The Dangerous Doctrines of Jack Hagee

Believe it or not, there are more false teachers out there than solid ones, and one we want to warn you about is Jack Hagee and why we recommend you don’t listen to him.

Itching Ears

[1]Some of the sayings these days by prosperity teachers and preachers really sound great. All the physical blessings appeal to the flesh, and maybe that’s the problem. When we only focus on praying for God’s physical blessings, we miss out on the more important spiritual ones. I have studied false prophets for 25 years as a writer and please know this about this man. John Hagee believes that all Christians should be financially prosperous so long as they continue to walk in obedience to God’s ordinances. Although he does not subscribe to every doctrine common to the so-called Faith movement, he does agree with the movement’s view that “poverty is caused by sin and disobeying the Word of God.” Hagee, like most prosperity preachers, believes that “poverty is a curse.” Clearly, “the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions” (2 Tim 4:3) and eventually “will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths” (2 Tim 4:4). The Apostle Paul’s prophecy has certainly come!

Blood Moon Bomb

Pastor Hagee noted that God often speaks of using astronomical signs to get the attention of humanity (Isaiah 13:10; Joel 2:31; Matthew 24:29; Acts 2:20, etc.), but he is taking the context out of context to create a pretext and a false one at that. The timing of these Scriptures is totally wrong. Many people see great significance in the appearing of the recent blood moons. Pastor Hagee wrote, “There’s a sense in the world that things are changing and God is trying to communicate with us in a supernatural way…I believe that in these next two years, we’re going to see something dramatic happen in the Middle East involving Israel that will change the course of history in the Middle East and impact the whole world.” The blood moons have come and gone, and, not two, but TEN years later, nothing he believed would happen has happened. Yet another failed prophecy.

[2]

A ‘blood moon’ occurs when the Earth comes between the sun and the moon. The sunlight shining through the atmosphere of the Earth casts a red shadow on the moon, making it appear red.

Blessed are the Rich?

Christians achieve prosperity through giving, asserts Hagee, saying, “When you give to God, He controls your income. There’s no such thing as a fixed income in the Kingdom of God. Your income is controlled by your giving.” According to Hagee, Christians grow prosperous through giving because “God created a universe where it is impossible to receive without giving. You do not qualify for God’s abundance until you give,” however, one finds a number of passages that run contrary to Hagee’s teachings concerning prosperity. Jesus Himself said, “Blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the kingdom of God. . . . But woe to you who are rich . . .” (Luke 6:20, 24). James underscores this point when he asked, “. . . did not God choose the poor of this world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom which He promised to those who love Him” (James 2:5)? Jesus said, as was also said in the Old Testament, “you will always have the poor with you” (Matt 26:11; Mark 14:7; John 12:8) and “the poor shall never cease out of the land” (Deut 15:11; Matt 26:11; John 12:8). Just because someone is poor doesn’t mean they are under a curse from God. In reality, all of mankind is under a curse…the curse of sin and that can only be lifted by trusting in Jesus Christ, not by giving. Jesus never, ever focused on being rich, but focused more on the poor.

A Warning to the Rich

[3]James warns the rich (5:1-6; cf. Mark 10:25), but Hagee ignores this and sits with those of the Faith movement’s doctrine of positive confession, however, nothing confessed by believers in faith — verbally or otherwise — automatically comes to pass. Only God has the power to create as He wills (Gen. 1:1). Christians are certainly instructed to pray to God for their requests (Matt. 6:8-13; 21:22). Ultimately, however, all such requests are subject to God’s sovereign will; whichever ones come to pass only do so as a direct result of God’s will and not because the believer made a positive confession and “named it and claimed it” (1 John 5:14). We can speak commands for something to happen, but we don’t have the power to bring it about like God can. We are out of our league when we declare that something that doesn’t yet exist will come into existence, or when we decree something to be, when we have no power to bring it about.

Jews Cannot Be Converted?

Hagee once said that “Trying to convert Jews is a “waste of time…Everyone else, whether Buddhist or Baha’i, needs to believe in Jesus, he says. But not Jews. Jews already have a covenant with God that has never been replaced with Christianity.” He goes on to say, “The Jewish people have a relationship to God through the law of God as given through Moses” [and] I believe that every Gentile person can only come to God through the cross of Christ. I believe that every Jewish person who lives in the light of the Torah, which is the word of God, has a relationship with God and will come to redemption.” Nothing could be further from the truth! Jesus is the one and only way to the Father (John 6:44; Acts 4:12). He must believe that good law-keeping gets one saved, but no one can be saved by the law because no one has kept it perfectly; Jew or Gentile.  All must come through Christ alone. [4]

Conclusion

I pray you have put your trust in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. If that has not happened yet, my friend, you are in real danger of hell fire. And I mean, in immediate danger. You’re one breath, one heartbeat…one accident away from eternity when it will be too late to repent. Today is the best day to believe (2 Cor 6:2) since tomorrow is no guarantee. If Jesus Christ came today, here is your fate (Matt 7:21-23). This is why I plead with you as you read this, repent today…and I mean right now. Put your trust in Jesus Christ. If you do not, you will face God’s judgment after death guaranteed (Heb 9:27) or at Jesus Christ’s appearance (Rev 20:12-15), which could happen at any moment.
