Top 10 Third Day Songs

by Pamela Rose Williams on May 22, 2012 · Print Print · Email Email

Third Day is a band that records contemporary Christian music. They are considered a rock band and most of their music has a heavy beat and loud instrumentation. Staying true to my musical roots, I will admit that most of the music that Third Day has recorded is not on my play list. Although I choose others over Third Day, I do love the unmistakable deep and husky voice of front man Mac Powell who co-founded the band with Mark Lee while in high school.  Mark lends his vocals in the background and leads on guitar. Other members include Tai Anderson on Bass and background vocals and David Carr on drums. You can read more about this award-winning group at their web site: Third Day. Following are my top 10 Third Day songs in alphabetical order.

Featured Third Day Song: Cry Out to Jesus
I chose to feature this song because the message is so powerful. Set to a mellow and soothing melody, “Cry Out to Jesus” is one of those songs that causes you meditate upon the love and saving power of Jesus. So many life issues are addressed in the song. No matter what the problem; loss of a loved one, marriage that’s struggling, addictions and even loneliness – the answer is Jesus, He’ll meet you wherever you are. I like how the songs starts with just the piano and then the other instruments come in on the chorus. Enjoy the video with lyrics in the upper right of this page.

Children of God

Third Day Songs“The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God”  Romans 8:16

Lyrics:

Praise to the Father of our Lord, Jesus Christ
Our God and our King, to Him we will sing
In His great mercy, He has given us life
Now we can be called the children of God

Great is the Love that the Father has given us
He has delivered us
He has delivered us

Children of God, sing your song and rejoice
For the love that He has given us all
Children of God, by the blood of His Son
We have been redeemed and we can be called
Children of God
Children of God

A mystery is revealed to the universe
The Father above has proven His love
Now we are free from the judgment that we deserve
And so we are called the children of God

We are the saints
We are the children
We’ve been redeemed
We’ve been forgiven
We are the sons and daughters of our God

God of Wonders

I think of Genesis 2:4 when I review the lyrics of this song “These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that the Lord God made the earth and the heavens”. This is a great song to add to any worship set even though it has been around for a number of years it is still wonderful every time it is sung.

Lyrics:

Lord of all creation
of water earth and sky
The heavens are Your Tabernacle
Glory to the Lord on high

Chorus:
God of wonders beyond our galaxy
You are Holy, Holy
The universe declares your Majesty
And You are holy holy

Lord of Heaven and Earth
Lord of Heaven and Earth

Early in the morning
I will celebrate the light
When i stumble in the darkness
I will call Your name by night

chrous

Hallelujah to the Lord of heaven and earth (repeate 3 times)

holy……holy….holy god…..

Chorus

Precious Lord reveal Your love to me….
Father holy, holy.
(backround)…Lord God almighty…

The “universe” declares your majesty
“you are” holy,holy,holy,holy
Halleujah to the Lord of heaven and earth 9x

Lift up your face

This is a song with a heavy beat and powerful lyrics. Another popular Third Day song full of the hope that is salvation.

Lyrics:

Lift up your face, lift up your face
Salvation is calling, salvation is calling

You have fallen so far now
You don’t even know how, you are going to survive
(But) Just above the horizon
A new light is shining, breaking through the darkest night
Love is coming and it’s calling out your name

Lift up your face, lift up your face
Salvation is calling, salvation is calling

Lift up your face, lift up your face
Salvation is calling, salvation is calling your name

You feel like your life is fading
You’re tired of waiting, for your moment to arrive
But tomorrow will bring a song that you can sing
And your hope is gonna rise
Love is coming and it’s calling out your name

Lift up your face, lift up your face
Salvation is calling, salvation is calling

Lift up your face, lift up your face
Salvation is calling, salvation is calling your name

Oh yeah…

Do you hear Him calling?
Can you hear Him calling?
He’s calling out your name
He’s calling out your name

Lift up your face, lift up your face
Salvation is calling, salvation is calling

Lift up your face, lift up your face
Salvation is calling, salvation is calling your name

Can you hear Him calling?
Can you hear Him calling now?
Oh, can you hear Him calling you
He is calling you now
He is calling out your name
Just above the horizon
A new light is shining
Salvation’s on its way

Love Song

I would do anything just to be with my Jesus, how about you? Listen to this video and read the lyrics also. Can you say you love Jesus that much?

Praise Song

This song, as recorded on the album “Third Day” has sort of an Asian sound to it. It is a simple song of praise with God-honoring lyrics.

Lyrics:

We praise You oh Lord for the love that You give
and the times that You spent on the world for our sins
We lift Your name in honor and praise
in Jesus we place all our love and our faith

Chorus:
And we know that You are the Savior
And we know that You are the Son
And we know that You are the Savior
of everyone

The time is now near when You will appear
When we see You face and your voice will appear
and then we will sing to Jesus the King
The Maker, Creator of everything

Repeat chorus
Repeat verse 1
Repeat chorus

Revelation

This song is a prayer for God to give this believer a revelation for what they should do when they have doubts. It admits that God’s guidance is necessary when we are on the road faced with despair, doubt and decisions. I found a page that you can listen to the audio as you view the lyrics, take a look here: Revelation

Sing a Song

It never fails, when I hear this one on the radio in that car I am singing it for the rest of the day. Again, the song has the beat that is Third Day with lyrics that declare the mercy, love, goodness, righteousness, faithfulness, loving kindness to the glory of the name of the Lord. I have included a video below for you so that you can have this song in your heart today.

You are beautiful my sweet, sweet song

This song sounds like it is backed up by a full orchestra. I like how they sing of the Father, Spirit and Jesus as being a sweet, sweet song. My favorite lyric is:

You are my strong melody, yeah
You are my dancing rhythm
You are my perfect rhyme
And I will sing of You forever

Your love oh Lord

This is among my favorite worship songs of all time. It is also one of Third Day’s most well known worship songs. Worship with me as you view the video below.

Thy righteousness is like the great mountains; thy judgments are a great deep: O Lord, thou preservest man and beast. Psalms 36:6

Are you a Third Day fan?

How about listing your favorite Third Day song that I have not include here. Help us grow the list.
