold nor hot. Would that you were either cold or hot! So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth. For you say, ‘I am rich, I have prospered, and I need nothing,’ not realizing that you are wretched, pitiable, poor, blind, and naked.” (Rev 3:15-17)
Christ is definitely going to return one day. I pray that you make Him Lord of your life right now. Eternal blessings await those who love Christ and long for His return. His promises and warnings are clear in Revelation. Please consider committing your life to Him today . It will be the best decision you will ever make.
