7 Prayers for Employment or Work

In the United States today, so many people are unemployed.  Some are fearful of being laid off.  Others wonder about promotions.  Many are looking for better jobs.  There are a number of issues facing our country today regarding employment.  Here are 7 prayers that you can pray about specific needs in the workplace.

Prayer for Work

Most Merciful Father,

I’m at my wits end, Lord.  I feel like I have tried every avenue to find work and yet I have not gotten a single phone call about my applications that I have sent out.   Lord, I want to provide for my family.  I want to make a steady income that can pay my rent/mortgage and provide meals for my spouse and children.  Lord, you know what is best for me and I lay these burdens at your throne now.  You are good all of the time, Father, and I am placing my trust in you this day.  I love you Lord!  Amen

Jobs at Risk

Blessed Lord,

You already know before I speak what I am going to say.  Nothing I say is a surprise to You and yet You yearn for my voice daily.  I love You, God, because You love me as Your own child.  I bring you a huge burden today, Lord.  My company is downsizing because they are losing money.  O gracious Lord, my department was told about potential lay-offs.  I plead with You now, Father.  Please keep my position safe.  I am scared for my future, Lord.  I pray for Your peace that truly passes all understanding.  Give me an ease of mind as I continue to work at my job.  Lord, if I am laid off, it is because You have allowed it and I pray that You would have another open door ready for me to walk through.  You are King, Father, and I trust in Your will this day.  Amen

Possible Promotions

Wonderful Lord,

You have blessed me with so much, Father.  I have a wonderful family and church family.  I thank you for Your love and I must lay a burden at Your feet.  Father, You know about the promotion that I may get.  Lord, it would be a huge blessing to receive it.  I am not putting my faith in money, Lord.  My faith is in You only.  If You allow me this promotion, I will use it faithfully as You see fit.  I will be responsible with it and pay off existing debts and I will continue to tithe at church.  Father, I am giving this completely to You and whatever Your decision is, I will thank You because You are loving, gracious and generous even in poverty.  I love You, Abba Father.  Amen

Career Decisions

"While there are many problems facing us all at our jobs, we have one ultimate solution and that is to trust fully in God."

“While there are many problems facing us all at our jobs, we have one ultimate solution and that is to trust fully in God.”

Loving Father,

I praise You because You love me in spite of all of my failures and weaknesses.  You wash me in Your Word and clean my soul up more with each passage I read.  Father, I bring You a burden this day.  I feel like I am stuck in a dead end job with no possibility of promotion.  I am barely floating above water right now.  You have blessed me with other talents that I could potentially use in other career fields.  Father, if You are willing, I pray for You to open a door to a different career for me.  I would love to use the talents You have given me to provide for my family.  Where You lead, I will follow.  I praise Your name, Lord!  Amen

Am I Transparent?

Holy Lord,

Blessed be Your name always.  You have set my feet on a solid rock, Jesus Christ.  I thank You, Jesus, for Your bravery and love that saved me from my sins on the cross.  I will praise You forever!  Lord, I feel like a doormat at work.  I have tried to promote ideas to better the work environment while cutting down on costs.  Management usually pacifies me with words they will not follow through on.  They say, “we will consider it” but I know they forget about me as soon as they walk away.  Father, You have provided me this job and I am grateful for it.  I pray that you will soften the hearts of the leadership there.  I don’t even care if they reject every idea of mine, Father.  I just want to them to actually care and consider my suggestions.  I just want to be seen as a person and not an object to make them money.  I love You, Lord and I will follow You wherever You lead.  I love You!  Amen

Struggles with Co-workers

Beautiful Lord,

You are abounding in grace and mercy for Your children.  I am so thankful that You call me Your child.  Lord, work is getting stressful because of the environment I am in.  Father, there are many people who hate You there and they make my life miserable because they know that I love You.  I trust in James as it says, “Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds.” (James 1:2)  I realize the benefit of being persecuted for believing in Jesus and I gladly accept whatever comes my way.  Lord, I pray that You would soften the hearts of my co-workers.  I will keep planting seeds, Lord.  I pray that they will let you water them.  I love you, Father.  Amen

Tragic Circumstances

Oh Merciful Father,

My company has lost a great man to a tragic accident and his life was taken from him.  Father, many people at work really loved this man and everyone is lost right now.  Father, I pray for strength while I am grieving.  Lord, use me to show Your love to all of those hurting at my job.  I want to be the light that shines in the darkness, Father.  I really need Your strength though.  Carry me, Lord, as I help carry others through this difficult time.  You are my strength when I am weak, Lord.  I love You, Father.  Amen

Conclusion

While there are many problems facing us all at our jobs, we have one ultimate solution and that is to trust fully in God.  God knows what is best for us in all circumstances.  I pray that you will trust in God fully with your employment burdens, wants and needs as you continue to live a life worthy of the calling.  God bless you all.

Such a good work again my brother. Truly remarkable that you have such insight into so many areas of the Christian’s walk with Christ. Among my favorites are “Am I Transparent?” because that may be the greatest block for us sharing our faith if they see us as having a wall around us…on the other hand, admitting our faults, weaknesses, and backgrounds, is a way to see that the lost have hope also of overcoming. Thanks friend.

Thank you Jack. I am realizing the older I get, the more I really, truly love Jesus and want to know Him more and more. I actually wrote the “Am I Transparent” section based off of my own work experience. So many managers at companies ignore the ideas and experience of those under them. I appreciate your kind words as always, brother. Thank you and God bless you!

I know someone for whom I prayed the Prayer for Work tonight. She was fired recently, through no fault of her own.

I am so sorry for your friend Pepper. It is so hard to see God working when trials come, but He does have a plan. When one door closes, another one opens. I’ll be praying for your friend.

Hello Malaika. I understand where you are coming from. I am stuck and will never move up in my company because I set Sundays aside for church. I am not “flexible” in their eyes which means I will always stay where I am at. I encourage you to stop asking “why me?” and start asking “what can I learn from this trial, God?” When you focus on His will for you, you will learn and grow in your faith. I am so sorry that you can’t visit your mom. I really am. That is sad. Stay strong in the Lord because it is through His strength that we can survive in our own weaknesses. God bless you!

Do you have anything for better and suitable employment? After 18 months of temping followed by 12 months of not fully funded unemployment (due to the pay cut I took in the 18 months of temping), I took the first job that was offered to me because I was on my 2nd extension and I had 5 months left total. To be honest, God told me not to take it. My gut told me not to take it. The low-balled me on the offer and to top it off, my 80 year old mom became sick and was hsopitalized, the Friday before I was going to start. She lives with me and I am her sole support. I could have called and said I couldn’t take it and I would still have been eligible for unemployment because I had not yet filled out the W2. However, after all that time I was too afraid not to. I had been using this prayer, but I am unable to find anything remotely fulfilling about this place. It’s (small) paycheck with health insurance, with no one to talk to nor anyone I can relate to.

A Prayer to find Employment

God be with me today in finding employment.
Lead me to work that I love, and that has value.
Guide me to a place with an atmosphere of respect
And cooperation, in a safe and happy environment.
Help me to find fulfillment mentally and financially.
Thank you God, for bringing this to me today!

None of this is true of my place of employment. I think some people there like my boss love it. They are linear, left brained people. I’m a tangential, left brained person with no interest whatsoever in this field. I’m having panic attacks about being stuck at this place forever alone. I knew the first day that I had made a mistake. I decided to wait a “decent” amount of time before starting to look again full force. It will be 4 months in June, I started the job hunt full force this weekend (Memorial Day 2013) but there is so little out there. Any prayers from any one are welcome. I will continue to pray for everyone who is in a similar situation due to this economy, especially those who have been unable to find anything at all.

Hello Mary Katy. I am sorry to hear about your circumstances. A few things I suggest is to be thankful that you have a job, even if it isn’t the most ideal. I am in the same boat. I don’t really have a fondness for the field I am in but it is income none the less. Also, I recommend really spending as much time as you can in prayer and the word. Being anxious is what the devil wants you to be. Wait patiently on the Lord. Everything is good in His timing. Ask Him what His will is for you. I really enjoyed the prayer you wrote. I would simply add at the end, “Lord, wherever You lead me, I will follow. Gracious Father, whatever Your will is, may it be done in my situation with work.” As hard as the trial is right now, stay firm in the Lord. Satan is trying desperately to make you give up! Don’t give him a foothold. Pray constantly to God. Stay in the Word! I hope and pray that God will show you His will soon. Until He does, seek Him constantly! I am going to pray for you as soon as I hit the reply button below :) God bless you!

Urgent prayer for employment:

Abba Father. Jehovah Jireh, El Elyon, our Most High God.

We come humbly before Thee today, with praise and thanksgiving, and in the precious Name of Jesus.

We claim the Power of The Blood and the Power of The Cross upon us this day.

We forgive all whom have trespassed against us, as we ask Thy forgiveness for our sins.

We ask for full and immediate gainful employment in my industry, with Thy Divine blessings and favor.

Father, you say in Your Word that “My God shall provide all of my needs, according to His riches and glory by Christ Jesus.”

My job is the need that I ask for. I ask now in faith believing that I have already received it, according to Your Word..

I stand on Your Word Father, in expectation of my job. Praise God for the Holy Ghost!

We ask that you rebuke the Devourer, Father, that no demonic forces may hamper the manifestation and deliverance of Your chosen job to me. Cast Satan into the Lake of Fire, that he not interfere.

We pray in faith receiving Father, as we praise Thy Glorious Name.

In Jesus’s precious Name we believe.

Amen and Amen.

I have been out of job for six months. Applied over 100 positions. I have attended four interviews, three that they assured me of gainful employment. I have been looking forward to hearing from these companies. Yet nothing. I need the divine intervention. I need prayers to bind the devil. Pray for me Derek.

I will definitely pray for you Francis. As hard as it is right now, God has got this. Sometimes He closes doors that aren’t good for us and waits for the right one to open. Stay strong in Him and lean into His loving arms! Prayers are on the way!

Good Morning

Im a 51 year old South African female-Not married and dont have children. My Mom was my best friend she passed away suddenly in 2012-She left me a legacy-Taste Nita taste and see how good God is.She really loved the Lord and because of this scripture i have become more dependent on Jesus. However -I think im impatient-What i pray for never materialises.I want to stop smoking cigarettes,I need a scipture that i can turn to -to overcome this habit.I really would like my mountain of debt to dissappear-And i would really like a partner.Im not sure -But Jesus is not listening to me i think. Please assist me with scriptures.Also.Your article on unqually yoked.I loved it .Thank You.However can 1 pray that the mind and heart be equally yoked to the Holy Spirit. That they become 1?

Hi Anita,

First off let me say that God and Jesus always hear your prayers. When God is silent there is always a reason, but He always listens to you. With your debt, a wise man once told me to start with the smallest bills first and work from there. Does that make sense? With being single, stay strong in the Lord, He knows your desires and what is best for you. It may be that your future partner is not around yet. With smoking, I think other areas besides the Bible are worth considering. I watched my uncle die of lung cancer and it was a horrible, painful experience for him. But other things can happen too: black lung disease, high blood pressure, heart disease and many others. If you take these seriously, you can quit. I was a smoker too. I smoked 2 packs a day when I was younger, but I have been smoke free for 14 years now and I never crave them. However, I can point you to this verse: “Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body,” (1 Cor. 6:19-20). When you are knowingly hurting your body with cigarettes, you are not honoring God because your body is a temple for the Holy Spirit. The Spirit lives in you. I hope this helps. Also, yes your heart and mind should always be on the same path with the Holy Spirit. They should always be yolked together. God bless!
