Bible Verses For Kids: 20 Scriptures To Learn

by Daryl Evans · Print Print · Email Email

I have had the privilege to serve the Lord as a Pastor for a number of years and I love ministering to children as well as adults.  Many times a young couple that may not attend church at all or if they attend, they do so sporadically will often become heavily involved in the church when their children are growing up.  Even when the parent isn’t all the way onboard to attend church and learn about God, they still will be led to have their children go to Sunday school or church.  It is an innate sense that parents have.  God brings the adult parent back into the church through the door of having their own children grow up learning about God and Jesus.  There are many great children’s programs that help children learn about God and most of these include teaching the children stories from Scripture and also having the children memorize scripture verses.  The verses below are both great verses for children to memorize and also learn what they are teaching about Scripture.

Ephesians 6:1-3 Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. Honor your father and mother (this is the first commandment with a promise), that it may go well with you and that you may live long in the land.

Bible Verses Jesus Spoke About Kids

Matthew 18:2-4 And calling to him a child, he put him in the midst of them and said, “Truly, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you  will never enter the kingdom of heaven.  Whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.

Matthew 18:10 See that you do not despise one of these little ones. For I tell you that in heaven their angels always see the face of my Father who is in heaven.

Matthew 19:14 but Jesus said,  “Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven.”

Scripture Quotes Containing Commands and Instruction to Kids

Proverbs 1:8-9  Hear, my son, your father’s instruction, and forsake not your mother’s teaching, for they are  a graceful garland for your head and pendants for your neck.

Proverbs 6:20   My son, keep your father’s commandment, and forsake not your mother’s teaching.

Colossians 3:20 Children, obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord.

I have included some of my personal favorites and verses that I learned as a young child.  Many times we take more than a letter from the God of all creation.  God wants to speak to you this day through his words. Teach these verses to your children and memorize the verses along side of your children.  Memory verses are not just for children but also for all of us.  Pick verses that are meaningful to you and study them.
