[1]Scientists now believe there is life on other planets, so does this disprove God as Creator and the Bible? A sample collected by NASA’s Perseverance Mars rover from an ancient dry riverbed in Jezero Crater could preserve evidence of ancient microbial life. But wait. We can’t jump to conclusions because what was found was a potential bio-signature which is a substance or structure that might have a biological origin but it requires more data or further study before a conclusion can be reached about the absence or presence of life. [1] Notice they said “might.” Not very conclusive. A recent analysis of the Sapphire Canyon mudstone core, drilled by NASA’s Perseverance rover in July 2024, adds some evidence to the ongoing search for life on Mars, however we must be cautious again because what appears to be microbial activity could actually be “some unknown, non-biological chemistry that would explain the signals.” [2]
Close But…
Mankind is so desperate to find life on another planet that they quickly jump to conclusions and make false assumptions. So it was when the headlines read, “NASA announces “groundbreaking discovery” of life on Mars.” But was it a discovery of a new alien life form? The fact is, “None of this proves metabolism happened.” [2] It seems the headline of NASA is very premature. Why are we so bent on seeking life elsewhere? Could it be that scientists then could explain away the Bible and the idea of God creating the universe and creating life? In 2023, astronomers used the James Webb Space Telescope to look at K2-18b’s atmosphere in near-infrared light. They found a tantalizing hint of a molecule called dimethyl sulphide. On Earth, this molecule is produced only by living organisms, mainly marine phytoplankton, however we must be careful about this data as the signs for the molecule on K2-18b were extremely weak. [3]

What If?
Let’s say they do discover alien life on another planet, as so many believe we already have (with no substantial proof). What does that change about God as Creator? What does that distract from the Bible’s accuracy in Genesis one? Any alien life form, if it ever is found, is likely going to be some form of bacteria or algae or something that we would not consider a higher life form like animals and mankind. Just because we find bacteria other than on the earth, remember, it was still God Who created those bacteria (along with everything else). It is consistent with Genesis one where God created the heavens and the earth and every living thing. The Bible doesn’t say that life was restricted only to the earth. Anyway, it is a non-factor for Christians, so it doesn’t matter if atheists think alien life disproves the creation account or the Bible. It actually does nothing harm to the authenticity and authority of the Scriptures. Personally, I do not believe there is an alien life form out there, at least intelligent life, but whether there is or whether there isn’t, it does not change the fact that God created all matter and every living thing.
The “Good” Creation
[3]“In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth” (Gen 1:1).
One atheist commented that the discovery of “alien life would definitely take down the entire edifice of religion since it makes the idea of creation more or less pointless,” but that fails to tell us why the creation is now pointless. Many Bible skeptics are eagerly waiting for positive proof of an alien life form so they can declare “God is dead,” however, discovering some foreign or alien bacteria or something does not change the fact that “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth” (Gen 1:1), and it was God Who brought “forth living creatures according to their kinds—livestock and creeping things and beasts of the earth according to their kinds.” And it was so. And God made the beasts of the earth according to their kinds and the livestock according to their kinds, and everything that creeps on the ground according to its kind. And God saw that it was good” (Gen 1:24-25). Even bacteria had been declared good by God for He created everything and is good in Himself and all He does is good. So whether it’s on this planet or another, God is still God and Creator of all…including all life. Those who believe in aliens can’t tell us where the aliens came from and who created them and where or how everything that exists came into being. My answer is God. It’s in the Bible, not in a telescope.
The Creator of All Life

John 1:3 All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made.
Colossians 1:16 For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him.
Revelation 4:11 Worthy are you, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they existed and were created.
1 Corinthians 8:6 Yet for us there is one God, the Father, from whom are all things and for whom we exist, and one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom are all things and through whom we exist.
Nehemiah 9:6 You are the LORD, you alone. You have made heaven, the heaven of heavens, with all their host, the earth and all that is on it, the seas and all that is in them; and you preserve all of them; and the host of heaven worships you.
Conclusion
I pray you have put your trust in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. If that has not happened yet, my friend, you are in real danger of hell fire. And I mean, in immediate danger. You’re one breath, one heartbeat…one accident away from eternity when it will be too late to repent. Today is the best day to believe (2 Cor 6:2) since tomorrow is no guarantee. If Jesus Christ came today, here is your fate (Matt 7:21-23). This is why I plead with you as you read this, repent today…and I mean right now. Put your trust in Jesus Christ. If you do not, you will face God’s judgment after death guaranteed (Heb 9:27) or at Jesus Christ’s appearance (Rev 20:12-15), which could happen at any moment.
