How do you choose only 21 Bible verses about God when the entire Bible is the literal word of God? True, it is not an easy task, however I want to share these great verses that remind us how blessed His name is in all the earth.

Everyone has a name. In the Bible God names people and many times that name reflects the character of the person. He even gives Himself several names, which are really just an extension of His character. Take a look at these amazing Bible verses about God.

Featured Verse About God
Psalm 72:19 Blessed be his glorious name forever; may the whole earth be filled with his glory! Amen and Amen!

Some Amazing Names of God from Hebrew

Elohim – This name made up of two Hebrew words. The title “El” means “power, strength and might”.[1]  It is the first name for God that we see in the Bible and it is used over two thousand times in the Bible. It is a plural form of an Hebrew word.

Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God [Elohim] created the heaven and the earth

El Shaddai – This name means “The Almighty” and we can find that almost 50 times in the Bible.  The first time we see it is when God changes Abram’s name to Abraham:

Genesis 17:1 And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the LORD [Jehovah] appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God [El Shaddai]; walk before me, and be thou perfect.

Adonai – God gives Himself this name to mean “God the Son as sovereign Master”.[2] It is seen over three hundred times in the Bible. We also see this in Genesis as follows:

Genesis 18:27 Abraham answered and said, “Behold, I have undertaken to speak to the Lord [Adonai], I who am but dust and ashes…”

YHWH or Jehovah – This is the most frequently used name for God. In the KJV of the Bible when you see the word LORD (all uppercase letters) it is referring to the divine personal name for God. It appears in the Bible more than six thousand times. When Moses asked God His name He said:

Exodus 3:14 (KJV) And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM [YHWH or Jehovah]: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM [Jehovah] hath sent me unto you.

Other Amazing Names Used with Jehovah

Genesis 22:14 (Jehovah-Jireh, God the Provider) So Abraham called the name of that place, “The LORD will provide”; as it is said to this day, “On the mount of the LORD it shall be provided.”

Exodus 15:26 (Jehovah-Rophe, God that Heals)  “If you will diligently listen to the voice of the LORD your God, and do that which is right in his eyes, and give ear to his commandments and keep all his statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you that I put on the Egyptians, for I am the LORD, your healer.”

Exodus 17:15 (Jehovah-Nissi, God my Banner, my Victor, my Protector) And Moses built an altar and called the name of it, The LORD Is My Banner,

Judges 6:24 (Jehovah-Shalom, God is Peace) Then Gideon built an altar there to the LORD and called it, The LORD Is Peace. To this day it still stands at Ophrah, which belongs to the Abiezrites.

Psalms 23:1 (Jehovah-Rohi, The Lord my shepherd) The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.

Ezekiel 48:35 (Jehovah-Shammah, The Eternal God; The Lord is There) The circumference of the city shall be 18,000 cubits. And the name of the city from that time on shall be, The LORD Is There.”

2 Corinthians 5:21 (Jehovah-Tsidkenu, The Lord our Righteousness) For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

Some Amazing Attributes of God:

God is Good

Psalms 86:5 For you, O Lord, are good and forgiving, abounding in steadfast love to all who call upon you.

God is Eternal

But you, O LORD, are enthroned forever; you are remembered throughout all generations. ~ Psalms 102:12

God is Omnipresent (Everywhere)

Psalms 139:7-12 Where shall I go from your Spirit? Or where shall I flee from your presence? If I ascend to heaven, you are there! If I make my bed in Sheol, you are there! If I take the wings of the morning and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, even there your hand shall lead me, and your right hand shall hold me. If I say, “Surely the darkness shall cover me, and the light about me be night,” even the darkness is not dark to you; the night is bright as the day, for darkness is as light with you.

God is Holy

Isaiah 6:2-3 Above him stood the seraphim. Each had six wings: with two he covered his face, and with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. And one called to another and said: “Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of hosts; the whole earth is full of his glory!”

God is Just

Isaiah 30:18 Therefore the LORD waits to be gracious to you, and therefore he exalts himself to show mercy to you. For the LORD is a God of justice; blessed are all those who wait for him.

God is Omniscient (All Knowing)

Isaiah 48:3 “The former things I declared of old; they went out from my mouth, and I announced them; then suddenly I did them, and they came to pass…”

God is Omnipotent (All Powerful)

Matthew 28:18 And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me…”

God is Faithful

1 Corinthians 1:9 God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.

I just want to praise my Father that His Word is Truth and does not return void when we speak it out of our mouth and believe in our heart, but accomplishes what it says! Awesome ! Thanks be to God who gives me the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ and that “in all things I am more than a conqueror through Him who loves me”. Thank you for the greatest weapon which is the Word of God, lets use it and destroy the enemy.

God Is An Awesome God. A little over five years ago I had a kidney transplant and it was a bit tough but here I am today praising him, uplifting his name and seeking him more and more even when things are not going as well as I would like, I am still praising him with my mouth and worshipping him from my heart.

Praise God All Day Everyday

This is a great compilation of who and what God is. I was a bit dissapointed however, because you never singled out that God is Love. You hint at it here and there but never come out and say it.
